I think they may be moving towards that offset heel counter to avoid hot spots in that area during break in.

In the video, that leather looks quite a bit like your double stuffed. Is that true in real life as well? Does the difference in tanning make it noticeably more abbrasion resistant?

That 1/64 “ difference in leather thickness makes a breaking the boots in a lot quicker.
