I almost cry with you telling the story of this book, and now I want to read it! I guess I miss crying on the bus going home while reading a good book. And oh, you talk abou drawing while listening to the audiobook, and I’ve been doing calligraphy for a while now and it’s been very helpful. So for those who, for some reason, want to star drawing, but don’t have the “courage” like me, calligraphy or lettering is an amazing start! (And it also has a course on skillshare for it)

Some of the heaviest stories are people's actual lives, huh? Can definitely relate to questions with identity growing up mixed/multi race (I'm indian/vietnamese/portugese), and that can add to the regular struggles of dealing with your parents and being a young person which most people can relate to, but I guess we all find a place in our lives and our families that works eventually. Also, how you can listen to an audiobook and do anything else, I don't know, but it seems to do wonders for your watercolours !

I like the way you've changed up angles, scenery, talking footage, and voice-overs. My favorite is probably when you're talking to the camera about the book's plot intercut with voice-over and footage of you painting. Whether or not you were inspired by other vloggers, keep up the variety of shots! Maybe shadow puppets next time? ^J^

Why am I crying about you explaining the book at 8:09 and I haven’t even read the book 😭🥺 I can’t imagine loosing my parents. This is definitely going on my to be read list, my heart is not prepared. I can already identify myself with the character my mums love language is very much through cooking for me and others, she was never taught how to be affectionate so I have always struggled with her not being caring in that way with me but I realised overtime that her love language is just different and that’s ok.

It was difficult to see this vlog hehe I lost my mother three years ago and it is something that changes your life in many ways, seeing you empathize with the situation was container, like a friend telling you "it's difficult, it's sad, it's valid how you feel". I also think that it is important that there are books that talk about grief because people are afraid to speak and whenever they have a close friend they treat him with to much care sometimes and I think it's easier for everyone to talk :)

Hi Cary! just wanted to say that chronic astma can be triggered by a lot of factors including pollutants, chemicals, allergies, pregnancy etc. Better to go to a doctor if you experience symptoms and get at least some emergency relief medication to have at home for days when you feel sick like that. I have it and I know that it can be a pain, but it can be managed. :)

    How I listen to audiobook.
    - I lay down in bed or anywhere
    - close my eyes (for better imagination and to make me focus on the audiobook)(and I will make some scene in my head about all of the things I see at that time)
