Well, took me 53 years to realize idolatry is at the very core of Christianity. It just never entered my consciousness while being active Christian. Only after like 20 RTS talks it sank in.

Christians are more honest with the word of God than Jews. When God said, "Let Us make man in Our image.." (Gen 1:26), Christians said God used a plural pronoun "us". Jews however said "US" refers to God + angels to avoid plurality of God. Angels do not create man. Does Human image look like image of angel?. Because of that, they accused Christians of idolatry. They never look at themselves as idolators. Rabbis said Muslims believe in one true God. That means they believe Allah and God of Abraham are the same God. That's idolatry as Allah swears to wind and mountain whereas God of Abraham swears to himself. Biblical Abraham's father is called Terah whereas Islamic Abraham's father is called Azar. A world of difference.

Jewish obligations are more restrictive and numerous. Gentiles have no obligation to accept them.

I think it was Paul and Constantine who brought idolatry into the Christian Church. Paul predated the gospellers; he invented a new other god Jesus (and maybe The Father, too, castigating YHWH as the Demiurge). It was the criminal Constantine who brought graven images into the church from the Imperial Cult and the cult of Sol Invictus at the least.
Edit to make clear it was Paul who invented Jesus as opposed to the historical Jesus, who was _not_ the Jesus of the gospels!

"Mary mother of God" isn't a phrase found in the NT, and worshipping or praying to Mary isn't mentioned either.
Great reply by Tovia Singer. There's almost nothing in this video about idolatry (which is mentioned in the title,) but it is very much about the Christian & Jewish definition of "God." One fault I would point out is that Christians don't view the "Demiurge" as the Word, or Jesus. They view the original God as the Demiurge, which is of course a Gnostic tradition of viewing God as really being the Devil, because of things like fire & brimstone & anything else you might not like God for (slavery, war brides, killing the innocents) while leaving the door open to Jesus as being a god of "Love," especially since Jesus fought now wars and destroyed nothing, especially the Roman occupation & oppression of Israel.

Rabbi, after doing research I found that Jesus for the Christians is similar to the Greek god Hermes, who was believed to be the intermediary between man and the gods. In Christianity, Jesus is also seen as an intermediary between man and G-d, this why the New Testament was written in Greek not in Hebrew or Aramaic?

There is an argument that the John verse the "word was God" and "the word became flesh".. is speaking about a 'debar', that is hebrew context of 'Plan' ,, it is the "plan" which is a divine plan (ie, God ordained plan). not that the 'word is God' but that the 'word/plan is divine', and this divine plan became 'flesh' , that is it was manifested into time and history. . thus it reads "And the plan was God's and the Plan was divine".. and "This plan has come into being (come to pass, ie became real/flesh)" ... and of course in John's mind this divine plan was the God ordained plan of the coming of the Messiah which he thinks was Jesus. . the interpretation of these texts making the word Jesus, the god man, came much later from the corrupt church, but was not the original thought of the author .. that's the argument anyhow

As well it should be noted that the word for FLESH in John 1:14, in Greek is "sarx," which is record 147 times in the New Testament, and can simply mean the Plan BECAME A REALITY, or, MANIFESTED.
But .. Trinitarians take sarx here to mean "literal flesh." Bible Unitarians hold sarx is simply talking about the *"earthly manifestation"* of God's Plan of Redemption for humanity.

Now as a person clinging to the Jewish faith, the Unitarian's still have far too high of a Christology for my view of the Hebrew scriptures and adeherence to the Shema (Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Andonai Echad).. a high christology does not fit into the concept that God is one and HE is the only Savior or Redeemer and has no Son other then Israel by way of Covenant

I enjoy listening to your program even though it is a skewed perspective. There are *numerous* passages in the Tanakh that point to Yeshua as the Messiah. i know that you have explanations for each one, some seem convincing, others not so much.
The Catholic Church returned to polytheism by creating a plethora of saints. And it is a good thing, because this brings the church and the religion closer to people, and closer to the Greco-Roman culture Christianity grew from. It makes Christianity richer, more flexible, more embracing, and more alive. Every new saint adds his or her thoughts and deeds to the common pool, in effect enriching the Christian intellectual landscape continuously. Christianity is not a cult of one dead book. The real Bible of Christianity is an endless library of live books that are being contributed to by all its followers every day.

The cherubim, which were placed over the Ark of the Covenant, were commanded by God Himself and represented the divine presence. They were not worshipped, but they represented God's throne and were used to communicate with Moses (Exodus 25:18-22). The Nehushtan was initially used to heal people during a plague, but yes, it later became an object of worship. But King Hezekiah destroyed it to stop idolatry. (2 Kings 18:4).

I had questions maybe you do to. So let's have a quick talk about the glory of God. So his glory is to conceal a matter and the duty of kings to search out a matter. So if we take the literal interpretation that is not concealed. No glory. Just as our flesh conceals our spirit. The literal interpretation conceals the spiritual interpretation. So the keys of David are basically images representing things/words as revealed in scripture by the holyspirit. This is also what the father in heaven has revealed. To search out a matter that would be goin through scripture to learn these keys. Because the church will not tell you and it is really hard to find like minded people. What did jesus say one in a thousand two in ten thousand. Sure there are alot of like minded people look at all the churches. They all have a literal interpretation and jesus taught a spiritual interpretation. Men of God wrote Scripture inspired by the holy spirit. God the Father is a spirit and he wrote the ten commandments with his finger. It was all wrote in the spirit to be understood in the spirit. Adam made of dirt so his flesh is dirt so wash it away and spirit underneath because God breathed a spirit in to him. The spark of life because the spirit gives life eternal. So we get baptised and the outside is like the inside eyes and ears of spirit. We are supposed to be living on earth as if we are in heaven. So it all spiritual and a literal interpretation and traditions of men is what Christ's come to liberate people from the first time.but this time he is sending his elect to prepare the way peter the church needs to become a son of John the elect one's. Because they have gone astray peter the church has not feed his sheep. Remember what Jesus says to him next. Someone will guide him show him the way in his old age so the end of the church age. So the church understanding has to change to a spiritual interpretation. Any thoughts how we can speed this process

