As a daughter I would love to have my mother’s Bible with notes. Even if they don’t right now I feel like it may be something they would cherish in the future. It would be nice if you had one for each of your children if they want one. I am a recent subscriber and I really enjoy your content. I love cleaning and decluttering…Started several years ago and I am hooked.
You do a wonderful job. I think we all realize that everything is not done in a day that you are completely honest, I enjoy that most! I also really enjoy that your husband is involved and does not mind being in the videos. There are so many husbands who want nothing to do with that and even scowl when they're involved.❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
I only have 3 drawers in the kitchen. No drawers in my bathrooms. Today i am decluttering the 3. Thank you for being yourself on these videos. Thank you for being open and honest. That is why i watch all your videos. As others have said about your Bibles. Donate or find someone standing with a need help sign. Someone will benefit from your notes. It can help them understand the verses. Enjoyed this junk drawer video.
Hi, your neighbor here from New Hampshire. I so get what you're saying. Life is busy. There is no energy at the end of the day or weekends. Videos of spotless minimalistic houses with happy smiling faces is not real. But you are real. If an hour here or there or the next day is what life brings, that is okay. That is your life. You have a career and a family. The fact we all get done what we do is nothing short of a miracle. PS - the weather in New Hampshire and Maine we've been having lately doesn't help.
I love that you show so clearly that you take breaks. And that you wait with the next day tasks to the next video. I needed that today.
I am too tired to clean and tidy, but it is needed. But if you cant do all in one day, then it is ok that I can't either.
And I also love to see your cleaning videos. Most cleaning channels are so different from my life. They often have so many specialised tools, and deep clean to such an extent that I can't resonate.
Summed up, please continue as you do.
When you have figured out your morning routine again, may we see it?
❤
Thank you for the real talk at the end. I like the idea of posting what you do in a single day in each video, especially when you're posting every day.
This posting everyday is really helping you get stuff done!! You go girl!!!! 💜
Yes it is!! I hope I can stay in the rhythm!! 😍
I like the reset videos as well as decluttering videos.
Thank you! 🥰
I love all your videos. ❤ the Bibles are more useful WITH notes and highlights. Donate them or bring them to church. Someone will take them. Love you. Btw, I am Marcia from Buffalo, NY. I am always making lists and organizing. And I declutter this time of year. Keep going, you got this Girl
I have never had a junk drawer! batteries are in the battery box, tools in toolbox, mail and office supplies in hall table to use for outgoing items, sewing box, shoe care kit, etc. Headed out to the car wash. I made myself vac and dust the bedrooms, and clean sheets on son’s bed. I am really having to push myself to keep on track.
Same! No junk drawer, I just don’t believe in them. It’s a mindset thing. I have an office drawer and utility drawer, no junk in sight!
Never had a junk drawer and have never had the need!
Keep keeping it real, Karen....that's why we're all here. ❤ Realness. ❤
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! 💗
Karen, YES I loved what you said at the end of today’s video. 👏 I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating, that keeping it real is where your channel totally succeeds for me. You did a fantastic job today showing the realities of what it is to up-keep a home and you should be proud.
Personally, when I heard that the channel I think you were referring to🤔 employed help with their home, I thought:“That makes sense because they do so many other things (podcast, lectures, courses, home reno’s, looking after their own children etc.) and yet their home nearly always looked pretty deep cleaned and organised. So, even if they can get their house picked up in 5 to 15 minutes each day themselves, they aren’t really the ones doing the full actual deep cleaning.” This made me feel slightly like they hadn’t been honest until the point in which they explained that they employed someone part time. That said, I do really like watching their channel and think it’s nice that they can afford help. However, your so right Karen, that isn’t most of us. Many of us either don’t have the financial means to do that, or don’t want people to visit their homes to clean for other reasons, such as:
1. People who are carers for elderly relatives who don’t like strangers in the house,
2. People whose house is mid way through a renovation,
3. People who like personal privacy,
4. People who have large memorabilia collections they don’t want people to know about; or
5. People who hoard etc.
Also Karen, you know I love that you show the tiny tidy stuff like sorting out random boxes, bags, junk draws and miscellaneous items because it is often the little jobs and collections of small or fiddly items that we all procrastinate about and put of doing; and those jobs are often the ones that give us the most satisfaction when completed. ❤
16:16 I super glued the little felt pads to my chair legs 🤭
That's a really good idea! 😃
Karen, this was so helpful to watch. You suddenly remembered that you had a box of items under your bed. Me too. A stack of mailer envelopes.. I'd discovered them the other day. perfectly useable. I pulled them out and now they can co away. It feels so good.
