Best tutorial on the Sculpey silk screening kit so far! No one else goes into such terrific detail, and no one else shows nearly as many nicely done finished products. I bought the kit a few months ago, but am now ready to try using it. I, too, hope Sculpey comes out with more sets of silk screens... for example, one to match every single texture sheet??? yeah, every one.
Martha, thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I think you're really going to like the kit and silk screening. I had a lot of fun using this technique.
I tagged your video on Instagram. I just completed two pendants and a ring bowl. I'm in love with the Sculpey silk screen kit. Thanks so much for sharing! 😍
Hello I have just found this fantastic tutorial! I just love it. I'm new to polymer clay and hadn't realised you could do it on pc. I will definitely be buying these. Thank you so much for sharing. I also subscribed!
Maureen Howard thanks so much for watching and subscribing. I hope you enjoy the videos. Polymer clay is so versatile, you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of this medium.
+Denise Johnson Denise, you're going to love the kit and how well the silk screening turns out. Would love to see pictures of your projects. :) Thanks for watching and commenting.
I've used the screens several times. They are easy to clean, if you get to them right away. I have found that using a brush to apply the paint gives me more satisfactory coverage than the squeegee method, but I have been using one pattern at a time, not the full sheet. The photo book for the sheet storage is super. I've been putting my sheets back in the original sleeve, but I'm definitely going to look for a photo book on the clearance racks.
Thanks so much for watching. I love silk screening and, yes, there are different ways to apply the paint. I like the squeegee but have used the brush and also a cosmetic sponge works great. Whatever works best for you is the way to go! The photo book really keeps my screens from getting mangled. Thanks again for watching.
Great video, clear instructions. I wonder if you can use other paints besides what's included in the kit? That would take this craft to another level, I imagine.
SweetWillowDesigns I'm looking forward to trying this. I just ordered the kit, the clay machine and some of that bonding stuff (I forget the name). I've been wanting the clay machine for a while...so I treated myself...it is after all Christmas. LOL!
Cyn, thanks so much for watching. I hope you try silk screening on polymer clay. I was surprised at how easy it was for such great results. Thanks again for watchin.
Angelique Sanborn Hi Angelique. Thanks for watching the video. I use Golden artist grade paints. Liquitex artist grade would also work well. While these cost a bit more you don't have to use a lot to get great coverage. Let me know if you try these and how they work for you.
Hi Theresa. Try the big box craft stores like Michaels or Joann, they may have some of the larger size. I have some of the 4X6 also and tried the Sculpey silk screens and they fit. Not a lot of room left over but you could try one and see if it fits. The Dollar Stores are hit and miss I notice. Thanks for watching!! Glad you enjoyed the video.
May I know what is the difference between stencils and silk screen? I am new to polymer clay ,I have stumbled upon ur channel today and I have subscribed..thank you in advance for your answer..
Thank you! So glad you found my channel. I hope you enjoy the videos. A stencils has a design with openings that you can use to paint over to transfer a design to a surface. A silkscreen is the same general purpose as a stencil, however, the silkscreen is made from a fine mesh that the paint or ink is passed through. Hope that helps.
Bonnie Baeker Hi Bonnie, you could cut a large circle and make a ring dish, use it for a journal cover, in a mosaic, in the video I used a cutter to make a small pendant from the center and use the leftover to embellish a picture frame by cutting the center a bit larger. Let me know how you make out.
Hi Zuerita. You can use acrylic paints. I have used tube acrylics or craft paint. Just smooth it on the same say as the Sculpey paint. Be sure to get the silk screen in water right after to keep it from drying on the screen. I would also test out your paint by baking a sample to make sure the paint stands up to the temperature. Hope that helps.
I haven't tried it but I would think not. The alcohol ink is very thin and would leak under the screen I believe. You may try it, if you use a sponge type dauber you might be able to control the ink better and use it more as a stencil. Let me know how any experiments go. Thanks for watching.
+WhackWackenhut The eye pins for the earrings? If so, the earrings are two layers, the eye pin in sandwiched between the two layers and cured with the eye pin in. Let me know if this answers your question.

Great video, clear instructions. I wonder if you can use other paints besides what's included in the kit? That would take this craft to another level, I imagine.

Thank you. Very pretty.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video. Do you have any suggestions on what paint to use when the provided ones are gone? Mine are almost empty!
Angelique Sanborn Hi Angelique. Thanks for watching the video. I use Golden artist grade paints. Liquitex artist grade would also work well. While these cost a bit more you don't have to use a lot to get great coverage. Let me know if you try these and how they work for you.

Thanks Bev, glad you enjoyed the tutorial.
Very nice and clear instruction. Could you do a tutorial on how to use Kato or Fimo liquid clay as a varnish using a heat gun? Than so Much! 😉👍😊
Hi Ruth. I'm glad you enjoyed this tutorial. I'll put the liquid clay project on my list. Thanks so much for watching.
Nice video. Anxious to try it. When I can I want to get your e book on silk screening and the screen from Romania( I think that it) thanks
the only size photo album I can find is 4x6, any other ideas? Ive been to all my local dollar stores and Walmart. Love your demonstration by the way.

Veryyyy beautiful mam....👌👌👌

Just wondering. I can't seem to find the Sculpey metallic paint in South Africa. Can I use liquid clay? or can you recommend any other paint?
Hi..just wondering if u have ever found little bits coming off your silk screens onto the clay...i have.. going to try to glue them back on..
What paints did you use
Hi. Any substitute for the screen sheet pls? Like DIY stuffs. Thanks.
joli travail...bon courage..
Thank you.
Could I seal these with something like minwax or would the paint rub off over time?
What do you use the large screen print for? could you give us a few ideas?
A few ideas - use it to cover a light switch, use on a decorative tile, cut out pieces for jewelry, use in a mosaic, etc.
Thank for info.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
Hello . Can we use alcohol ink with silk screening ?

Should I use translucent clay over my silkscreen
Hi. I don't add translucent but I do add a varnish to the finished piece to protect the paint. I use Varathane water-based varnish.
when and how did you add the pins...
+WhackWackenhut The eye pins for the earrings? If so, the earrings are two layers, the eye pin in sandwiched between the two layers and cured with the eye pin in. Let me know if this answers your question.
thank you,
The silk screens fell apart after using twice. They are not as good as others I bought:(
