- One of the largest model railroad layouts of Switzerland in O scale was built by the Swiss association of model railroad friends in Baar. The Gotthard Railway Line and the Furka-Oberalp-Express Railway Line were rebuilt on this model railway layout. When Pilentum visited this layout he installed a camera inside the locomotive for making cab passenger rides. There are the famous and most beautiful locomotives of the Swiss Federal Railways.

They seem to have a heck of a lot of Catenary installs left to do, but an exquisite layout!
This is amazing and nice details, only thing is when making a film, hows about a kind of establishment shot, like a grand overview of the whole model, then go closer into detail. It feels like I'm looking at this through a key hole.

Fantastic nice layout scala 0 is so nice. But I would have liked overhead wires to have been drawn when masts have now been installed for the same. It looks a bit tame that there are so many driving masts unused.

Wunderschöne Anlage, auch die Gleisführung auch die umliegende Natur, wirklich schön. Schade nur, dass man auf die Oberleitung verzichtet hat, die runter gezogenen Pantografen stören etwas. Wunderschön sind die Führerstandmitfahrten.

Beautifull Swiss, German and Austria trains + layout, my Marklin layout scale is HO but this layout scale is very nice, also the original Swiss Signals! When will you start with the overhead wire? Greetings from Holland!

Wonderful layout, but why no functional electrification?
Il est toujours difficile de rendre la vitesse à la bonne échelle (départs, arrêts) mais là on s'approche de la perfection.
Mais pourquoi ne pas avoir mis les fils aux caténaires ?
Et les motrices électriques qui circulent pantographes baissés !
Et "vieillir" aussi un peu le matériel qui rutile trop...
En tout cas très belle réalisation.
Merci pour votre commentaire! Lorsque j'ai visité ce réseau ferroviaire, des caténaires étaient en construction. Au sujet du vieillissement: De nombreux propriétaires de locomotives n'osent pas changer de couleur ni d'aspect. Ils craignent une perte de valeur.

Is the model railway still at Interlaken, accessed I think via a funicular? I visited in the late 1950's early 60's 7 again in the 70's.

I love this O gauge layout, fantastic job....just one comment, all these overhead electrical towers for the electric locomotives and the locomotives are running around with their pantagraphs down.... Looked stupid. I agree with not putting in the overhead cable as every layout with them looks out of scale....but rig the pantagraphs so they look like there bring used.
Some of the signals didn't work either.
Looking in 2024.. I find it weird that the infrastructure is there but no overhead cables are fitted, and the pantographs on the trains are not up.. Otherwise nice layout..

A quick question. The locos all seems to have their pantograph lowered (though the line is electrified). Was it done for a special reason? Because it looks a bit odd to see electric locos pulling the trains, but not using the pantographs to get the power.
having a lay out fully wired would be the most desirable from a visual perspective but the trouble to do it and the difficulties maintaining your track and so on , is it worth it? what has been done here i think it is ideal. the overhead posts and stanchions are in place and the imagination can easily fill in the missing contact and support wires , i think you have done it right....marty

Great and neat layout but... PLEASE weather the locos and wagons. That fresh plastic or metal shine is very unsightly on gorgeous scenery and track such as this.

Beautiful layout, gorgeous landscape and nice details! One thing, though: please get rid of the german locos, passenger cars and railbusses. In real life, we Swiss increasingly let german DB and french SNCF use our rail network, what a shame. Swiss locos on Swiss rails!!!

An entire attic is used for the railway. I estimate: 15 meters long, 8 meters wide.
