Great video. I enjoyed it as always. You ask a question that kind of spoke to me. You said "how do we get young people into the blues". I don't know that you really do man. I was born and raised in Southeastern Kentucky around country and bluegrass music. Nobody told me about the blues and pointed me in that direction. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was pretty popular back then and I started listening to him and SRV. I liked what I heard so I went down the rabbit hole and discovered people like Freddie King, Johnny Winter this was back in the '90s when I started playing guitar. Here I am about 30 years later and I listen to Bluesville on Sirius XM continuously. I know this sounds cliche but I don't think you really get people into the blues. I think they have to feel it and understand it. I guess I'm what you call an old soul. I don't really listen to music from my time. I love older music. I love the history of the blues and how it made us way into rock and roll.

I think someone like Samantha Fish is the key. I heard her version of "Chills And Fever" a couple of days ago and it has more of a pop feel than blues. So I think she has the potential to crossover somewhat. She can play with any of the guys, puts on a great show and is cute yet not threatening to say an audience of young women. Someone like her could bring a younger audience into the genre.

@@padfolio I put a fair bit of thought into this as well. The conclusion that I've come to is that you have to market and make somebody popular. Blues music doesn't really do that if you know what I'm saying. When you take somebody young and make them popular amongst young kids, that's when they really blow up. Let's take boy bands of the '90s for example. Their songs weren't the best and it was nothing revolutionary but they did take several young good looking dudes and heavily market them and make them some of the biggest artists in the world. We've even saw Walt Disney do this with some of their actresses like Mandy Moore. If there was anybody that ever put that much effort into blues music, it would be the biggest genre in the world. That's one thing I like about Joe bonamassa. I'm not particularly a fan of his music but he's all over the place. Love him or hate him, he knows exactly how to sell himself.

@@HAMMERHEAD-g3h Agree. That's why I mentioned her. She has that potential if she can get the right management and marketing behind her.

I so do understand. I love so many genres of music. Blues tells so many stories and music is awesome. Such as Jonny Lang and so very many. I could go on and on. Just so many.

I also agree you gotta feel the blues. But to get young people into it, it just has to be introduced and then magic happen. Especially in this day and time. Here again I love all genre's but blues should be introduced bc look what world is going through.