I have my yoga pad under there and a box that an old doll belonged in.
It feels great that the mailers and the doll box can get recycled.
Thanks.
Cheers
Great job! You know ive just never understood refrigerator shelf liners ...they just add more to keep clean. I just spray and wipe down my shelves using vinegar and water
Just to throw in my stance as a sub... I watch all your videos...clean and organizing/decluttering. I find your videos so motivating and enjoy you, the family appearances and of course your partner that keeps you on task 🐈
Love the title of the video.... brilliant!
So pleased you are keeping your videos real and what you can realistically do in one day. I beryvmuch appreciate that. X
Thank you so much, dear friend!! 😃
It doesn’t take much to make us happy. Lol. Well done.
🤣 So true!
I think lots of people would like to have ready-made annotations in a Bible they bought. It looks friendly and could be helpful.
Good chat. Keeping it real
Isnt it amazing when you actually realize how much you have personally decluttered . Dont be surprised if down the line you start having second thoughts for the things you are holding on to for others ! Lol
Thanks for this video you talked me through a decluttering pass through our junk drawer, pet bucket, and utility bucket. You did a great job rehoming and condensing--it helps so much for the eye to have resting places.
My husband and I each have a small flashlight in our bedroom in case electric goes out at night. We also have flashlights in our Utility Drawer in the kitchen. This drawer also holds screwdrivers, scissors, and a hammer. Also chip clips are in this drawer because there is room. Probably should go somewhere else. We also have an Office Drawer that holds pens, paper, scotch tape, and menus. My husband has a Junk Drawer in the kitchen but I want him to empty this drawer and put all that stuff in a box under the bed because he has 2-3 boxes already under there and has all that kind of junk in them.
Give Bible to grandkids for there 8th birthday would be a cool gift from grandma
There are Bible donation projects where they accept Bibles in any condition. They will then (depending on the condition) get them to the mission field or will recycle them for you. I looked online and there is a place called Love Packages that has a mailing address you could ship them too. My church's scouting organization has a big camporee this year and they do a Bible and a Buck where they usually get around 20,000 Bibles to send to the mission field.
Love your videos. I am amazed that you accomplish all that you do with so many people in your household. Great job. I usually get backlash in “comments” when I say this, but I think as 21st century women, we have the idea that we should be able to “do it all“. That is a very big unrealistic expectation of real life in our present day culture.
Back before World War II, women had home help- unmarried, sisters, spinster or widowed aunts, grannies or hired help-to mind the young children, cook, and clean. And these women, for the most part, did not teach their children at home. Their children went to school. I heard it said that today’s women who hold a job are expected to work like they have no family and keep house like they have no full time job. Not possible. It is no wonder so many women seek professional, mental therapy counseling. The expectation is too great. Women need to accept that they cannot do it all and they should not be expected to do it all and they should never feel like a failure if they have dishes in the sink or undone laundry. Shame on husbands or extended family members who shame the women for a “messy” house. And, take into consideration that most households before the 1960’s did not have the quantity of things that we find in our homes today. They didn’t exist. Consider a family back in 1919 with nine children and each child has three school outfits and one church outfit. That laundry comes nowhere even near the quantity of laundry (including towels, etc.) a family of four generates in a week in our day. . . Like Dawn The Minimal Mom and Dana K. White advise, have less stuff to manage and only the quantity of belongings that you can manage (if you care about the way your house looks to *other* people).
Love the bag of stuff to go to the basement - great idea to get it put away!
I would be throwing those extra screws in the trash, but I do not use screws.
I appreciate the heart to heart talk. I understand exactly what you mean.
Fabulous job!!!!
It might be good to keep it small flashlight accessible on each level of your home.
