As tears goes by…. One by one they are leaving us. Bless her heart and thank you Marianne for being part of my teen years. Thanks again Neil for her tribute and taking me down memory lane once again.
Thank you for sharing your time spent with Marianne Faithful. When her album “Broken English” came out, I was 29 yo. & in the same psychic pain as Marianne. I wore the album out, I played it so much. R.I.P. dear Marianne
I was in high school, but I loved that album too. I met her at a book signing for her autobiography, she was so friendly and kind, and believe me not all celebrities are. I’m sorry she’s gone, but she’s left us a lot herself behind for us 😢💔
She had the long hair, with the bangs, she had the pouty mouth like Patti Boyd and that was the look that many girls in the 60's wanted to emulate and all the boys loved.
I LOVED Marianne and was devastated to learn of her passing. I saw her live a few times back in the 90’s and she was a consummate performer. She was a great actress too! She chose intriguing roles and got even better the older she got. I still listen to her music. Her last release a year or so ago with Warren Ellis was a fitting masterpiece to bookend her career. Thanks for sharing such a warm memory Sean, as ever, you are a gentleman.
I’m American. I had never heard of her, so I listened to her song and it is wonderful. I enjoyed her voice and her sincerity of it. It meant a lot to me, and that’s the magic of music. Thanks Neil ❤ from across the pond to all tonight. Downloaded to my favorites.
I'm American and loved Marianne Faithful throughout my teen years (born 1947), as well as many other British singers and pop groups. ("The British Invasion"). The 1960s were a great time to be a teenager !!
Rip Marianne Faithfull was my husband dream girl in 60s when he was 16year old lad My goodness neil what greats you have met ❤my husband miffed specially you meeting Miss Faithfull 😢
Thank you Neil...I simply adored Marianne...and I loved her sweet voice... until she underwent a few life changes then it was quite raw and it gave her voice quite an edge ...I've still got the lps...and the hair...and the mini skirt...the shoes and the white boots...and everything Mary Quant...ah...the days of youth with hopes and dreams ...and the energy to go with it... 🎶🎶😃💖💖🌠
It is the evening of the day. I sit and watched the children play.... I was a teen myself and remember that song so well. As tears to go by, RIP Marianne.
🇭🇲🦘👋 A lovely tribute (by you Neil) for the wonderful Marianne Faithfull. A singer, actress, and quite an 'inspiration' to many more, than she ever knew. She may have said (and thought) that she was "not the greatest singer" but (in fact) she could sing very well, and (with her quite special voice) she could sing from the heart, and 'sell' a song - any song. Remembering also, that many people have a great singing voice, but that doesn't mean that they can actually sing, let alone 'sell' a song. As to 'sell' a song (make the listener want to here it and 'get it') you need much MORE than just a 'voice'. You need to deliver that song, in your own unique way, and 'this' was what Marianne Faithfull could do, and did. With songs 🎶🎶 like "As tears go by." It was so kind of you (Neil) to 'share' your memories with us, and I'm so pleased that you did. How nice to hear (too) how Marianne had appreciated you 'dressing up' for her, being the gentleman that you were - and are! It is always bitter/sweet when we remember someone we knew (as you have done) but then they pass away; but I appreciate you sharing this with us. I also thank Marianne for the music, and for the memories, and may Marianne Faithfull RIP 🙏🕊 You did her memory proud, and so I will join you in "raising a glass" (or a cup of tea) in her memory. You are such a good person Neil, and a gentleman. You really are! "God bless" 🙏 and "Thank you" very much Neil xx 👔⭐👋
Good morning my dear Lyndell, always a joy to hear from you and share your warm compassionate words, this video was so special and Neils tribute was brilliant and heartfelt. I do hope you are well and Bob is feeling better, you have both been in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope you received my last message with the Community Centre title. What a lovely day it was here yesterday, sunshine, blue sky and although a nip in the air, truly lovely. We took Kasey and Bayley on the dunes and they were like pocket rockets, uncoiled springs zooming here there and everywhere. Bayley is like a floating Gisele, his beautiful coat shines, just like his personslity and little Kasey was exploring every rabbit hole, playing hide, seek and eat as she always does, a real superstar. Our trip to the vet went OK and all is on for Tuesday with Smudge,it's quite an intrusive operation but I hope it benefits her in the long run, her teeth and gums are so rotten and inflamed, fingers crossed. My birds were here in their droves yesterday, every little blue tit, bullfinch, goldfinch and starling were here dancing and hoppibg on my window ledge, they have no fear and it's a joy to watch. Kasey is here now in the land of nod but sends a big hug.🫂. Please take care of yourself my friend, you mean so much and I send prayers and blessings to you and all your special family. Much love and positive friendship is sent to you both from all your Anglesey buddies. Hxx👋👋🙏🙏🏴🌟🌺❤️❤️🐕🐕🫂🫂🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱
@heleneentwistle8050 and "Good evening" to you, dearest Helene, although I know it is Saturday 'morning' where you are, while our day is drawing to an end. It has been very hot 🥵 here today (over 30°c) and we are in for a very hot night, with the temp only going down to 20°c, before tomorrow (and the next 3 days) it will be in the mid to high 30's. Not returning to the 20's until about Wednesday. So, keeping as cool as we can, and drinking plenty of water etc., and indulging in some 'ice cold' 🧊 ice creams 🍦🍦 as well. "Yummy" 😋 "cooling". Even so, with the high humidity it is difficult to keep comfortable. ● You might remember 'those' bush fires 🔥 that I mentioned (ages ago). I had thought they were out, but apparently not, and (with this heat) they are raging again; and with the high temps, there are 'dry lightning' ⚡ strikes forecast for tomorrow. Sadly little to no rain with it! So we pray 🙏 for those fighting the fires and living in those areas, as well. Not forgetting all of the native animals that reside there too! Poor things. ● Before I forget! "Yes" I did receive your message with the Community Centre title, and "thank you". I even sent you a reply (quite lengthy) but it disappeared, so (as there are things I wish to discuss with you) I will re-word a reply (concerning the Centre) to you, and attach it to 'another' comment, today or tomorrow. If okay with you!? ● You mentioned about Smudge 🐈 being booked in for her dental surgery 'this' Tuesday. I also hope it goes well for her, and although she will be uncomfortable (and in some pain) for a few days, I am sure that the Vet will give you medication to help ease her pain. One thing about mouths though, is that, once attended to, they do tend to heal much quicker than we think. Not noticable the first day, but within a few days, I am certain that Smudge will be feeling much better. Fingers crossed 🤞 and, I'm sure you'll have some special soft food for her - as well. She is in good hands. ● You recently mentioned the price too (vet costs) and "yes" a friend of ours has a dog that ate poison (accidentally). He took his dog to an animal hospital where it was admitted and treated. Is still on medication and will be for a while, but it has already cost our friend over $7,000 to save his dog. It wasn't even a year old. Poor thing, but it is recovering. ● It was lovely hearing about Bayley 🐕 (your floating gazelle) 😂 and sweet Kasey 🐕 too! 🤗 What joys they are. Anyway! I wish you ALL a lovely weekend, and I will leave more (about your Community Centre) elsewhere, as I wrote above. "Take care" and "God bless" 🙏 with much love from your Aussie friend, Lyndell xx 💓🫂💓🫂 💓🐕🐕 💓🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈 👋👋
Argh God bless you Lyndell, so sorry you are suffering still with the heat and also those dreadful bush fires are still raging, I hope and pray they can be brought under control without too much pain and suffering, I really feel for you all. Vet bills are indeed extortionate, I understand how your friend feels and I do hope his dog is now well. I am sure Smudge will be fine, she is young and fit so fingers crossed, i have plenty of tuna to eat when she comes home, she loves it. I look forward to your next messages, always a joy and make my day. Please take care, keep cool and enjoy plenty of ice cream. Much love to you my friend Hxx❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🏴🏴🌺🌟🍦 🍦
As a huge Stones fan since I was a kid I remembered Marianne Faithfull. She never got all the credit she deserved for the songs she inspired. So sad to hear of her passing ❤️
Many thanks Sean for sharing some wonderful anecdotes on Marianne's life . . I have seen a number of tributes since her passing , but I think that what you have achieved here is very much a fair synopsis of how she would wish to be thought of and remembered at this time .
Lovely video, Neil. I'm old enough to be a fan of Marianne's. I'm so glad that you enjoyed interviewing her. It's amazing how different these pop stars are in real life when they're not "performing" 👏👏👏
Marianne had a unique personality and she was talented. It is too bad that she got so involved with the drug scene, which ultimately took years from her life.
She was certainly a part of my history, Neil, and I will always remember her as being so. I'm in my 70's now, so the 'Swinging Sixties" was very much part of my life. Thank you for the lovely presentation and the tribute to her.
