Love it. I just picked up an E12 528i with an m30b34 in it + 5spd. Absolutely loving it, your content for sure helped push me to go through with it. There's very little love for E12s online and was cool to see you showing some love. Happy thanksgiving from Mount Dora
What rear subframe is that the standard e30. Or s52. I thinking it's the e30 ? I ask cuz I'm doing a n52 swap to a e30 just did not know If I could used my rear e30 subframe with a n52 differential? Open to any suggestions.
No BMW is the best for modifying. Parts that are literally made by the same company are basically the same part but for a BMW cost triple the price versus say a 240sx etc. Then absolutely BMW is not the best car. I love my E46 but I always recommend people pick something else. Anything Japanese or even American is the best for most people.
The example you bring up of a 240sx highlights the money you have to put in for a blank canvas before you even modify the platform. You can find S chassis being listed for $10k+ with rust holes all throughout the frame and body. Also, trying to find an unmodified S chassis these days in good condition is like a needle in a haystack. It's all about the perspective you are looking at. Are there some parts that are pricier due to "BMW Tax" yes. In the end, these E30s work well in all categories, drifting, track and even as a daily and can be found for half the price of an S chassis if you find the right deal.
