The Ruby Tuesday
I was left with so many questions at the end of this show... it was unlike anything ive ever seen, an amazing horrifying story
What were some of your questions
Feeling's the same. I am curious as to who's the real monster, and if Sum really loved the guy.. i think i need more enlightenment abt its ending tho' hahaha
Okay where do i start...?
1) samantha
Her role in all of this is unclear to me..She obviously cared about kim sum (wheter it was geniune or just because of the company idk) so why did she "only" threaten seong yun-o once but never did anything serious... i mean she had more than enough evidence or was it because she was to afraid for her own/the companys sake
2) whatever was going on at around 40 min in the 8th episode (i dont even have words for this)
3) backstory of the killer
We know how his first kill happened (it was more of an accident actually) and i asume thats how he found out about his passion for murder but why is he that way? Is he simply born a psychopath or did something traumatic happen in his past? This information is not necesarily important for the story but im still curious
4) how the hell are im mok-won and young gi-eun still alive
I asume the reson why he didnt kill the girl in the wheelchair the first time was because she was a target that was too "easy" to kill directly... but she kept searching for him together with her friend and he knew about it!!! They were both witnesses who could become very dangerous for him but he never killed them even though he easily could have? Maybe he enjoyed simply torturing young gi-eun? Or was it because both girls were friends with kim sum? Or did he get excited that someone was catching on to him.. (i dont think thats it)
5) kim sum knew the truth
She knew about his murder and obviously didnt care (probably because she enjoys it too), she knew about him breaking somebody the computer/her best friend (she only talked to him about it once) and later she knew about him and young gi-eun but most importantly i asume she knew about him beeing agape... did she not really care about these things or did was she "blinded" by his love?!?
6) lastly.. why did she kill him?
Was it because of all the reasons in 4)..? Somewhere i read a theory that she pitied him kind of like the cat she killed in the beginning but im not sure about this theory.. also the way she did it leaves me with questions! Why the fake call why cut his eyes?
I believe this covers all of my questions hahhaa... also generally i wanna say it surprised me that the police was never even close to arresting him/catching him but yeah.
Hope u got some answers for me ;)
@@AlexandraBGan yeah i know right?!?! The ending left me speechless :0
@@hanana013 My thoughts: 1) Samantha did do stuff ... she created the videos of the dead ppl that were sent to Yuno. And other stuff she was doing indirectly through Mokwon ... I don't fully understand the video stuff, tho.
2) Yuno was supposed to kill Sum atp but not having sex represented his murderous impotence when it came to her (he has realised that he's fallen in love with her) and overall, loss of power as the police closed in. Feel he also knows she is going to kill him, represented in her getting off and his conflicted expressions whilst she was doing so.
3) He was traumatized. He's got scars on his body, talks about learning to make rat mazes from long hours spent alone and get triggered when ppl talk about his mum. His preferred kill method is smothering women to death like he's giving them a hug. He's a psychopath that was nurtured into one in contrast to Sum, who was born with a mental disorder.
4) He leaves Mokwon alive but finds it more interesting to leave her to be killed by the environments she's put in, just like the way cats play with things they drag in. He can't be bothered to kill her. There's no thrill in it coz she's disabled. He leaves GiEun alive prob out of some respect for Sum.
5) Sum did care - she killed him. Just dealt with some denial first.
6) Yeah, the cat death was foreshadowing. She killed him coz she decided he deserved it and he was in obvious pain. He probably orchestrated his own suicide in a way, too ... Isle's House architect plan that he invited her to as a stage for his own death was very sparse in contrast to the mazes he set up for other ppl. She's a murder now too and needs an outlet, but had to mentally process who the victim should be. Had to ask her father figure dude 1st if it was ok to kill innocent ppl. When she realised it wasn't, he had to go. He trashed her computer and put her in a dark place - 1st by encouraging her to kill cats, then giving her a razor blade and finally with the dominatrix maze (again like building his own murderer to commit suicide with). In a way, he also blamed her for making him a killer with the app she created and expressed this when he trashed Someone.
A unique kind of love story , true friendship , disturbing, creepy, but the performance of all actors are excellent ( should win an awards )
I really enjoyed this series...creepy, dark and atmospheric. Neither of the main characters are really likeable, so it wasn't a drama where we have a killer that we actually root for. I heard this was based on the book American Psycho and was rather perplexed by that because, aside from the male lead being a killer, that's where the parallels end.
I don't see kdrama twitter talking about this. Probably because it's so different from your normal kdrama.
Yeah, its odd
Have no doubt this drama left us with many questions to ask. The thing i don't get in this drama is about seong yunoh's character in the last ep. He seems a bit different when he left sum's house( i don't understand those teary eyes). His facial expressions are portraying smth else. Can anyone explain me please?
