Note: this lecture highlights the historical nuances as to the age of consent in medieval societies. Laws and social norms in medieval societies differed to ours. This lecture does not encourage marriage with younger females (of any particular age) in any shape or form. All listeners are advised to follow the law of the land in this regard.

I don't question mohammed's integrity as a 'pattern of conduct', because I have any phobia towards him/islam.
E.g I don't think people (some) were questioning president trump's conduct in office bcs they had some kind of phobia towards him. It's bcs whoever occupies that office is expected to behave in a certain way only.

We are also to believe that Jesus PBUH mother was married at around 12 years of age to Joseph. And Rebecca was married at 3? In Bible. King Richard married a 12 year old French princess. Of course it is not the norm nowadays. But there were several reasons why they did these in them days.

Wow, Jesus or Muhammad. Reflect on your life at this point. Islam is a religion that centers around a man. You are watching a youtube video by a Islamic scholar who is having to explain your Prophet did marry a 6yr and consummated the marriage at 9yr according to the most authentic and trusted hadith. The quran is a compilation of jewish midrish, Nontrinitarian Christian Syric text from the 6th and 7th century. This is why the Quran is largely incomprehensible. Some of the same stories found in the Quran can be found in Syriac lectionaries used in Christian churches of Syria of that time and fully explained in larger detail. Other verses of the Quran are sermons from various Jewish and Christian sects of the time whom held different beliefs. This explains why the Quran is so contradictory, vague and out of context. Ironically the word Quran means "recitation" and contains various "recitations" from Jewish and Christian lectionaries written in Aramaic-Arabic hybrid language by nontrinitarian Arabic Christians who spoke Arabic but could write in Aramaic. Futhermore the Quran is about Jesus not Prophet Mohammad as "Mohammad" was a title for Jesus used by Arabic Christians at the time meaning "the praised one". There are 34 mentions of Jesus in the Qur'an and the name "Muhammad" is mentioned four times in the Quran. Think about it a lectionary (collection of recitations) by Arabic Christians would have included verses like John 14:16 "and I will pray to God that he will send another comforter whose title will be ((Praised One)) or Comforter or Counselor" (( Praised one)) in Arabic would be Ahmad or Muhammad), but these are not names they are titles describing Jesus. Islam is truly the Sunna of some guy named Muhammad which was written 200 years after the Quran, but the Quran is about Jesus he is truly the most praised and worthy of praise. He truly is the best example for all mankind, for he did no sin. He didn't have 9 wives, he was not a war monger and did not die of poison or sickness but gave his life as sacrifice for all mankind. Jesus is Mohammad(most worthy to be praised) and Jesus is Immanuel( God with us). Look at Matthew 1:23 ("they shall call his name Emmanuel") provides the name 'Emmanuel' (meaning God is with us). The verse says "They called his name" this doesn't mean another Prophet is coming named "Emmanuel" this means they called Jesus a title "Emmanuel" meaning (God is with us). They also called him "Ahmed" or Muhammad" for He is worthy to be praised. Jesus is waiting for you.

  • @Derrowssi

The problem is that the prophet Muhammad is supposed to be the Moral guide at all times for the entire humanity. In the same way, he revealed that 'alcohol' (which was actually wine since alcohol is a general term that encompasses different chemicals for different use such as methanol for surgical medicine) is banned or that femicide was banned as this was practiced at the time.
So the argument that it was acceptable at the time and hence it is okay then one wonders why the prophet was correcting the behavior of the so-called Arab pagans. The Pagans could have told the 'prophet' that his new moral teachings were modernity at the time and dismiss the prophet as a liberal moralizer!
Also, if no one told the prophet it was wrong that should not be an issue as it was the prophet who was the teacher and the one who was receiving the revelation from the creator and it was the duty of the prophet to correct their ways the same way he corrected them on the use of 'alcohol'.
Finally, Adnan is completely dishonest in comparing the 'prophet of God' who had communication with the creator(who is said to have objective morality) to Victorian England people who had no revelation from the creator and had supposedly no objective moral guidance.

