Yes the AI doesn't do well with ships that need tactical approach and maneuvreing. It does ok with big, clunky ships with a lot of all-around firepower.
This is really a great battle. No fancy ships with super weapons. Just two older ships testing strengths: Miranda has more firepower, the Galor (Type 1 to be clear) more survivable. This battle would definitely hinge on the quality of the captains.
Very evenly matched. Nice. Of course, AI does a crap job with both (especially the Miranda and it's quick-reload torpedoes). AI vs. AI would've been a very even match I think. But yes, these two are basically polar-opposites. Miranda is agile, quick, and has a lot more firepower, but the hull is paper-thin and the subsystems are vulnerable. Basically once the shields weaken, she's dead. Galor is a tank, but has much less firepower. Also love the 2x2 torpedo layout on the Miranda, coupled with quick-reload launchers. Definitely fits the ship better now. That quad-spread was just too much.

The problem is that these battles never took this long in the show. I realize that they had to shorten things up for TV, but these battles usually run about 4x longer than they should.
No they didn’t but they had severe budget and tech restrictions when most of the shows were recorded. I don’t think large ships should go down that quickly
Hey Lee, When playing the Cardi, you shoulda targeted the torpedoes on the Miranda, due to the fast reload time. * Musta forgot that the shields on Federation ships are far superior then the Cardis.
What's the point? Miranda's warp core is exposed and weak, and it can be hit from almost any angle, my tactic would be to not even bother with the shield generator, just go straight for the core. And a damage to warp core also lowers the recharge rate of all weapons, so you get the same effect.
@@acebrandon3522 Does it? That core was gone in... what 4 hits from the Galor's main beam? I don't think it takes longer. Miranda is great, but as soon as the shields drop below 30%, the core is the main target. Why disarm the ship when you can just destroy it. XD
Hey, do you upscale your videos before publishing? Graphics look so good and gameplay is so smooth! If not, could you give some hints on how to best accomplish this? I used to play this game eons ago when it first came out and tried installing it, but doesn't look nearly as good as yours. Thanks!
Hi, yes I do upscale my videos, mostly to mitigate the effects of UA-cam compression at 1080p. Thank you for your comments regarding the graphics, they are mostly the result of dozens of tweaks and small improvements across the board! I will be publishing the mod when it’s finished 👍
It's funny that the Miranda holds up so well here against a Galor, but in Operation Return we watch Cardassian phasers slice right through the Sitak and the Majestic.
@@blammers Also yes, and to be honest those Mirandas did well only being holed but still operational considering we see larger starships, cruisers, getting one-shot killed by the Galor Type IIIs.

Wow the human factor makes all the difference. I didnt expect the Galor to be such a pushover in round 1. Great show! LLAP

Thanks for the suggestion, the Miranda feels much better to fly now
My thoughts exactly! Its a Panzer IV G vs. T-34.
A good battle. I like to think this is how the first skirmishes of the Border Wars were like. Both sides putting their older stuff forward.
Starfl was putting its older ships on the Cardassian border. The Cardassians were throwing their best and most advanced at them.

Great battle! And using those new Cardassian torpedoes! I really like the "silencer" sound effect for those. 👍
you can say what you want about the miranda class, but it's design looks just awesome.
Manoeuvrability of the Miranda is not correct.
It’s moving around like the Defiant or a Runabout.
3:56 Aw poor Cardassians. Maybe go at em with the NX class next time. Make it a fair fight.
Nah, AI vs AI, this would've been a pretty even fight. It's just the human element is HUGE for small ships.

Different Galors. Those were refit Galor IIs and IIIs. This is the OG Galor Type I from the 2330s.
Also at that point in the battle they had probably already taken heavy fire from the Dominion allied fleet.
