    I don't understand how difficult to them to do the realtime monitoring, this definitely could be the best on the go device if they had it

    The $19 from Sweetwater device does not light up from batteries - only USB. It also does NOTHING. Audio in, no audio out. Very reliable 0db output. I did not get a USB-C adapter either.

    Can anyone tell me what freaking software I can download on my Android phone to use with this thing? TC Helicon says, "Included app suite with Go Record, Go Studio FX, and Guitar Rack" but the only one that appears on the Play Store is the Go Record, and it has awful reviews.

  • @cmd_f5

    I saw this and was gonna get the Twin, but then I was like, well I don't really need the extra input. This will be for super portable mobile recording. I can deal (mostly) with no mic monitoring. Of course in a DAW on pc or Mac I can just arm/monitor the track, but it's not the same.
    Still, this little Go Solo is cool! Surprisingly quiet preamp, powers my phantoms and dynamics just fine. You do have to crank the input for a dynamic but that's expected on something like this.
    Overall I'm pretty stoked with it. Gonna use it for fast guitar recording and mobile voice stuff.
    Have a good one

      I think what you are using it for is the perfect use case for it. And you are right... It is PLENTY capable outside of direct monitoring.

  • @sampletheworld-music
    @sampletheworld-music Рік тому

    I disagree with your assessment on monitoring. I use one connected to both an iPhone (ligthening) or an iPad (usb-c) with my vDrums into the input and play drums (listening through headphones connected to the solo). If it wasn't latency-free, this would not work for me. It DOES work! Maybe you got a bad unit, or maybe it's just low enough latency that I don't notice it, but it honestly sounds like I'm monitoring direct to me.

    • @ObscureMics
      @ObscureMics  Рік тому

      Interesting. I have 2 of these and neither provides direct monitoring.... But I also do not use apple products. So maybe there's something to that. You are the 1st person who's said it provides direct monitoring

    • @sampletheworld-music
      @sampletheworld-music Рік тому

      @@ObscureMics I run Koala Sampler and sample my vDrums into it while playing to a backing track. Latency would definitely throw my timing off if this didn't work. Actually now that I think of it I have to enable monitoring in Koala to hear the input so that leads me to think I'm probably not monitoring direct, but the latency is clearly low enough to not be a problem for me.

    • @sampletheworld-music
      @sampletheworld-music Рік тому

      @@ObscureMics yeah maybe apple handles it better. Also using fairly modern devices (iPhone 11, iPad Pro 2021).

      Only apple products such as iPhone and iPod provide in-ear monitoring, android smartphone or tablet don't have the zero latency monitoring. There are many other China made interfaces that provide self monitor for Android devices.