For 1400 years he was never accused of pedophilia at the time by his detractaires (Jews and Christians or idolaters)
      Why??
History explains it by itself, as in the 11th century, the queen of Leon and Casille Urracque1 was married at the age of 8, Philippe Auguste II in the 12th century married Isabelle at the age of 10. Juana, Queen of Sicily, married William II at the age of eleven, the Princess of Navarre in the 13th century married the King of France Philip IV the Beautiful at 11 years old. In the 14th century Princess Isabelle de Valois married Calais Richard II was married at the age of 8, St Augustine married a girl aged 10. And the list is long.
Moreover, why criticizes the prophet Muhammad PBUH when we know that the Virgin Mary was 12 yo married with Joseph the carpenter, 90 yo and Isaac 40 yo with rebecca between 3 and 10 yo according your biblical exegesis
if you go to France now, there is no more age of consent since 2016. It is the judge who will decide the act of consent if there is an issue. This is why the french senate tried to legiferate for an of 13 yo. Why 13 yo? on what basis?

When you explain it to them, they usually respond in these two ways:
*”Why does it matter if it was normal back then?”*
Because the critics want to portray the Prophet (ﷺ) as a sexually deviant person. But if the Prophet (ﷺ) was just doing what everyone else did, he is not a sexually deviant person.
By asking this question, they have effectively shifted the goalpost because they first try to argue that the Prophet (ﷺ) is deviant, and then they switch up their argument once you show them that it was normal back then.
*”Why couldn’t Allah just inform the Prophet that it was harmful?“*
Because the practice was not harmful given the circumstances they lived in. There’s a hidden premise that previous societies were just dumb (morally) and that we became smarter. There’s another hidden premise that 21st century Liberal norms are the pinnacle of human society.
Not true. Go take an anthropology class. People adapted to their situation and they knew what was best for them. If you really believe that hundreds of thousands of “little girls” were left traumatized by millions of “perverted men”, then your understanding of history is quite flawed.

Have not heard anyone say that we have reached the pinnacle of human society. Again, just because something was the norm, doesnt make it ethical, people went along with the norms considered right by the majority. I promise you that when little girls were married away in the past, they cried. When grown men went to bed with them, they cried. If a young child cries as you attempt to 'lay' with her, you are a unethical perverse piece of garbage

    About @1:16:00
Asks about a book, here is some Shakespeare where Juliet's father says she is too young to get married he knows marriage and pregnancy would be harmful for a child physically and mentally.
    "CAPULET
But saying o'er what I have said before.
My child is yet a stranger in the world.
She hath not seen the change of fourteen years.
Let two more summers wither in their pride
Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride."
This is not about laws and public opinion. This is about the unconscionable physical and psychological harm done to a child by child marriage and the fact that a child's brain is not developed enough to be able to understand such things and consent to them. In the same way we now know slavery was and is always wrong regardless of the laws, the public opinion and the time in history. We now know child marriage was and is always wrong regardless of the laws, the public opinion and the time in history.
Aisha never had a child and some physical harm caused by 'consummating' a marriage with a little girl of only 9 years old and all the wrongs against Aisha that followed this are a likely explanation for her lack of children.
If you want a person to be revered as a prophet, the perfect man and an example for all people from that point on. This 'prophet' must be judged by the highest moral standards available not the flawed standards of the time they lived in.

I definitely respect Adnan Rashid , I think his view on this and the evidence makes a lot of sense but I do think that it is worth questioning a few aspects that don't make sense ,one of these is that there is a hadith that from my limited knowledge and memory about this,by calculating the age and time would mean that Aisha was explaining speaking at the age of 3 years old in detail about complex concepts and events having deep understanding and awareness about the events surrounding her that are impossible for a 3 year old to even grasp and have even an understanding of let alone being able to explain it. This makes ni living sense and it's important to know that un the time of the Prophet Muhammad people in that society and mist parts of the world did not celebrate birthdays and follow and count their age closely at all many people had no idea of what their real age was and many who had some vague idea but it would be an a vague guess and it would be very inaccurate, even today I you go to third world countries you will still see that many people don't know their real age accurately, they don't follow their age accurately or celebrate birthdays every year to mark it an follow ,they don't know the exact year they were born and this is still going on today ,what do you then think about 1400 years ago at the time 9f the Prophet in the middle of a desert were the majority of people were illiterate? This is just a fact and It makes it very likely that Aisha and those around her were only guessing yheri age , or could be many years off from her real age and coupled with the hadith that from memory I think is weak hadiths had may Allah forgive me if I'm wrong about this ,but hadith that are weaker and when calculating would have Aisha explained complex events around her at the age of years old, this with the hadirhs being weaker and coupled with logic and what we know about the ability of a 3 years old doesn't make sense ,I don't have the hadirh number to reference unfortunately qt this moment but I will come back once I have found it.