👋👋 Bravo Neil, what a captivating heartfelt tribute to the beautiful iconic Marianne Faithful. Your magical stardust memories of this talented special lady were priceless and a joy to share. Marianne and her music were a huge part of my life and her memory will be forever in my ❤. May she RIP. Thank you for your wonderful words Neil, you are a true gentleman. @@heleneentwistle8050 "Good morning" dearest Helene. It already being 30°c here at 8.33am Sunday, although it will be reaching about 36°c or higher today. So very hot. I realise that it is just after 9.30pm on Saturday for you, and I hope that 'this' doesn't wake you up, if you've already gone to bed. Anyway! I thought I'd better ask what I wanted to ask, regarding your Community Centre, and (again) "thank you" for it's name/title. I was thinking (and it's just a thought) would you mind if I made contact with the Centre (via their information page where you can leave an enquiry etc) where I would (but only if you say okay) inform them of who I am; that I know you (and I'd name you) and I'd ask if they would mind passing on my e-address details to you, for me?? With my idea being that (if they did) you could then decide whether to reply to me directly (via that means) OR ask them to send your e-address details to me. In this way, we could then correspond with each other (with the occasional photos etc of dogs and cats) without taking up so much of Neil's comments section on his videos. While still saying "hello" etc on them, but more involved information sent in this 'other' format. I would (of course) NOT contact the Centre AT ALL unless you (and Alan) have no objection to me doing so. Also, giving you time to ask the Centre, if me contacting you (through them) would be okay with them. If not (on all counts) I will fully understand, and I won't proceed. Anyway, please 'think on it' and let me know (whenever you like) what you think of my idea. I also hope that I've made my intentions 'clear' as I had to be careful to NOT type in certain words, for fear of this message being deleted. Like others here I was probably 24 or 25 and also wore out "Broken English"' when it first came out. My favourite thing to do was to have it playing really loud in my car with all the windows wound down and watching the looks I got when stopped at traffic lights. I lived in the "upper" class areas of Melbourne Aust at that time - I think people dreaded seeing my car coming along the shopping strip 🤣🤣 RIP Marianne Faithfull you gave much joy to a generation of young women across the globe.
👋👋👋👋’ow do chums! So sad to hear about Marianne Faithful. I liked her too. She had a tough time! There was a program about her, and her recollections were so sad, but she was lovely. I hope she finds peace.☮️
I'm having a coffee, Neil, just after 6 am. here in the uk and wide awake. I was shocked when mariannes passing came up on my news feed. I loved the sound of her voice, not a great singer, but who cares. Thankyou for sharing your memory of her she certainly sounded like a lovely lady who lived her life the way she wanted along with the mistakes. And who hasnt made mistakes? Rip Marianne
I lived in Michigan as a teen and loved her duet with Mitch Ryder, A Thrill's a Thrill. She was always straight forward and likable. She will truly be missed.💖🌹
What a wonderful segment! I'm a huge Stones fan and once went as Marianne Faithfull for Halloween. I thought that she was fantastic! I loved her cameo on Ab Fab! Marianne will truly be missed.
Lovely story Neil. 'As Tears Go By' is one of my favourite songs. I looked her up and was amazed at her career. She released 22 Albums, the last one in 2021 and starred in TV and films including 'Absolutely Fabulous' three times, as God, and in the first Dune film in 2021 as the voice of Bene Gesserit Ancestor, despite her issues. I only ever knew 'As Tears Go By.' What a lady, what a life.
I adored Marianne Faithful. My first boyfriend said I sounded like her when I sang. I loved her voice, loved her. Bless her dear heart. A true legend of the 60s. xx
To an extent you had to go through the 1960s as a teenager or trainee adult to appreciate that many females wanted to be Marianne Faithfull. She was unique. So many of the band members and rockers as well as female singers have gone. Memory Lane is a place in my head for it being a kinder and gentler time 💚
She was so beautiful and had such a hard life. I saw her a few years ago on Who Do You Think You Are and given her childhood and how she was brought up it’s not surprising that she was rather mixed up as a young woman. But hearing several interviews with her later in life she came across as down to earth and very intelligent. She was one of life’s survivors. RIP Marianne.
She had a lovely, lovely smile and was an expert in wearing red lipstick as it should be worn. Great talent, of the generation that was raised by parents scarred by WWII and its aftermath.
