I tried one of the gloves for playing bass last year on a whim, and have been playing with one ever since. I can play longer more comfortably, and techniques like sliding are smoother and just more fun. I use nylon tape wounds so it's ULTRA smooth. I don't *always* play with the glove, but pretty much always enjoy it more when I do. Hi, first of all congratulations for your channel, I follow you often and thanks to you maybe I have the hope of starting to play again, could you please explain better if they are right for me? I would like to know two things: The first is whether the glove can be useful for not feeling pain in the fingertips, and in my opinion, since I have the size of 3.375" which size is suitable for me? Thank you......
Honestly after taking a break from bass for 5 years and coming back to it full time , my right hand was blistered and this got me through mandatory practices I would have otherwise not been able to do because my fingers had like 3rd degree burns on the tips from popping, I’m talking bad. This helped until my finger could heal and I was able to use it naked again. :p so don’t laugh at the glove ! It’s useful
@@TheGuitarGeek yeah man legit , these helped me get back into it big time , I get you shouldn’t use them all the time when your building calluses , but you can definetly use them if you already have a healing blister and gotta play the gig ! It’s unprofessional to cancel on your band mates !
I have a long nail bed, which means that the tip of my nail, no matter how low I cut it, will always jut out over my finger tips. Also, my finger tips are thin and flat, they do not have that bulb shaped area that people use to hold down guitar strings. Would this glove help me?
I have a severe nickel allergy and I have to use gloves when playing guitar. I've tried stainless steel and cobalt string sets but the trebles still contain nickel which irritates my skin.
I am a working jazz pianist who dearly loves the guitar. I have a heavy playing schedule and because of that when I play or practice guitar extensively I seem to get severe bruising in my left hand sometimes to the point where I am almost unable to touch the keys or strings. This product sounds like it might be extremely helpful.
I have a special issue: one of my 'playing fingers' on my Right Hand is deformed, due to an old injury long ago. My problem is that when I was playing my Gibson Thunderbird Bass a couple of days ago with the blues-band I'm in (& we were recording a song), my bum finger developed a painful blood-blister where I pluck/'finger' the bass strings on my Bass. This is WHY I need a glove (or silicone finger caps/covers) for my Right, "playing hand". Would a right-handed GUITAR GEEK GLOVE work for my problem? (And if so, HOW do I order?) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I need a glove to avoid trauma to my fingertips, as I dont want calluses and I also have Raynaud’s, so I cant sustain small vessel damage. If not this one, is there a similar product that you can recommend? I’d love to pick up learning guitar again, but this issue is holding me back
I will always use this product. It helps my nerve damage, tendentious, finger-joint damage and sweat problems. Wears out a little too quick, but it helps more than enough to justify buying a bunch a month.
Does it keep your hand warm? I can imagine an outdoor concert in late Autumn where it’d be useful. Or reducing varicose veins in your hands? I don’t know why I’m watching this video either.
Thats exactly what inwas thinking. Would like to know too. I have played outdoor shows where it was 74 degree when I started and 50 degrees when we were done and my hands were freezing.
it's good for if you have some sort of finger injury but still want to play guitar. i cut a flap of skin off of my index finger a few years ago and didn't even realize it scarred over until i tried getting back into guitar, and one particular day of heavy practicing just absolutely destroyed that scar. glad this product exists for that purpose. it looks kinda odd though maybe i could get away with using one protector on that specific finger instead.
I don't have one of these. I am considering getting one however. I suffer from arthritis, trigger finger (in several fingers on both hands), and a form of Dupuytren's Disease (which causes lumps in the palms of my hands) This looks as if it could be used as compression therapy for swollen joints. Anyone have experience?
I been playing guitar for almost 10 years, unfortunately I currently suffer from diabetes so sometimes I had ry skin, because of this the calluses on my fingers dry up and fall off which makes playing the guitar uncomfortable and even painful. Also once I suffered from tendinitis because of the cold so I started wearing gloves for a while after playing, especially in winter. I think these gloves are a good option for me, I will try them.
