Yep, R+ only can ge good for the right dogs. But many positive only or "FORCE FREE" dog trainers seem to be upset by that. Positive only itself does not only. Mean treats. It can also mean P+ (positive punishment, which is adding something. Example: a leash pop, spacial pressure, a correction.)
I'm proud of my Erick (i swear i didn't know you before putting the name to the dog) he doesn't lunges to another dogs wen we go to walk. I guess should be proud of myself too 😊
Can you show a helpful tip for having your dog not react when you’re on a bench and letting dogs walk by. Our Maple “ 15 month female German Shepherd” is great on walks and will ignore other dogs and will say hi on permission. We want her to ignore dogs that instigate her to get up from a down. We can see the difference with dogs that have manners and others that don’t. She’s great with those that have manners just get provoked on those who don’t. Probably because it is close vicinity but still. A bit challenging but we hope you can help with that. So we basically hangout people watching from time to time in a dog friendly downtown with shops. She loves people and little people and other dogs. Just gets protective with those dogs that act a little crazy towards her resting with us. I hope that makes sense. How can we get her to be non reactive essentially to other dogs with bad manners? @ericandcaprithepup
Why are you going to someones house in the middle of nowhere day and night to aggravate those strangers dogs. Trained or not they dont want you or your dog on their turf.
Well... Because, why not? Using what the environment gives you to teach, it is something we see every day when we walk with our dogs, right? And they🐶 need to deal with it, we must teach them how. And during the day it's hot... The paws burn
Aggravate? Their house? He's not on their property. His focus is the dog he's training...and those other dogs could definitely use some training as well.
“You’re embarrassing me” is so real
Sometimes you just have to talk to them man to man😂
I feel like you're one of the few trainers that understands not all dogs are passive and respond well to treat training.
Well there are a lot of positive only trainers who believe positive means treat only, so that is something i've been ranting about recently