Maybe he knew deep down that she would do this but is hoping that she doesn’t unalive him? I found him to be acting very weird. He probably realized that he can’t have the life that he wants with her 🤷🏿♀️
Love your kdrama reviews, need more please! 🤓
I watched this its kdrama next level... The romance, the lust, the intrigue and i loves it all... The last scene tho.... Yikes.!!!!!
Omg.. last ep was way too much.. 😢
My eyes hurt.😂
I thought everybody who indulges in social media relationships shld c this well made drama
Aside from Netflix where can I watch this film
@@seyicecy4059 Kiss asian
Okay...so I just finished this series and it was so good and psychotic 🔥
I’ve a question. Are the nudity real? They seem so real. I’m so confused.
@@elijnr I think it's real
@@elijnr No, most actors have body suits on
I am still by ep 5 and I will return with my honest view but rn I am loving the slow burn and the creepiness
Am I the only one who thinks the lighting is too dark in this series? There are many crucial night scenes where I could barely see anything to understand what's going on.
Didn't have an issue with it.
I feel the same way when i was watching it yesterday i was like i cant see anything thats going on lol
i agree i have to adjust the brightness every now and then, since you'll get blasted with a white screen after a dark af scene
I agree! I had to watch it on the TV cause on the phone I couldn't see anything
Love this drama though, yeah, is very disturbing , and believe it or not, made me cry at the end for what it all meant in both of the characters lives
"Somebody" brought me here. Thanks for te review. Got the sub/
Welcome
I had very high hopes with this show but I found it extremely slow and so many things that made absolutely no sense. Spoiler alert.
1. All the characters seemed so weird, like no one is normal in that show except may be the shaman girl. Like people in general don’t behave like that for eg. Gi-eun ( the wheelchair girl ) who’s a cop but has absolutely no brains, there’s no plan or logic to her actions. The demolition workers who just watched as a wheelchair person just goes about frolicking in a site that’s to be demolished in a few mins. No one was helping her guide out. Sum who knows that Yun-o is the killer from the very beginning and still goes out with him ( she’s not dumb, she knows the danger but they want to somehow attribute that to her being on the spectrum, which makes no sense). Sum sides with her killer boyfriend even after knowing he tried to kill her best friend twice. She, in a way, abandons everyone for him and to what end?
It was so stupid. I thought as the episodes progressed I would understand the characters better and it would all finally make sense to me. But no, the show goes on and on to make these characters more confusing. The only character that made an ounce of sense was of the shaman, the rest seemed so crazy. Why the sudden teary eyes in Yun-o ‘s case or sudden change of sides on Sum’s part? It was such a crazy show that made no sense when infact it had so much potential. And did I mention how slow it was ? There are times when the characters take super long pauses and I wondered if I hit pause on the remote or something. If I had known it was mainly a confused drama interrupted by occasional thriller aspect or senseless violence I won’t have watched it.
thats what i thought too...all stupid
Wow I don't think I can deal with the cat scenes. I am surprised I haven't heard of this either. I'm a kdrama addict. But this doesn't sound like a typical kdrama. "Hell is Other People" is quite dark and bizarre too.
Thanks, I hadn't heard of that one either
@@TheRubyTuesday its not new but its really strange and creepy and dark. I'm frustrated now because I looked to see if its still on Netflix and it isn't
Watch king of pigs
I'm the same - I want to watch Hell Is Other People but won't coz I saw the cat scene in the trailer. But watching this, the cat CGI is so bad that it doesn't feel so bad.
Hell is Other People is suppeeeerrr good! Definitely recommended
I was not interested at first but your review gave me reasons to watch it, I will watch it after 1899
Be warned it's dark, slow and weird
I loved 1899..Somedy is great just keep me on my toes still at episode 4
!!!!SPOIL ALERT!!!!
I am beginning episode 5. I dont like the way they have made it look like Asbergers is equal to psychopathic . People who don't understand Asbergers might get the wrong idea about Asbergers. Also she goes from showing no emotion to laughing and smiling. It seems unrealistic.
My son is high functioning with autism, he can go from no emotion to full emotion from one moment to the next. It just depends on what is happening
@@TheRubyTuesday ok. Thanks for telling me that. I should know more than I do.
@@sherryrose3777 that's just my perspective as a parent. The autistic spectrum is massive I know next to nothing compared to what knowledge is out there and differences of each person. One person on the spectrum can be completely different to another. So you may be right as well. Apologies if my writing came off harsh. Wasn't intentional. 🙂
@@TheRubyTuesday I didn't take it as harsh. You're not a harsh person. You're right. Every person is unique. No worries! 🙂
I have to confess something about the show though...not my favorite kdrama lol! Well done but pretty rough!
I loved this it was creepy the actors were great but yuh no was rlly scary for the fact that he was agape and loved her
There is also a korean series like this a psychopath thriller that stars Lee Dong Wook...my God he is so cute..
