For those of you wondering of the speech as seen in "A Beautiful Mind"- there are no speeches of the laureates during the prize ceremony. The laureate's speeches are held during the dinner party in the evening. During the prize ceremony there are only speeches from representatives of the different Nobel committees, as seen in this video.
@@juliansandoval8022 Music has always been a part of the prize ceremony, but only classical music and then sometimes with song (but not with Jamiroquai ..., it's classical singers/opera singers). During the dinner in the evening there's also music and of various kinds, even modern like pop/ easy listening/jazz kind of music. I don't know if Jamiroquai has performed there but there's definitively a possibility that he could I can't see why though, because they often have performers with connection to Sweden, the laureates' countries or a certain theme of sort. But still .. yeah, possible. After the dinner there's dancing in the golden hall (gyllene salen) with live dance music of various kind. IIRC they do have Nobel music concert(s) in Stockholm on some of the days before or after december 10, when the prize ceremony is held, but that concert is not on that ceremony day. Types of music/artists? I don't know.
we're currently learning game theory and the nash equilibrium at university. to be honest, i've spent more time researching John Nash than his actual theory. i've seen 'A Beautiful Mind' before but watched it again today with it in context. great man.
hahaha, i've just finished my exams for the second semester of the year. definitely passed MicroEconomics though. the nash eqb. was in the exam haha :)
I just watched the movie 'a beautiful mind' and came here in search of Sir John Nash. Hats off to Alicia for her love towards John and I feel sad that both of them are not alive by this time.
Yesterday I have defended my master's thesis on topic of quantum game theory. I used Nash equilibria and it makes me feel closer to his work. I was so inspired by movie "A beautiful mind" when I was a high school student, and now I am glad that I was able to combine game theory with another extremely interesting field of science - quantum mechanics.
I am very brilliant with maths yet i am now focusing on law and after watching a beautiful mind made me realise that being a lawyer is actually a lesser dream in all my dreams.
I watched the movie which name is"A beautiful mind".And,My heart was very, very, moved.I'm Japanese high school student. But,I'm able to understand this movie.I wanna talk with John nash.
dear john I write you in, hoping to reach johnny your son. I pray for him most of all. Johnny my prayers are with you! It's your time to shine johnny, seek and yee shall find, believe and it shall be so. RIP John Jr Nash, and Alicia Nash, I wish we could have finished what we started!
for someone who had problems with self esteem, randomly watching a film aka movie about this great man, has helped me believe, just do it, learn higher level maths, which i really enjoy, nothing is hard, it just takes small incremental steps, Mr Nash was a great guy,he looked so humble taking the prize, that just made me think, the film aka movie, was likely not far wrong from his portrayal of a quite and understated character he was, yet a genius, the world is less without him,
12 - 11 years ago, I almost slipped. Noone knew what I battled because noone around me understood it. Part of the effects was the delusion that my eyesight was defective, I lived with that for almost 2 years, no treatment could be prescribed because my supposed problem could not be diagnosed as it was nonexistent; I would ace all visual acuity tests, but when it was time to study, letters and numbers would seem to float around. The more I read and learned about eye defects, the narrower I was able to class my fantom issue, finally I settled with astigmatism. I had no astimatism! However, I believed enough that I had it, and then I would go on to experience the symptoms as I had anticipated it! The brain is a delicate and sophisticated organ capable of many things, it can create an imaginary world and lock you (the architect) inside. I was lucky to have met one psychiatrist. She said the magical words that eventually set me free: "it is all in your MIND" I had to fight my mind inorder to disbelieve 2 years of accumulated beliefs. I fought and won. Guard your thoughts. Rest in peace Professor John Nash.
It's really sad to know that he has gone forever off of this world. He will always be one of my greatest inspiration to studying Math. Thank you, Professor Nash! Oh, you and Alicia have shown us that true love does exist. Peace be with you both! :)
So much respect for him. Schizophrenia and mental illness is NO joke and he proved that recovery is possible, This was in an era long before many psychotropic meds as well.
RIP, just watched the beautiful mind upon hearing their pass... Nash equilibrium, I still remembered the first time I read this very idea from a game theory book. It's such a simple idea at first glance. Anyone's just responding according to self interests and there goes the equilibrium. However, the more applications I read, the more respect I had for his theory. A simple idea that could expand from/to different dimensions. Sometimes you can expect the result yet sometimes your eyes would pop out for the counter-intuitive conclusions.
He won the Nobel Prize in Economics, the Nobel Prize and the von Neumann Prize (in honor of his teacher) all three deservedly, even if they were late and miraculously. Those of us who have lived with schizophrenia for decades know what hell it is. Greetings from Spain.
One of the greatest men who ever lived, not only because of his theories but because of the way he fulfilled them despite his condition which he overcame. Wow. RIP Mr. Nash.
I’ve held one of those medals, won by a deserving recipient, and admired its meaning and honor. It would be a cool event in anyones life. Alas I’m not smart enough!
I never went for the blonde. Two brunettes later and I find myself alone after raising 4 loving and respectful children by myself for over 10 years. I’m finally at peace . Thank you John Nash. 🙏🏼
He is also a genius but i came for John Harsanyi instead, he survived the holocaust and had it difficult to get there at the top. All three has are amazing.
I thought the speech was going to appear exactly like in the movie. But whatever, that wasn't the case. What brings me here is I just would like to say, I truly respect you, professor! God loves you!

@otgiggs
Thank you!
I was confused about this before I read your comment.
You read my mind. Thank you for the explanation
now the nobel prize ceremony includes music concert. I guess it has lost a lot of its credibility and has to get some from artists like Jamiroquai
