- In this episode, we take our campervan to Winchelsea, Victoria, where we free camp in town by the town creek/river. Winchelsea is located on the Barwon River 115 km south-west of Melbourne and close to Geelong (37 km north-east).
We learned that the spot is popular traveling on the Spirit of Tasmania, as it’s only 20 minutes from Geelong with toilets available nearby.
We show you the sights around town, cook up a chicken paella, and take in the scenery around us.
We enjoy part-time van life (and now also camping with our Jimny), creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) on Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks for making life on the road easier and more fun. Come join us on our adventures! the Birds are loud till the sun goes down and bloody noisy at dawn
Good episode guys. During the episode you mentioned at night you use the blue lights with the assumption it does not attract mosquitoes and insects. Unfortunately it’s blue light and UV light that does attract the insects. That’s why you always see that colour in a bug zapper. 29:48 yellow is the colour spectrum they do not see and are not attracted to.
Yes our friends Lauren Rob have the yellow lights on their van for that reason. But I have to admit when we have the blue light on, it does not attract bugs nowhere near as much as the white light does. Well, that’s in our experience. It might be just the fact that it’s a more dull light. Definitely a fantastic trip and I know you can buy the yellow tape that you can put over existing lights, Adam has some over his torch on his phone. That works great when he takes Tyler out night for a toilet run. Thanks for checking out episode really appreciate it. Deano

Definitely a busy little camping site, including all those birds! Did my own little Victoria adventure this week past, out to Kerang. Took about an 1 hour 20 minutes from Melbourne each way but your van would take way longer. Nice little town with some great cafes/bakeries if you wanted ideas to explore.

Another great episode. Good camping ground and even at the pub. Tasmanian must have come in and campers for the next day. It sure was loud with the white birds, cookatoos? It was like a Aussie horror movie. Maybe get a cap gun. Your dinner looked really nice and tasty. We have to try it out. Some wine or Tequila mixed with water would be ok. Does your friends the Quakko's have a channel?

Hi guys great episode I’m loving catching up with these, I just watched your Ned Kelly tour absolutely fascinating and it’s totally given me the camping bug to go up that way. I have to wait to get my tyres done this week but then me and my son will be off! Hey Kevin, we are not in Tasmania This episode is showing you where you can camp for free before getting onto the boat. You should check it out and I cook up a really nice one pot meal. Next Sunday at 5 pm, we are heading out in our Jimny we have hired a tiny home. But we will definitely be going out camping in our tent and taken the Jimney away soon. Hope you’re having a good week.