There is! 😃
I took a look in my garage, and every single item needs to be there: All season tire set that will be switched with the snow, a heater, cleaning supplies, tool box, Christmas. I have an electrical, plumbing, painting supply crates, and the step ladder. all garden is in garden shed. great going!
That’s an awesome accomplishment!! 🙌
Hi Karen, no decluttering today. Ran errands all day. Got home, sat down and watched your video!
I would have sat down after errands too!! 😍
Helloo Karen! Oh I have spent a lovely couple of hours catching up on your videos, I have had an awful virus, really took its toll on me. I couldn’t summon the energy to do anything but sleep! Not like me at all.
So wonderful to see you and Robin getting so much done and to see you clearing out so many items without even having to mull over the decision was wonderful, you’re right decluttering muscles do get stronger, I’m off to have another coughing fit but send you much love and light.🥰🥰
I love your content. (You already know. 🙂) I had a tough week. The plan was to paint my bedroom tomorrow but I think I´m to tired (and I have no more paint). As I get older (I´m 45 by the way) I try to respect my body, my mind, my energy and my bandwidth (is that what you said?). Have a wonderful weekend! 🤗
I love all your videos! You are great company when I am folding my laundry. Your gentle motivation encourages me to get up and do the tasks I dread. I feel with you posting more often I am working on the neglected parts of my house for example the windows and blinds!
Day made!! 😃
You might need to keep flashlight in/near the bedrooms. The lights might go during the night.
Everyone has one in their bedrooms. 😍
You need a battery daddy. It is a life saver. It stores so many different batteries.
Good to know, thanks! 😃
When one of the girls moves out, will you move back into Fran's old room?
I’m not sure…
You do what you can Karen your house is lived in you do a good job one thing one room one item at a time
maybe donate it to like a senior center or a sunday school or sometlhing.
lol on the language with age I usually just say thingy
Haha!
❤❤❤
Hi Karen! I have been decluttering in our bedroom this week, our medicine closet included. Our "whatchamacallits" cabinet is in our laundry room. Not particularly looking forward to tackling that one but it will be sooo good when it's done!
Decluttering feels so GOOD when it’s DONE! ✅😃
2:59 if you put the flashlight with storm stuff, will you still have at least one readily available on each floor?
We do because each person has one in their bedroom and we have 2 bedrooms of each floor. 😃 Plus we have our phones.
🙏🤗
SOMEONE may want the bible with the highlits and notes. They may appreciate the notes you provide and perspective
Good point! 😃
I have NO junk drawer!! Tools in tool box. Office supplies in desk drawer.. Matches/lighters with birthday candles. Extra keys are labelled and on key rack. Electronic cords in desk drawer.
Yes!! Inspiring!! 🙌🙌
@@ThisMainerMomI thought you were nearly there today. Ready for blue tape with painting supplies, extension cards in basement, command hooks in small bin in basement, batteries in the desk!!
@ucfhillcollege8296 so close…
Donate the Bibles. Someone would love your handwritten notes and highlights. It would be a blessing to someone starting out their Faith journey! God will direct the right person to find it and cherish it.
I know you are right about Temu and being controversial however, they use many of the same suppliers that Amazon does so why not get it cheaper if you can either way still come from the same place.
Yes so true!
Hey Karen
At 3:52, you tossed trash that had blue stickers that help to put the screen protector onto your phone. How do I know this you ask? I just recently placed one on mine and it had all these steps and it included the sticker to keep from touching the screen etc… I hope you can still retrieve if need be. 😊
Woops! Thanks for the heads up! 🙌
hi
Hi!
Save the Bibles for your grandkids
Just throw the random screws away, I promise nobody will miss them
So true...
a bible is just paper Karen, Gods word is sacred, which is in your thought as it should be. God would not be offended if you declutter a used bible. Have your kids go through arts n crafts if needs some declutter. 🙏🙏💗💗🌿🌿💮💮🎶🎶someone made a note to donate to your church if you are comfortable with that.
Donate the Bibles. You never know how the Lord will use your underlines/highlights to bless someone else. :)
True…
Could you donate the Bibles to your children. What a special memento of faith for them to look back on when you are no longer here.
That’s true…I should ❤️.