Hey there! Any update on if they help with cold? I have sensitive joints in cold and have been looking for something for that since I normally play outside and winter is coming Edit: btws if it helps you at all, I've found carpal tunnel prevention stretches help with joint pain and circulation too! That's what I've been doing lately
Thx for your video. I have extremely thin fingers and super soft skin and pressing hard during cords feels like my bones are being pierced. So while these gloves aren't needed for everyone I feel like they are an accessibility equipment
I can only cut my nails till the very tip of my fingers and when I play the Bass you can still hear the nails and that’s just not the sound I’m looking for. Especially on my flat wounds. So I‘ve just been looking for thin gloves. That‘s the reason I‘m watching your video since you asked😂
does it work for cold hands? I only want them for cold because it's nearly impossible for me to play ( Fingerstyle ) outside when my hands get cold, my finger bones can't move smoothly anymore.
Yes it does. They are nowhere near warming enough to use as gloves but put real gloves on overtop of these before you play and these will help a little.
I'm here for my sweaty hand that feel sticky sliding over strings, occasionally hurt. Though not an absolute encouragement from Andy, but "surprisingly still can finger the chords" has been good enough to give it a try, plus the positive responds from the comments, thanks!!
My fingers have a lot of friction on the strings and the fret board, and it makes it almost impossible for me to slight and bend properly. I dunno what's the reason, I think it's sweat. But gloves helped my situation a lot.
I thought of this because I just picked up my guitar and it's cold? And it's a carbon fiber guitar so I should be able to play it outside without damaging it theoretically... I don't care so much about looks... Have you used it and has it held up over time ? is it uncomfortable because it's too tight? Is it breathable does it get stinky quick? Does it provide any warmth ? So much so it makes your palms sweaty and your mouth dry? Fancy people go Drifting by? Moment of Truth is right at hand? Just one more heartache you can stand?
Interesting, I know Etienne Mbappe of John Mclaughlin's 4th Dimension wears glove because his sweat wear out his strings too fast. Can't wait to see what you find next! 👍
"sweat wear out his strings too fast" exactly my summer problem. When i forget to clean my strings directly after play, next day i need new strings (at least for the g,b,e strings)
Been playing for years and just damaged fingertips on my 2 middle fingers with a friggin hedge trimmer 😮. Gutted I can't play till there healed, so looking for ways to still play whilst let my fingers heal. Possibly an option month or 2 down the line🤔 There are other reasons why some ppl would want to know about these products. Thx for the vid 👍🤘
One of my freinds quit guitar playing because he said his hands are constantly too sticky. We sometimes thought he is making up an excuse for beeing too lazy on the hobby. Then I bought him these gloves and now he is playing 10 times better than me. Of course he had to practice again but it really was gamechanger for him.
Actually i need some glove to protect my hand from electric grounds or shock. Because i often feel that electric ground from amp even i wear a rubber shoes
I also use (need) them. Years ago I cut the tip of my index finger down to the bone on a table saw (yah- ouch), and most (not all) of the finger tip grew back, but the nerves didn't heal all the way and the finger gets very sore quickly. 2 years after the accident i couldn't play more than 5 min at a time. I play sitar - and the index is the Main finger, and the fret board is over an inch away from the strings - you never touch the fret board, you press on the string, and its just your finger against .010 thin steel - no fret board - and you often need to pull down on the string by 1-2" to bend the notes, 4-5 notes. These gloves were life savers. i was only wearing them when i have to - and doing that helped me build more tolerance in my nerves, i can now play 1 hour without gloves, and another hour with them. Now I prefer to wear them when i play in public, first of all, I don't have to worry about my finger giving up (it will randomly spike in pain, causing me to jerk my finger off the string and mess me up) so now I wear it as sort of a 'style' thing - hey, it sort of worked for Michael Jackson... and he didn't even play guitar (or sitar)
Scott from Scotts base lessons wears one of these but that's more of a medical thing than a too sore to play thing. Can't see much use for the "normal" musician
"Why are you watching this," you asked. Because this product made the difference between continuing to play guitar and quitting. I have painful (incurable) eczema on my left index finger. With the glove, I can play with less pain and without worrying whether the E string will catch in an open cut (icky, I know, but that has happened). It keeps oil and sweat off my strings. It overcomes the "stick" of a glossy neck, which some of my electrics have. I love these things. (I was led to them by seeing Scott of "Scott's Bass Lessons" wearing them.) They do eventually stretch out and/or wear through at the fingertips, so I'll be ordering more. They're lifesavers for some of us. :)
I'm here because I searched for "guitar gloves" after seeing the guitarist for Steam-Powered Giraffe using one. I was absolutely hoping for a video making fun of it and I LOL'd when you said "why are you watching this?"
