Cant believe someone would send in there boots for a rebuild looking like this
Agreed, I would have cleaned my boots before mailing them in.
That’s what happens when you work in a work boot
@@elibrown9442But its really disrespectful to send them in like this. At least tap them together a bunch of times to get the caked on dirt off.
Some people actually work slick
@@colewilson7733some people also have access to water.
No final product shots? Wouldve been nice to see the before and after.
*Yea I thought that was really strange. This was a really cool video too. Bummer.*
*Seems like some people don't reallt care at all about cleaning their boots lol 😅🤣🤣! Cleaning extends the life of the boots. I would definitely clean my boots before mailing them in to Nicks. Its just a nice gesture for them. Because if you don't, there is a fee. Cleaning them make it easier for the staff to work on. It makes it easier to get through their queue of boots, for other people who are waiting for their boots to be repaired.*
*In case people are wondering, the cost for rebuilds cost much less than buying a new pair of boots. The info is on their site. It's nice they have the rebuild price dialed back. It makes it worth it, especially when boots have sentimental value to them. That way you can get more milage out of your boots, instead of being wasteful by throwing them away. It depends on the condition though for sure. Cleaning and conditioning them does go a long way in helping the boots last longer.*
I keep wondering: in case of a full rebuild, only the upper is re-used. Why go through the trouble of separating the full sole system? The upper would be attached to the sole system in only two quite narrow places per boot, right? If you would start with the razor cutting the stitches of the upper, and leave the entire vamp and counter attached to the sole layers, would it be possible to recover the upper?
Yeah could've saved half the time taking it apart
OMG I hope there a charged for cleaning the shaft !! I would hand the guy a brush and show him how to care for the boots and if took care of the leather he would only need a resole
Those boots were neglected....Nice to see a resurrection.
Is there enough of a cost savings to justify doing the rebuild as opposed to buying a new pair on a rebuild like this, when the only part that is being re-used is the shaft and tongue portion?
Yeah, it’s like 100$ cheaper which you can save up for the next pair.
@@sacredsam6046it's more than that, those are like $800 boots (typical rebuilds are only ~$100)
The shaft of the boot is the toughest part to break in. At least for me anyway I'm sure it's different for others.
Need some James Brown “Living in America “ and Lee Greenwood “God bless the USA”
Whomever sent their boots in like that is a bum. Have some respect for the fine people at Nicks and clean your damn boots, sheesh.
yeah could have hosed them down and knocked the mud off atleast
maybe nicks requested them not to be cleaned. Makes for a better end result in comparison.
@@jackemarleeyoung This is probably what happened. I would feel so bad sending my boots in that condition even if I was asked to lmfao
I wonder if Nicks do boot rebuilds for sewer sanitation workers?
Looks like it with these boots
what motor (HP) does the sewing machine on 08:00 have?
Bro couldn’t even spray them off with a hose first? The audacity
For some reason it reminds me of having dental work done. Just working deep in the jaw and root.
Day 3 of asking for ultimate boot models guide
I didnt think the mckay stitch was still being done at Nicks.
Old video? Masks. Nick is bottoming the boots. Man fur arms and sweet western shirt.
gotta be old, hate to think someone is still doing the MASK thing.
eh to be fair, even with the extractors on the sanding machines, there is a lost of dust from them that always escapes, and with allergies going around, sometimes ya gotta use a mask to not flare up more. Source: I am a cobbler @@lgroves336
For context this build footage is from over two years ago
I love your boots and your videos but I'm truly astonished at the low level of production value on this particular video. I really can't see what's going on from 3:42 > 5:04. The lighting is horrific! This so very easily remedied by a light source of some kind focused towards the subject. You're a brand name million dollar company! Come On! Go get one of your kids who posts on Tik Tok and even they understand basic lighting! This is beneath you. I want to see every nook and cranny of the boot! What you're doing to this boot is nothing short of miraculous don't let the bad lighting ruin our experience. Please. I work in the business and it makes a difference. The thing is that most people don't even realize it. Good lighting is like walking into a well lit room as oppose to a dimly lit room; it affects your mood and influences how you feel about the product. It's simple photography 101, you don't shoot your subject with a bright light source behind them. Please put an actual light on your camera and stop this madness. Look at Rose Anvil's videos!! Please don't tell me you can't make videos as good as his. Pick it up NICKS. Please.
Hey there,
The lighting is something we have corrected over the years (This footage is around 3 years old) but your feedback is very important to us and we will be taking this into consideration for future videos.
@@nicksboots *Since the footage is 3 years old, it would be wise to let people know that in the video description, and in the pinned comment. That way when people are inquiring about the boots in the video, they'll have better context. And also it'll let people know if certain boots are still around anymore or not. Because if you don't add that bit of information, many will think this footage is fairly new. I thought it was new 😅! So it helps me a lot knowing it's 3 year old footage.*
I have Nick's boots. The build quality is amazing, the fit however is not. They sent me 10.5 as a try on pair but yet when they sent the final boot they were size 11... After telling them they fit perfectly.
First comment!!!!! Hi mom!!!!!
I liked the videos you did about Nicks boots, really helpful. Sad they’re so hard to get over here.
@@christophbecker1639what country do you live in?
@@evergreenorganics Germany. Problem is with shipping and import taxes you‘d be close to 1000€. And you can’t send them back as easily when they don’t fit.
@@christophbecker1639 ouch that’s tough.
Just kupchak first child first no child because they see just 🥰🥰✌
What the HECK!!!???? Then you don't even show us a finished product!!!??? What's going on here NICKS?????
I'm glad your people stopped putting nails in their mouths. It was ugly and unsafe. Now the process looks much better
and really bad for the person heath and teeth REALLY BAD
wait till you see what happens on a construction site
Who in their right mind would hold nails with their teeth? You hold them in your lips. It's just steel and a little rust preventing oil. It's fine. Adds a little iron to your system. If they want to do and it makes them more efficient let them.
This is exactly how Eddie Van Halen got cancer (metal pick held in lips/mouth) so I wouldn't exactly call it safe.
