I remember hearing this back in 2011. I found it while I was candy flipping (on advice a friend gave me because I was severely depressed) I was browsing UA-cam and randomly found an upload and this was the track. I was blown away by it and it put me into a state of mind of sheer bliss. Even though it wasn’t exactly a song to help with my girl problems, I was just happy to watch “her move” and made me realize it wasn’t meant to be even if I tried to boast her love for me that wasn’t there. Love you Kevin Parker and will always be a fan. It’s like being a proud dad. Went from having 15k views total in YEARS to over a million in a week❤️🥺

The first time I listened to this album was when I took LSD for the first time, needless to say it was a beautiful life changing experience. This album hold’s many special memories for me.

I have a lot of memories with this song dating back to 2012. Innerspeaker will always be my favorite. It Is Not Meant to Be is the classic of the classic Tame Impala songs. All of the music is fantastic, but nothing beats how perfect this song is from beginning to end. Nothing has changed about my experience with this song since my first listen in 2012 and I'm still obsessed!
With music like this even the wildest impala can be tamed
This song many years ago was a comfort to me. Still is, ironically... It's like lowballing or saying how things can seem hopeless, which can be motivating if the feeling had gone unchecked or named.

this is what makes good songwriting the line "I don't have a hope in hell" can relate to so many things in life and the fact that he's referring to a girl in the song and thats the way he's trying to use it but you can interpret it any way you want is why I will forever love this man

How is Kevin parker so good, he's like the iron man of music, a one man army, a psychedelic Jesus here as the second coming to save us with groove, if you ever get the chance to see him live take it, cant wait for him to release a new album, I need more music like it, I did just find a cool tune that kind of reminded me of tame impala, lonely gimmick - grumpy days, I like the guys other stuff as well, its like tame impala but more funky with some Hendrix guitar, worth a listen
The tame impala I accidentally stumbled upon on UA-cam years ago. It was love at first sight.

This is one of my all-time favourites from Tame Impala, I love so much how they sounded here and in Lonerism. This was real psychedelic rock. Now they're electro pop :/
What sounds would you say differentiate this and lonerism from electropop?

Currents is kind of synth pop yeah, but The Slow Rush is a mix of both psychedelic pop from Lonerism and the synth pop from Currents so it’s great

Lot of subtle drumming which I love as much as everything else
I first heard this song when I met my now ex girlfriend, she played it on one of our first car rides together, it didn’t really have any meaning to me at the time, just a strange sounding song that I’d never heard, but now that it’s over this song makes sense, it was almost like it predicted the future of us, and it brings back a strange nostalgia of the past when things were different.
