    I too have the Continental, and have had several pro tec cases over the years. I think you did a great job describing all the types of cases and their "strengths and weaknesses." Thanks for posting and sharing.

    I use the Reunion Blues Continental currently...it can work with lots of combinations which I love! I usually carry my B flat, C, and Flugelhorn all together and it works great! You can also do things like carry any 2 of those horns and mutes.

    You remind me of an old tv commercial for I think it was "Touristor luggage" where they had a gorilla real or fake throwing the luggage around to prove how sturdy it was ...funny commercial.

    Looking for a sturdy case for my trumpet and flugelhorn that I can put in the overhead. I think I'm stuck between the Wiseman and the Torpedo Coyote bag. Thoughts?

  • @Rufftips

    If you can find a Wolfpac triple case get it. This is a fine case with superior protection. It wont fit over head on every plane but you can gate check it and it will keep your horns safe as long as the plane lands on it's wheels.

    Gator are similar to the protect cases. They will protect your horn about the same and the build is similar. If you find one you like I think you will be happy in the long run.

    MrTrebleClefs99 Look for a skb-130 trumpet case or if you want a bit more storage look at the Gator GL series both are about $70.

  • @Rufftips
    @Rufftips  12 років тому

    Take a good look at the raw brass if you are looking at bullet proof. The Wiseman, Johnson are in the same league but the raw brass case can be thrown out a building, fall in a river and be recovered with no dents and no water damage.

    What are you thoughts on WolfPak? I'm looking for a 2.5 case and a Coyote is kind of out of the realm of possibility for me.

    Hi Jon, I’ve been binging a bunch of your videos the past few days! I’m in the market for an upgraded case OR gig bag right now, as I’ll likely be investing in a C trumpet in the near future and will require (at least) a double case- but I’ve been needing more room for mutes. I’m in high school still and will need something that’ll allow for day-to-day use. I was thinking about the RB Continental Voyager but haven’t seen a whole lot about it online. My second choice would be the Protec iPAC double case. What would you think is best about each? I also have an Eb Cornet that I’ll be using for a couple months that’ll need to carry with me in said case/bag.

    • @Rufftips
      @Rufftips  4 роки тому +1

      nschnitz The project double case it’s just that it’s a double case you’re not going to put mutes inside or a third instrument. I would definitely look at the reunion blues bag. I have had a flugelhorn a B-flat and lots of mucus inside that case. You can also put three instruments inside it. Another bag to consider would be the Guard triple. www.wwbw.com/Gard-Mid-Suspension-Triple-Trumpet-Gig-Bag-H67631-H67631000002002.wwbw?source=TWWR5J1BB&cntry=us¤cy=usd&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7Zm_sr3R5QIVNB-tBh2SegamEAQYAiABEgJf3vD_BwE
      I also think that the Protech triple bag is very much worth looking at. www.amazon.com/Protec-Triple-Horn-Removable-Storage/dp/B0002E569Y

    what are your thoughts on the gator cases?

  • @Rufftips
    @Rufftips  11 років тому

    The Wolfpak cases are good cases. It is my information they are not made anymore. The 2.5 is available but it is not like the Torpedo. It utilizes an over under, not side by side design. These cases have to be carefully packed. They are not my favorite design, I think this is why there are so many left. I would look at a something like a ptotec triple with wheels or the Reunion Blues Continental triple bag. Keep in mind you need to be a bit more protective of your instruments in these cases.

      Rufftips what about a case that you can just throw a lock onto?

    • @Rufftips
      @Rufftips  6 років тому

      Not sure what you are trying to achieve. Locks are fairly useless on trumpet cases as a thief will simply take the entire case. Cases had locks on them back in the day to keep them from accidentally coming open because of the type of laches commonly used at the time. Cases use zippers these days thus solving this issue. If you fly you have to have a lock that the airline can access. You might try a hardware store for ideas. Good luck.