I loved the idea that you got dressed up for her, as indeed you do for us - your chums (I especially ❤ your ties, Neil). I always liked Marianne, mainly because she was a ‘survivor'. She was seriously photogenic and a fabulous actress. There is a film of hers that I ❤, but it’s probably one you wouldn’t recommend for us😊. She starred with Jenny Agutter in Irina Palm. Well worth watching if you see it on YT or other streaming services. Going back to what she said about you, we chums ❤ you because you are a gentleman. We've got to know you so well through your video channel, and we can see when you’re really annoyed or upset, but you’re mainly happy; so we chums must stick together! Now I’m awake I think it’s time for a cuppa and a jammie dodger! Sleep well Neil, and ❤ to you and all of our chums around the 🌍🌎🌏from a wind strewn Midlands 🙋♂️🇬🇧
She was well before my time, but growing up in the LA suburbs, there were older kids, who were fully engulfed in the music of that time period. And they babysat us, and played their records. Artists like Faithfull, Clarke, et al, fired my imagination as a girl. They were the coolest!
As tears goes by…. One by one they are leaving us. Bless her heart and thank you Marianne for being part of my teen years. Thanks again Neil for her tribute and taking me down memory lane once again.
I loved her voice. She was one of my favorite artists. Marianne will be forever young to me.

She had an amazing life, many highs and many lows, she was such a survivor. Loved Broken English, will always remember her. Thanks Neil❤
👋👋👋👋’ow do chums!
So sad to hear about Marianne Faithful. I liked her too. She had a tough time!
There was a program about her, and her recollections were so sad, but she was lovely. I hope she finds peace.☮️
Thank you Neil.
She was something great for sure. Rest in Peace.
I love your stories Neil! This one is great! 💚🦋💚Thanks Neil! 👍👋🌻🐞🌻
Thank you Neil I hadn't realised what a nice person she really was. A beautiful lady.
So beautiful and the original rock chick and even played God RIP sweet lady.👋👋👋👋
Howdy, Neil👋🏾
What a lovely face she has 💙 I was born in the mid sixties and have always loved the look of the young women 💜
One of my favorite songs. The haunting voice and waiflike looks ... Loved her❤
Lovely recollections Neil. RIP Marianne 🌹
I adored Marianne Faithful. My first boyfriend said I sounded like her when I sang. I loved her voice, loved her. Bless her dear heart. A true legend of the 60s. xx
RIP Marianne, what a talent! She was wonderful.
Good Evening Neil 🇺🇲👋🤚👋❤️🌹☺️🌹❤️
R.I.P. Marianne Faithful. Singer and entertainer of my teen years and beyond.
To an extent you had to go through the 1960s as a teenager or trainee adult to appreciate that many females wanted to be Marianne Faithfull. She was unique. So many of the band members and rockers as well as female singers have gone. Memory Lane is a place in my head for it being a kinder and gentler time 💚
Wonderful video. I just love your stories. And she is right about the suite. 😊
Hi Neil and Chums! Stay cool all of us in Australia 🇦🇺. 👋👋👋👋
MF's songs will always be remembered by our generation. She was and always will be remembered as a lovely person.
One of the best concerts I ever saw was Marianne Faithful’s.
My Condolences to her family, friends and fans.
Thank you Neil, my word, I thought she was beautiful. We’re all getting old.mmwhere did the years go🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
She had a lovely, lovely smile and was an expert in wearing red lipstick as it should be worn. Great talent, of the generation that was raised by parents scarred by WWII and its aftermath.
Rip marianne luved this ladies voice and demeanor another talent singing in heaven❤❤❤❤
🌷👋good story! May she rest in peace
☕ to the beautiful Marianne Faithful! ❤
She lived on Thompson avenue, Ormskirk and then in Reading where she was about and always spoke
A nice lady RIP
I remember seeing Marianne on a TV programme a few years ago. She seemed to be happily accepted by Ireland where she was living.
Awesome Thank you
What a voice-always loved "Ballad of Lucy Jordan"
Great tie ❤️💛❤️💛❤️💛❤️💛❤️💛❤️
She was well before my time, but growing up in the LA suburbs, there were older kids, who were fully engulfed in the music of that time period. And they babysat us, and played their records. Artists like Faithfull, Clarke, et al, fired my imagination as a girl. They were the coolest!
She gave Mick Jagger an education that he was lacking
RIP Marianne ❤
Lovely person!!! RIP XXX
