I love this: "If you think too much about your exact pace or your exact speed, it's an outcome. It's not the process." This is a great quote to remember. I think sometimes it's easy to forget the process, and only focus on hitting your splits in workouts. As runners, it's important to remember that the process of doing hard workouts is what gets us to the finish line quickly, not just hitting our magic numbers in those workouts. Great video, guys!
That was pretty nice. I loved your tips. I've been doing 1 k intervals, 1,5 k intervals and tempo runs. It is working a lot for me and I am feeling excelent results.
Hey guys, thoroughly enjoy your videos. I am 52 here in southern New Jersey. Hated running when I was a kid but started into it a year and half ago. Have a friend who runs in the 20 min 5K range at 53. I am in the 27 range and set my own PR goals each time I run. Broke 17 in a 2 miler this weekend, and did 26:55 last weeken 5k. My PR is 26:42 For me these are monumental, and that is what its about....ME... I dont think I will ever get to 20, but have set a 25 min goal to reach next. Gonna keep watching, and hope between some of your workouts and some other crossfit stuff I find, I will get there. Thanks Again, Cheers! ... Keith Conner
Great attitude, Keith! The best thing we can do is focus on ourselves and our own goals, and support and be inspired by those who are faster than us- because someone always is!
Really the same things apply 100%.... in our other 5k video one of the key workouts is HILLS! So yes, maybe you do more hill work than speed work. Also remember this... what goes up, must come down....so be ready to run FAST downhill!
@@metatronblack lol If your going from softer to hard sch as grass/treadmill/trails to asphalt/concrete then cut back on the distance and rebuild slowly. Make sure you stretch everyday and keep your cadence high. If your form starts getting rough towards the end then your BS-ing yourself and should slow down.
I have been running for about two months and I want to train for a 5k. A question I have is how do u keep track of time and distance?? When I train I see time of every lap, but in 5k do u have a phone on your hand? A smart watch?
During a race, you could use a smart watch, track your run on your phone with an app like Strava or Map My Run, or just run by feel! There will most likely be mile markers so you can have a sense of where you're at.

that's on point! Lots can influence the pace on a day... but not a lot can influence whether you do your workout or not.

Great tips. Your channel has me inspired to start running again. I’ve had two years off and boy have I missed it.
Awesome, Simon!

Awesome tips !!
Have a question don’t know if you have a video on this
What about running a 5k but with lots of hills ! Training for this ?

Thankyou your videos help me alot .
Someone get their grandpa...
I was curious what this comment meant until I saw the old dude walk in - then I died a little laughing
ASAP 😂
Is it necessary to take gap days between training? How many times a week should i be running?
Just hear your body, bruh. If you're feeling exhausted, just rest a while
Yes, very important to take a day or two between proper runs to let your muscles recover. Two or three times a week is good.
Depends on what your goals are.
Depends on the training you are doing, you could have an easy run day shorter distance and the next something more intense. Listen to you’re body
Just the video I needed,
30 sec x6 hill blast
400 x6 followed by 20 30 min easy run
Ya probably answered this question but is it safe to run on asphalt ? Because I do small HITT workouts on grass
@@hi5_centipedes874 thank you 👍