And as for a 9 year old bride, among the Roman Empire ( secularists) a bride of 7 was considered NORMAL ( there are records of this- usually for wealthy families to join together) ... so they wouldn't question Aisha's age.....but they also wouldn't question homosexuality, persecution of Christians etc... so much for your medieval critics. Just to add, Islam doesn't just use age as a guideline to determine a child/adult.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s Britain moved to bring marriage customs in India into line with her imperial values, and a series of laws introduced age restrictions for Hindu and Muslim girls marrying."
The above used fragements are quoted on the wiki of the islam subreddit about child-marriage/consent.

@@tefaalmsry3171 I was responding to your claim that he discusses history as a historian. He does not If he was a historian he would discuss the mean age of first marriage and he would discuss major historians about the USA and UK and Europe's demographics (John Hajnal, Peter Laslett). He would also show Marriage Age statistics which were collected and published by teh brits since 1836. All show the European Marriage pattern with a mean age of first marriage in the mid twenties. All show that therre was a major gap between puberty and mean age of marriage because puberty was not relevant for the decision to marry.
I watched your video. Paul recently had Jonathan Brown on his channel and Jonathan Brown's 'MisQuoting Muhammed" is mentioned in the wiki on child-marriage of the islam subreddit.
"Britain and, to a lesser extent, most of northwest Europe differed from the pre-modern pattern of early marriage. Marriage age tended to be later, in the mid-twenties. In England, available data suggest that this was the case as far back as the fourteenth century."
      and
`"Law was an imperial export. The mission to rescue ‘native’ women from their backward cultures was a prominent theme in British portrayals of the empire’s colonial activities.
Jonathan Brown confirms the European Marriage Pattern as marrying in the mid twentise since the 1400s and is completely contardicted by Adnan who claims:
31:56 !people before 1900 for them a 10 years old bride was normal a seven years old bride was normal"
39:02 "it was normal for them they could imagine a 10 years old bride they could imagine a nine and eight years old bride they could you cannot if you went to a wedding today as you've all testified right if you ready if you went to a wedding today but if you are alive in the nineteenth century no problem"
Adnan is blatantly misrepresenting history. And so is Paul.
In the video you linked of Paul claims that during the colonial period supposedly pgirls of 7 knew about sex and marriage based on some law. But this contradicts what Jonathan brown wrote. ""n the late 1800s and early 1900s Britain moved to bring marriage customs in India into line with her imperial values, and a series of laws introduced age restrictions for Hindu and Muslim girls marrying."

@@tefaalmsry3171 I did not call anyone a pedophile. I pointed at the fact that the risk of harm is real from intercourse and from very early pregnancy.
Accroding to historian Peter Laslett who checked the birth and marriage registers of england and is a Royal Academy Member level historian there is no evidence in the records that marriage at 13 was common in the upper classes at Shakespeare's time.
Laslett pointed to the fact that the original story the play was based on had Juliet 16 years old. He speculated that since all roles were played by boys the age was possibly lowered so the boys selected to play Juliet would be small enough not to have their voice break.
So, no Juliet 's Age in the play was not representative of marriage ages at the time.
I will quote from the European Marriage Pattern wikipedia page these sections are both based on Peter Laslett "The Wold We Have Lost" 1965 which is in the archive dot org site. And I have read it. I can confirm that the wikipedia sections are accurate representations.

