- We're keeping those Kermie Cam's coming! Here's another frequently requested plane we know you're going to want to see . . . the Curtiss TP-40N. Part 1 Kermit gives some history on the plane before going into a pre-flight tour, explaining all the systems as he checks out the plane. Part 2 you're in the cockpit and get a feel for being in the pilot's seat getting ready to fly. In part 3 you take to the skies for some fast passes and maneuvers. Hope you enjoy the ride.

As a pilot myself, commercial ticket, @ 5000 pic time I would give my left....to be able to put an entry in my logbook showing that I logged time in a P-40! Kermit is the luckiest pilot alive!
I've been to Fantasy of Flight numerous times, whenever I'm on FLA if I can swing it. It's an amazing place.
We have to remember, spotty wet behind the ears 18 yr old kids flew these acraft in WW2, and they grew up overnight, hats off to those men

13:55 in, on the roll out, the big V-12 snuffling and snorting and gurgling and popping as the aircraft slows, then the sound as the power is brought in to taxi, THAT IS PURE MAGIC!

The p40 and p51 are my favorite planes of all time. My favorite thing about your planes is that you leave the gunsights on them. So many warbird owners take them off and it looks so much better with it. Keep up the videos
Indeed, who is anybody kidding? These machines are designed for war, and it's an important part of the cockpit. I guess they are removed for visibility purposes.
After the N-1 the N didn't have the cross-hair gun sight, only the bead part.
ChrisWhite85 tell that to the people that modify these war birds to race at Reno....they're not made for that!just my two cents..
Modified, indeed. Sometimes beyond recognition of the original aircraft. Times have changed, but they are flying museums. There's no shame in their original design

This is my number one dream flight!! I've been a private pilot since 1984. Years ago I corresponded with some of the 99s that flew everything back in the day. I can't remember exactly, but many of these brave women perished serving their country in time of war to free men up to fly combat missions. Their missions were no less dangerous. On many of their flights, they were basically test pilots flying planes right off the assembly line. To the best of my research, no woman pilot every crashed in a P-40.
I finally get to see and hear the inside of a functioning P-40 . My dad described some of the 2 man maneuvers he flew in the 1st Pursuit Squadron at Kunming and Rangoon in the P-40B . I was very glad to see his buddies names on the second seat - don't lose those! Thank you for keeping that 1935 design alive for grandchildren to see and experience.

these are the most informative videos...I end up feeling like we would have won the War in 42 and saved thousands of pilots lives if Kermie had been around then...I really love it when he points out things like manifold press., oil temp., trim settings, prop position, etc., ...I feel like I am the Pilot...God Bless KW and I am very much looking forward to Hugh's S43 and the A 26...
My grandpa Dave was a fighter pilot instructor during WWII. He flew the P-40's , the P-51 mustang Wich was his favorite plane , and the B 25.

I really, really enjoy your videos and hope one day to make it to your museum. I was born at the out break of WWII and as a small boy sat around the radio with my older brother listening to the latest news about the war and the radio dramas that were put out about flying. I remember Sky King before the series ever made the TV. As I got older I memorized all the old fighters and bombers. My brother and I could tell what was flying over the house by the sound of the engines and would make a game out of it to see who could guess the type of aircraft that just flew over.
As a young man I got into aviation myself as a mechanic in the Air Force and afterwards in general aviation where I worked for over 30 yrs before retiring. I was never able to realize my dream of flying but as a kid and teenager my interests weren't in hot rods but aircraft. I still go over to a small airport here in near by where someone has a few old war birds that they fly over the house every now and then. Even a Hell Diver. Sometimes I just go over in the evening and watch the goings and comings of cessnas and pipers shooting touch and gos.
Your videos help me realize my dream of flying one of the old WWII birds. It's like sitting in the cockpit behind you and I really like the way you do the walk around and explain the cockpit before getting airborne or telling a little history of whatever it is you're going to fly that day. There's so much history in those old machines that I fear is being lost to the newer generation. Thanks again and I hope you keep the program going. It think you do a lot for aviation. It's part of our history and these old war birds don't deserve to just sit idle and rust away or wind up in a wrecking yard being sold for aluminum scrap.

I love the Kermie cam, each one allows each of us to become more knowledgeable about flying. I'm an old pilot, not currently certified, but still, love all things about flying. From the walk around to cockpit forms and procedures, I always learn something new. The engine sounds, on take off were super, rudder pedal keeping it down the center, smooth lift off. What a thrill to watch the nose high rolls and steep turns. Well done. I always look forward to new posts. Bravo Zulu

With the old warbirds much of the fundamentals are close to the same. It's only a matter of remembering the quirks between different aircraft.
Outstanding! Kermie Cams are some of my favorite videos on UA-cam. As someone who plays flight sims, I often wonder about the ergonomic realities of these warbirds. You can see that sometimes you've gotta be quite busy in that cockpit! Thanks for these videos. Looking forward to the next one.

I always had a soft spot for the P-39 and the P-40. It's quite obvious they are a systems bird, definite DO's& DON'T's. they'll keep you busy.

Kermit is so relaxed and cool about flying that I am thinking about learning how to fly. My father was in the 8th Fighter Bomber Wing in the Korean War and he recently passed away. He was a big fan of Warbirds and had almost every book about them along with many magazines . Recently I have read many and even bought some old pictures and a print called "Ramrod" by John D Shaw. The print is very impressive and features Col Bud Anderson flying "Old Crow" it also signed by many P51 WW2 pilots . These pilots along with ALL others both at war and at home in the factories proved they truly were the Greatest Generation !

I'm building a model of the P-40 Kittyhawk and i wonder what the stick looking like a second control stick on the right cockpit side is good for. Now i know, thanks Mr. Weeks. 👍🍻
Once again a great detailed presentation of a very unique aircraft. I noticed the light and good ailerons, but on the other hand with 270 mph IAS in a shallow dive, it's not the fastest. The unique way of actuating the flaps and gears is very interesting and quite neat, one can prepare and then actuate when needed. The engine seems to have cutouts even after warming up, why is that, the carburetor perhaps, or ignition ?