Compelling, brilliant performances, disturbing, popcorn 🍿
Can you...can ANYONE tell me what the song is from Somebody, Episode 2, when the two girls have just gotten out of the club and are in the car and talking and then the one with the shorter hair gets dropped off in front of the convenience store? It's in the background but my SoundHound won't pick it up. :( As for the OST I cannot find it as of now)
If you haven't found it yet, I think it's "I got what you want" - Jayda Jackson.
Wow dark..it's certainly creative/different
Well I didn't understand a lot of things. I mean even if He was a serial killer who the F gave Sum the right to kill him that too with such brutality, when the detectives were trying to find evidence against him. how did she get away with 2 murders? And the exact motivation /urge for the guy for killing all those girls was not clear till the end.
No, his motivations were clear, his is mentally broken and likes to hunt women. She I felt could be a killer as well. That's what I think season 2 could be. She is becoming the aerial killer. In fact I thought it was her for a while
the first murder she committed was literally self defense because that man was about to brutally rape her and she decided to be the one to kill him because she didn’t want anyone else to be involved with his death since she still loved him
@@TheRubyTuesday and idk how u think that there’s gonna be a season 2 where she’s a serial killer, she showed which path she chose when she decided to kill him so he could stop hurting people. she’s never actively tried to kill anyone before, she was just wrapped up in his idea of a perfect life together with him and she’s highly susceptible to following him into anything because he’s the first person who’s ever been able to understand her and her condition
@@ciaramendez5137 it's just an interesting path that as a writer myself would be a path to be considered. He was grooming her. Having now killed someone in such a brutal fashion I might add...she didn't need to do that... she got away with it and now becomes a sort of Dexter character... She uses her program to find dodgy people and if the police don't do anything about it, she does. A third season, I'd have her wrestling with enjoying it and have her stop or be caught.
@@ciaramendez5137 also, I hope you are okay. You seem pretty intense in your response to a fictional series. Unless I'm reading it wrong. In which case I apologise and step back from the whole conversation.
the cat scene make me cry :"
top storytelling
The show is meh... if you are desperate for some crime thriller then sure watch it... the acting and cinematography was top notch. But yhe story just drags and should have been edited down. I'd give it 7/10. My better recommendations would be shows like My Name and Mask girl.... those shows are 9.5/10
there was not enough character development for the guy.
There is amazing kdrama content but not many people watch... I hope you have seen mouse or watcher
Now I have to watch it.
I wanted to watch this but that cat scene in episode one made me say NO THANK YOU!! I don’t care if it’s a CGI cat! I’m sure I can find plenty of better kdramas to watch. 🤷🏻♀️
Which is why I warned you 😉
Hey is it as intense like king of pigs? I guess we can handle a kdrama which has a female protagonist
I've not seen king of pigs but it has a lot of sexy, nudity, animal kill, serial brutal kills and more and yet it's slow as well
Thanks for replying. Love to meet you next time when you are in India
@@laid_back_ash7831 I love India...if I go, we can do a meet up in a coffee shop for sure.
Cool
Not bad, kdrama. I've enjoyed watching it .
Glad you enjoyed it
Reminds of a (foreign), Scandinavian film "The Innocents" it had a 'torture' of a cat scene. I heard - CGI, I guess! :D Of course! Uhm LOL! No spoiler(s) - but like you did here, it's 'okay' to mention a "triggering" scene! Funnily, I'd be patient with writers story arc - *if* the psycho/villain gets justice served - because of (bad) karma/possession premise - about 5 episodes is doable! :)
Seen that. Great film..dark!
3 things i got out this show, is seoul running out of cops that the one doing the investigating is wheelchair bound, the houses are so awesome, and it's a 8 hours commercial for smart phones.
I just want to say that I love the kdrama Hello Me because of Kim Young Kwang. I always wanted the two main characters to hook up but he was so respectful. Why does he have to be a serial killer now?!!! Although, I did get to admire his body… 😂🤣😂 and he really does have a great body!
Haven’t finished watching this series yet.
heartbreaking
in places, for sure.
FyY u were right about the Pepsi series
Which part is too long or entertaining? 🙂
@@TheRubyTuesday I am on the second episode. But you are correct. I wish it was only 2 or 3 episodes. They are repeating the same thing.
@@laid_back_ash7831 yip
Culture shock 😲
I watched today i don't like it.
It has a weird vibe for sure
@@TheRubyTuesday half way through and still not warming up for me. I like dark dramas btw.
How much sex & nudity are there? I want to watch this with my family 😅
I think it may be too explicit for family watching.
It's 18 age restricted that should give you an idea.
yeah i wouldn’t 😅
@@TheRubyTuesday are those sex and nudity real? Because it looks damn real. I’m confused
@@elijnr It is called acting. The nudity is real. The sex is not.
The show was not good
Yes it was.
I was enthralled by this series. The acting was top notch.
