Early detection of cancer by a Colonoscopy screening saves a patient’s life

While training to run the Palmetto 200 Susan Cafferty found that her endurance was declining. During cardiac treatments Susan started experiencing GI issues and was persuaded to seek care, and have a colonoscopy. The screening detected cancer and Susan was referred to Prisma Health’s colorectal surgery team. Robotic surgery allowed for better visualization during the procedure and to help speed her recovery. Today Susan is cancer free and an advocate for routine colonoscopy screenings.