As aforementioned before there’s a dude here on YT that uses it on a regular basis. Myself have tried it and was pleasantly surprised. And there is also Étienne MBappé, also a bass player, that always uses gloves. This guy played with the Zawinu Sindicate and appeared on the last Ray Charles recording. So yeah, it’s a proper product, maybe more toward bass players.
This is hilarious!! Thanks for posting this. I think wearing a glove would hinder getting the fingers tough. I would not get it but I can see maybe using it at an outdoor gig when it's really cold. Maybe??? Great video.
I bought these several months ago. I’m retired and taking up guitar again after a 40 year lapse. I’ve got arthritis and baby like fingertips. My intent in buying the glove was to add some compression thereby helping the arthritis and some cushion for my fingertips as I slowly build finger strength. I’m hoping that playing guitar again will slow my advancing arthritis.
Why I'm wathing: I'm drawing a character who wears gloves and seeing if it's possible to play stringed instruments with them on. 100% confirmed, thank you.
Would you mind giving us a follow-up video? The reviews for this glove in terms of longevity are terrible. Apparently the material isn't made to last very long or to sustain long use- holes will start to form at the fingertips as the material tears. I am disabled and have been looking for something to accommodate, so I will be trying high dexterity nitrile coated work gloves (the type mechanics use). I can update on my findings, maybe give you an idea for a follow-up video. As you can see from the comments, lots of us are looking for solutions to continue playing and participating in the hobby we love, so it's appreciated these things, people like you who make brutally honest reviews. Thank you.
I have small hands and play long scale bass in a band I wear two gloves and there amazing cool I take two fingers and a thumb off one They help me to move fast slide i wouldn't be without mine amazing 💜
I play bass and guitar. but it's been 5 month that i got a invective dermatitis in my fingertips. it's always painful using only bare fingers to play. i DO WANT TO have calluses but in fact my skin keeps breaking, and my fingers bleed. my fingers become more sensitive because my skin layer is thinning. i took a medicine ofc, and skip 2 months of practicing (that also make me more frustrated). i don't have any choice, the doctor said i need to use gloves to protect my sensitive skin after applying some medicine and moisturizing... thinking that moisturizer can damage my strings and my fingers that keep bleeding bcs of the string, i try to play bass and guitar again using nitrile gloves. and i think it works! my hands still moisturized well, the strings clean, i can still building up calluses. well, it's kinda sad ppl called my-savior-things as a joke haha
You're probably severely allergic to nickel like me. I've tried different guitar string sets but the GBE strings always contain nickel. However I don't have to wear my gloves when I play bass, I use d'daddario Chromes or Rotosound stainless steel strings. Give them a try.
I saw someone using this while playing at an outdoor farmers market, and was curious. Market is in the morning, and usually pretty cool temps on Central Coast CA, so that might explain it. Also could be metal exposure paranoia, which Californians are pretty famous for. Player was also playing smooth jazz, so maybe reduced string noise? I DONT KNOWWW
I may need to get one. I don't play much any more due to Rheumatoid arthritis and swelling and pain Just maybe this product will help me get my playing mojo back.
It might be good for older musicians or ones that play alot to protect your joints slightly, electric shock through the fingers. Gotta protect the hands
I just found this after 3 years. My hands with carpel tunnel and age. I'm having difficulty getting through a whole song. I will order one aa I found this in sweetwater and hope it helps

I have a long nail bed, which means that the tip of my nail, no matter how low I cut it, will always jut out over my finger tips. Also, my finger tips are thin and flat, they do not have that bulb shaped area that people use to hold down guitar strings. Would this glove help me?
It could. Also look into Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath guitarist. He he uses fake fingertips all together, and it never held him back.
I use the same glove to trick tremors and cramps. They cost a fortune but saved my interest in bass...a career saver for many.
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and it's about a guitar glove...
I've subscribed
That’s the kind of quality content you’ve been craving! 😂
Sorry to hear you have issues laurel, try Amazon
I need a glove to avoid trauma to my fingertips, as I dont want calluses and I also have Raynaud’s, so I cant sustain small vessel damage. If not this one, is there a similar product that you can recommend? I’d love to pick up learning guitar again, but this issue is holding me back
get back to us when you're in your 70s and your fingers are worn out from 50 years of bar chords.
I will always use this product.
It helps my nerve damage, tendentious, finger-joint damage and sweat problems. Wears out a little too quick, but it helps more than enough to justify buying a bunch a month.