I am a member of the Baha’i Faith. Trinity not only exists in every religion, but in philosophy as well. In the Mosaic dispensation there was (1) Elohim, the "I AM," (2) the burning bush and (3) Moses; in Christianity, (1) the Father, (2) the Holy Ghost and (3) the Son; in Islam, Allah, Gabriel and Mohammed. In philospohy we say, the mover, the motion and the moved; the cause of causes, the cause and the effect; the Illuminator, the illumination and the illuminated; the Creator, the creation, the created; the teacher, the knowledge, the student; the Giver of bounty, the bounty, and the recipient of the bounty. In principle, every religionist believes in this explanation in so far as it applies to the founder of his own faith; but when this same principle is applied to the founder of another religion, he refuses to accept it. Thus, while they are agreed as to reality, they disagree in mere names and historical personalities. But at no point such concept as Trinity would imply that the essence of the three components of Trinity are one and the same.
The mistake I believe our dear brothers and sisters in Christ have made for centuries is that they have not understood the difference and relationship between Divine Attributes and Divine Essence. As Baha’is we believe the true reality of Christ is eternal and beyond any human estimation or measure. We believe as the Bible believes that this eternal reality has manifested Himself from age to age in the temple of different manifestations such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, just to name few, and in this age He has manifested Himself in the person of Bahá’u’lláh (means “The Glory of God”). Imagine the sun, the rays of the sun and a perfectly clear mirror in which the sun is reflected in. When a Manifestation of God claims to be God, it is absolutely true, “because” the rays of the Sun of reality is reflected in the mirror of that manifestation. This is why Christ said, “….Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father….” (John 14:9 NIV). This does not mean that the essence of the Sun (an analogy for the essence of God) itself has moved 93 million miles from the space and has literally gone into the mirror (an analogy or a metaphor for the Lord Jesus Christ). The Essence of God at no point has become one with the mirror (the person of Jesus the Christ), BUT the attributes of the Sun (a metaphor here for God) are reflected in the mirror (a metaphor again for Jesus the Christ)--and if the mirror could talk and if it claimed that the sun is in the mirror or that they are one, it would not be speaking falsely. And if the mirror claimed that it is just a mirror and nothing more, it again would be speaking the truth. And if the sun in the mirror were to consider the attributes of the sun and therefore claimed to be the same sun in the sky, it again would be speaking the truth; and if the sun in the mirror considered its own essence and claimed NOT to be the exact essence of the same sun which is located some 93 million miles away in space, it again would be speaking the truth.
Therefore, when the Lord Jesus Christ claims:

Representing Moses and the Hebrew children going into the desert to receive the 1st covenant of the law that the slave woman produced. A thousand years later just as Isaac was a supernatural birth as Sarah was past child bearing age so to was Jesus born super naturally producing the faith based Abrahamic covenant that God intended in the first place had Abraham not become impatient and produced the slave woman covenant first.
@@user-wd7ex4gr6b See Karen the reason the Jewish community can’t accept Jesus as messiah is because their perspective is of the earthly kingdom during the millennium which is a levitic priesthood kingdom where the kingship and the priesthood are two separate offices requiring two anointed to run it. This is the 1st covenant and is under the levitic/law rules. The new covenant is under the melchelzedek priesthood where one messiah can be both king and high priest. When you have two priesthoods you have to have two separate kingdoms, which we do and the levitic priesthood is earthly and requires 2 anointed and the melchelzedek is heavenly and only requires 1 anointed which is Jesus. 2 KINGDOMS….2 PRIESTHOODS…2 COVENANTS….SIMPLE AS THAT. During the millennium God will combine the old covenant/the law for holiness with the new covenant of faith in Jesus for salvation. This dispensation for the last 2000 years has been the testing of the gentiles and the part they failed in is the holiness part because the relied too much on the grace part of this dispensation . God fixes this by combining the 2 covenants. The law for holiness and the faith in Jesus for salvation.

No where in the gospels do I see him commanding his followers to worship him like he was God. Nevertheless, I could never see myself as a Bnei Noach. You have to accept the rabbis and place your salvation on what they say. They came up with the 7 Noahide laws and they are not even listed in Genesis.
But ... I do find the words of Christ more moralistic and covering the affairs of a person's life more than the 7 Noahide laws they present. And this is the reason why I would remain a Gospel Only Unitarian. I believe in the words of Jesus and know first hand that he is God appointed Deliverer - necessary to accept for salvation.

Who was the Lord in human form who came to visit Abraham at the Oaks of Mamre. Who was the angel of God's presence in Exodus who helped Israelites cross the red sea. Jesus Christ is the SON of JEHOVAH. He came as an innocent Jew in 1st century and preached about the kingdom of his FATHER , was sinless and incorruptible and performed unimaginable miracles including healing multitude of afflicted and sick Jews. Yet he was put to death by the Jewish leadership of that time. Almost as strange as modern Jews who claim that their predecessors never worshipped anyone but one God though we can see that this is plainly not the case.. there’s a whole council of gods in the Torah, whether you want to call them angels or sons of Elohim or what. Yet many times things are obscured by translation, almost purposefully to create distance from the obvious Canaanite influence that was around them??
