Türkiye neşesini, heyecanını kaybetmedi bence. Bastırdı. Muharrem İnce'nin aday olduğu zamanları hatırladığımda Erdoğan'ın gidişi için küçücük bir ümit bile içimi heyecanla doldurmuştu, seçim sonrasını düşünmekten gözüme uyku girmezdi, sürekli televizyonda yorumcuları dinler seçim gününü iple çekerdim. Sonra ise o gün.. gene bastırdım içime heyecanımı. 2023 ve sonrasına saklıyorum.
Bekleyelim bakalim. 2023 de tekrar bastırıririz nasil olsa. Böyle böyle 2071"e kadar yolu var.
Why does Iceland produce so much musical talent? There are more people in the city I live in than in the entire Icelandic nation, yet we have no one like Olafur or Jonsi or Bubbi Morthen or Soley.
Tony Wyman I ask myself this particular question on a daily basis. It is breathtaking how much talent comes from such a small nation. As they say, there must be something in the water. The Icelandic seem to be such nice people.

Okay so I absolutely love this song but I also have to comment on the cinematography too. That last shot out the window with the children playing in the cemetery then falling down is so simple and understated, yet bone-chillingly magnificent. It suggests so much in a matter of seconds about life, death, childhood, innocence, and transience. All these big abstract forces can collide in the smallest of moments, and this is happening constantly, everywhere, just outside our windows.

um, i kind of disagree with parts of your statement. if you go to the official island songs website, and go to the page about 1995, it talks about an avalanche that struck a town next to the church, killing many people. i kinda think that last shot was to show the innocent lives of the children, people living in that town etc. right before the avalanche struck.

I'm listening to this song.
It has a stuffy sailor-style accordion in the background. Repetitively, the sound of the whistle brings the monotonous march of a ship floating silently on the open sea. It seems to be a slightly bigger boat, with a small cabin. It is old in the sense that in a game or anime the things that are not used or cannot be used by the protagonists/player have a paler color, are less detailed, and those things are so in contrast with the other objects with which the characters can come into contact and manipulate.
If you looked at the boat from a distance, you would say that it is abandoned, although it has a light somewhere on that small cabin, outside, signaling that someone is wasting their time in it, surviving on the fish that they pretend to catch in order to make a deal. But it's the kind of loneliness from which you more or less expect a sailor to appear out of the cabin when the light bulb happens to flicker. He goes out and adjusts it and then when he's done, he returns. But he doesn't turn back immediately, because after adjusting the light bulb, he takes another look around and when he reaches the one who is imagining this painting, he fixes him with that look for a few moments. In those moments, under the vintage English cap type hat, used, and framed by a big, unkempt beard, appears the gaze of someone who seems resigned in his destiny on that boat. Then he turns around and enters the cabin without being impressed that anyone notices him in that endless ocean.
Nobody sleeps, I say. Neither I nor the sailor. Because even when he seems to be sleeping, in fact he is in a continuous state of vigilance, and that vigilance is not for someone or something specific but only that kind of vigilance from which if you wake him up you realize that he has never fallen asleep because all that time he was staring blankly with his eyes closed. But why the sailor does not sleep, no one could know but only imagine. Most often it is about some profound love or person that he lost or was refused by. The kind of romanticism that fundamentally affects your life, especially when your pride and age are so advanced that you cannot allow yourself to see beyond particular events another hope for life. Exactly like Joseph Kern from Rouge (Trois Couleurs), with the difference that Joseph was, however, somewhat more energetic than our sailor.
But I think that personally I find myself more with Joseph. The idea of the retired sailor who knows why he retired and it's better that way once impressed me. But for a while now I've had these states of existential doubt along with the prospect of a future in which things are going well, whatever that means. Because I stopped romanticizing suffering and learned to look for solutions. And Joseph is not necessarily looking for solutions, but he welcomed Valentine into his life much faster than I would expect from a sailor like this. He saw through her from the beginning and let his feelings go. She reminded him of Hildegard.

Bu şarkıyı dinlemeye başladığımda ağır depresyon sorunlarım vardı. Ayrıca teyzemin hastalığı da gittikçe artmıştı. Hem nasıl bu kadar güzel bir müzik olabilir diye düşünüyorum hem de beni nasıl bu kadar boğan bir müzik olabilir diye düşünüyorum. Teyzemi kaybettik 1 hafta içerisinde. Üzerinden 2 sene geçti. Bu müziği en son dinlememin üzerinden de 2 sene geçti. Zaman geçti fakat ne bu müziğin verdiği duygular geçti ne de dünya karşısında ki acizliğim.
