  • My SQ80 was a victim of the infamous clacky keybed problem when I first got it so I was glad to hear there was a company called Syntaur that had a solution. Unfortunately, their rebuild kit was out of stock for the longest time so I got impatient and decided to take matters into my own hands. I'm very happy with the result I got. It's been a year since I made this modification and still it's holding strong. I'm not sure how this compares to Syntaur's rebuild kit but it is certainly cheaper. The keys feel great, are totally silent, and the aftertouch responds better than it did before. Hopefully this helps you with your SQ80.
This is the type of weather stripping I used:
    M-D 17-ft x 5/16-in x 1/4-in White Rubber Window Weatherstrip

Here's a link to Markus Fuller's channel for the battery replacement and then another link to Kirk Slinkard's channel for the custom floppy disks.

Super helpful vid! I'm in the process of changing batteries and cleaning keys on my SQ80 and ESQ-1 and this was great to have!

Thanks for the valuable info! If you could possibly specify the brand name/type/dimensions of the particular "half-moon" weatherstripping you successfully used, that would be great! (Does manufacturer call it "half-moon"?)

I got rid of the package long ago but after looking it up i’m pretty sure it is the same as what I just put in the description of the video.

@@adamfaler887Thanks. Were you browsing Ebay, Amazon, Home Depot, or somewhere else in vid? Couldn't tell...