" From 1619 to 1660 in the archdiocese of Canterbury, England, the median age of the brides was 22 years and nine months while the median age for the grooms was 25 years and six months, with average ages of 24 years for the brides and nearly 28 years for the grooms, with the most common ages at marriage being 22 years for women and 24 years for men; the Church dictated that the age when one could marry without the consent of one's parents was 21 years. A large majority of English brides in this time were at least 19 years of age when they married, and only one bride in a thousand was thirteen years of age or younger.[45]
William Shakespeare's drama Romeo and Juliet puts Juliet's age at just short of fourteen years; the idea of a woman marrying in secret at a very early age would have scandalized Elizabethans. The common belief in Elizabethan England was that motherhood before 16 was dangerous; popular manuals of health, as well as observations of married life, led Elizabethans to believe that early marriage and its consummation permanently damaged a young woman's health, impaired a young man's physical and mental development, and produced sickly or stunted children. Therefore, 18 came to be considered the earliest reasonable age for motherhood and 20 and 30 the ideal ages for women and men, respectively, to marry."
If Adnan Rashid had consulted the works of respected Historians he would not be babbling nonsense.

Several factors have been linked to the high occurrence of obstetric fistula in sub-Saharan Africa, including the preponderance of early marriage and teenage pregnancy, which in turn mean that the girls do not have pelvises which have sufficiently developed to allow reproduction \[10\]. This is further compounded by the poor nutritional status of most of the girls who live in these highly deprived settings \[11,12\]."
Aid-workers confirm death and fistulas are the problem: https[]://[]www[].livescience[].com[]/19584-10-year-birth.html
"The greatest danger, however, is to the pelvic floor. Girls may start ovulating and menstruating as early as age 9, though the average is around 12 to 13. ........ Just because a girl can get pregnant, though, doesn't mean she can safely deliver a baby. The pelvis does not fully widen until the late teens, meaning that young girls may not be able to push the baby through the birth canal. The results are horrific, said Wall and Thomas, who have both worked in Africa treating women in the aftermath of such labors. Girls may labor for days; many die. Their babies often don't survive labor either.
The women and girls who do survive often develop fistulas, which are holes between the vaginal wall and the rectum or bladder. When the baby's head pushes down and gets stuck, it can cut portions of the mother's soft tissue between its skull and her pelvic bones. As a result, the tissue dies, and a hole forms. Feces and urine then leak through the hole and out of the vagina. Women with fistulas are often divorced and shunned. And young girls are at higher risk."

Muslims do not pray or deify the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Islam is monotheistic, and we as Muslims understand there is but one God, and that's Allah. Christians repeatedly attempt to discredit the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), because somehow this will discredit Islam. It won't! We love the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but we do not worship him. Christians, because of their need to worship the Prophet Jesus (PBUH), think they can compare their idolatry of the Prophet Jesus (PBUH) to our love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In Islam, we love all of the prophets sent by Allah.

Interesting Adnan calls anyone who questions the authenticity of ahadith as hadith rejectors. It's only Salafi doctrine that claims everything in Bukhari and Muslim is 100% authentic. As for the age of Ayesha[rduh] , several videos have ben done by Mufti Abu Laythe. Even Dr Jamal Badawi is not particulary convinced about the young age of Ayesha[rduh] when she got married to the Prophet[saw]. The clue to what the real age of Ayesha on being married can possibly be found in her age gap to her sister.
In Islam a girl can be married when she has reached the age of physical and mental maturity, i.e. puberty. Most schools of fiqh seem to say around 15-16.

The fiqh manual Ascent to Felicity annotates puberty/adolescence as "118 That is, puberty. Legally, the minimum age of puberty for girls is nine lunar years (about eight years and nine months on the solar calendar) (Hadiyya 43; Maraqi 'l-Falah 1:200; Bada’i‘1:157)."
Both Sunni and Shia have the Minimum Age to consent to Marriage at 9 lunar years. 8 years and 9 months.
The madhabs mention maximum ages when girls are considered mature (so irrespective of whether they are biologically mature) at 15, 17 and 18.
I do not think you are correct on "only salafi doctrine" it is mainstream Islam that uses this. Progressives are only a tiny minority and they revise. But the revisions lack credibility. Aisha denied having known khadija, for example, easy to belive is she was 3-5 when khadija died, not credible if Aisha was 13-15 when Khadija died.
Since the Jews at the time also had a betrothal system with Option of Puberty it is easily believable that Islam had one. The only problem is that the Jews and Christians later changed their betrothal and marriage rules. But Islam did not. They still allow child-marriage with Option of Puberty and they allow consummation preceding Option of Puberty.