Interestingly enough, a glove like that could help guitarists with focal dystonia. I had a piano student that I think had that issue.
Christian Münzner precisely wears one because of focal dystonia
Does it help eliminate sticky neck and frozen fingers? That’s what I want to know 👍🏽
It did help, yes
How are the maybach guitars?
I’m intrigued, if it helps with arthritis. I’ll look into it.
I’ve been using it actually. I like it!
would like to know if you put it on your picking hand and played with your thumb like i do how would it feel
I tried it. It feels slippery
@@TheGuitarGeek slippery good or bad lol
Just strange. I think it would be fine once one gets used to it
@@TheGuitarGeek just ordered them!
Jeff Parker stand in the limelight more often. 🌡💡🎶
I have a skin condition on my fingers which make me takes about a month long to heal in which I stop playing. do you think it could be my solution?
it's good for if you have some sort of finger injury but still want to play guitar. i cut a flap of skin off of my index finger a few years ago and didn't even realize it scarred over until i tried getting back into guitar, and one particular day of heavy practicing just absolutely destroyed that scar. glad this product exists for that purpose. it looks kinda odd though maybe i could get away with using one protector on that specific finger instead.
I have sensitive joints in cold and have been looking for something for that since I normally play outside and winter is coming
Edit: btws if it helps you at all, I've found carpal tunnel prevention stretches help with joint pain and circulation too!
@@TheGuitarGeek I will try that, thank you 🌹🌹
@@Zekran you’re welcome!
I'm here for my sweaty hand that feel sticky sliding over strings, occasionally hurt. Though not an absolute encouragement from Andy, but "surprisingly still can finger the chords" has been good enough to give it a try, plus the positive responds from the comments, thanks!!
I was wrong about these. I have an update coming
So does the maple colored glove sound brighter?
But of course
That’s a super cool idea. I’m pleasantly surprised to see how many people actually use the gloves
Possibly an option month or 2 down the line🤔
There are other reasons why some ppl would want to know about these products.
I use mittens, on both hands! It would suck if not for the slide bar.
Scott from Scotts base lessons wears one of these but that's more of a medical thing than a too sore to play thing. Can't see much use for the "normal" musician
For those with medical issues in our hands and fingers these are a godsend.
If you have damaged muscle it would make it far easier to get back into the guitar.
I was absolutely hoping for a video making fun of it and I LOL'd when you said "why are you watching this?"
lmfao "why are you watching this?"
Yes.. i was surprised too
im actually curious about this, I went fishing yesterday and my hands were too cold to play my acoustic
They could be for you!
i've seen it because i've got a disability on my fingers, looking for a nice way to keep playing...
This is hilarious!! Thanks for posting this. I think wearing a glove would hinder getting the fingers tough. I would not get it but I can see maybe using it at an outdoor gig when it's really cold. Maybe??? Great video.
I have seen Suzanne Vega wearing finger tip covers on her fretting hand, she sounded good.
I have a similar situation, did this glove help your fingertips?
Thank you.
Christian muenzner from obscura wears one to help out with his focal dystonia
Dude! You are hilarious! Good video.
I have small hands and play long scale bass in a band
I wear two gloves and there amazing cool
I take two fingers and a thumb off one
They help me to move fast slide i wouldn't be without mine amazing 💜
Does it still hurt or not, if you use glove?
You just sold me one. I want to try it because I suspect I have sensory issues. Might be awful! 😂
Great!! Enjoy! Would love to know how you get on
My left middle finger got the top smashed as a child and never healed back normally. It bleeds often when I play. This glove may work for me.
I could understand if it was a compression glove for arthritis....
It does slightly compress but only because it’s slightly too small. I think
I have arthritis in my hands. I've used compression gloves. They don't work.
@@jltrem I do as well, depends on where it is in your hand and the type of glove I suppose. Hard to play guitar in gloves whatever though
I just ended up here because I was doing some research on guitar playing with gloves since I'm developing a costume for live performing which includes long dress/opera gloves (the ones that go past your elbow) and kept wondering if other people achieved at least ok playing lol. Thanks for the video! My costume will be finished soon :)
Have you used them yet? If so, how are they?
Literally here because winter is coming.
I know nothing
All I know is that I really want to purchase whatever guitar gadget you used to achieve that Righteous Irish 'Fro!
