these people who argue that the prophet ﷺ did not exist are the same people who spend their life attacking him, these people will die and quickly be forgotten while the prophetﷺ will be remembered and followed to the last day of this world.

Historical evidence for the existence of Prophet Muhammad: (1) The Doctrina Jacobi Nuper Baptizati is a 7th century work by a Christian written in 634 CE, only two years after the Prophet passed away. In this dialogue between a Christian and some Jews, the author reveals the appearance of a new Prophet among the Saracens (Arabs): *When the candidatus was killed by the Saracens, I was at Caesarea and I set off by boat to Sykamina. People were saying "the candidatus has been killed," and we Jews were overjoyed. And they were saying that the prophet had appeared, coming with the Saracens, and that he was proclaiming the advent of the anointed one, the Christ who was to come.* *- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 57* (2) Chronicle of 640 CE by a Syriac Orthodox priest Thomas the Presbyter records the battle of Dathin between the Romans and the Arabs and it mentions Prophet Muhammad by name: *On Friday, 4 February, at the ninth hour, there was a battle between the Romans and the Arabs of Muhammad in Palestine twelve miles east of Gaza...* *- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 119* (3) Khuzistan Chronicle is a short 7th century Nestorian chronicle which gives a brief account of the Muslim invasion of Persia and mentions that they were under the leadership of Muhammad: *Then God raised up against them the sons of Ishmael, numerous as the sand on the sea shore, whose leader was Muhammad. Neither walls nor gates, armor or shield, withstood them, and they gained control over the entire land of Persians.* *- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 186* (4) One of the most interesting 7th century accounts about Prophet Muhammad comes from Sebeos who was a Bishop of the House of Bagratunis. Sebeos is the first non-Muslim author to present us with a theory for the rise of Islam that pays attention to what the Muslims themselves thought they were doing: *At that time a certain man from along those same sons of Ishmael, whose name was Muhammad, a merchant, as if by God's command appeared to them as a preacher and the path of truth. He taught them to recognize the God of Abraham, especially because he was learnt and informed in the history of Moses. Now because the command was from on high, at a single order they all came together in unity of religion. Abandoning their vain cults, they turned to the living God who had appeared to their father Abraham. So, Muhammad legislated for them: not to eat carrion, not to drink wine, not to speak falsely, and not to engage in fornication. He said: 'With an oath God promised this land to Abraham and his seed after him for ever. And he brought about as he promised during that time while he loved Israel. But now you are the sons of Abraham and God is accomplishing his promise to Abraham and his seed for you. Love sincerely only the God of Abraham, and go and seize the land which God gave to your father Abraham. No one will be able to resist you in battle, because God is with you.* *- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 129* We can see that Sebeos knows plenty of personal information about Prophet Muhammad. For example, he is aware that Muhammad was a merchant by profession before his Prophethood. He hints that his life was suddenly changed by a divinely inspired revelation. He presents a good summary of Prophet Muhammad's preaching i.e belief in One God and Abraham as a common ancestor of Jews and Arabs. He even picks out some of the prohibitions which are mentioned in the Qur'an, such as false speech and drinking of alcohol. All this information that Sebeos presents accurately conforms to the Islamic traditions. Many take such detailed, early and accurate accounts about Prophet Muhammad for granted but it's actually quite rare with figures from ancient history.
Why not quote the whole thing for "context"? In the year 945, indiction 7, on Friday 7 February (634) at the ninth hour, there was a battle between the Romans and the Arabs of Muhammad (tayyaye d-Mhmt) in Palestine twelve miles east of Gaza. The Romans fled, leaving behind the patrician bryrdn, whom the Arabs killed. Some 4000 poor villagers of Palestine were killed there, Christians, Jews and Samaritans. The Arabs ravaged the whole region. [2] Thomas the Presbyter, Chronicle, pp. 147-148
@@majeedm689 You are correct. We should read the early Islamic conquests in it's "historical context". During the reign of Umar bin Al-Khattab, second Caliph of Islam, the Muslim armies began liberating the people of Syria from the Byzantines (Romans). The Christians of Syria were divided into many different denominations, such as Monophysites, Jacobites and Nestorians. Almost all of them were facing severe persecution at the hands of the ruling Byzantine Church. The Christians of Syria preferred the Muslim rule over the oppressive Byzantines, as the Muslims had brought justice and good governance. After the Muslims defeated the Byzantine army and returned to Syria, they were welcomed back as heroes. Dionysius of Tel-Mahre, a Jacobite patriarch from 818 to 845 CE, confirms this: *So the Arabs left Damascus and pitched camp by the river Yarmuk. As the Romans marched towards the Arab camp every city and village on their way which had surrendered to the Arabs shouted threats at them. As for crimes the Romans committed on their passage, they are unspeakable, and their unseemliness ought not even to be brought to mind…The Arabs returned, elated with their great victory, to Damascus; and the Damascenes greeted them outside the city and welcomed them joyfully in, and all treaties and assurances were reaffirmed.* *- Dionysius of Tel-Mahre, The Seventh Century in the West-Syrian Chronicles, Liverpool, 1993, p. 157* One cannot imagine the conquered welcoming the conqueror “joyfully”. Yet it happened in Syria once upon a time. Some early Christian scholars also attributed the rise of Islam to God and linked it to Biblical prophecy. John Bar Penkaye, a 7th century Christian monk and contemporary of early Islamic conquests, wrote: *When the kingdom of the Persians came to an end, in the days of their king Khosrow, the kingdom of the children of Hagar at once gained control over more or less the whole world, for they took the whole kingdom of Persians, overthrowing all their warriors who prided themselves in the arts of war. We should not think of the advent (of the children of Hagar) as someone ordinary, but as due to divine working. Before calling them, God had prepared them beforehand to hold Christians in honour; thus they also had a special commandment from God concerning our monastic station, that they should hold it in honour. Now when these people came, at God's command, and took over as it were both kingdoms, not with any war or battle, but in a menial fashion, such as when a brand is rescued out of the fire, not using weapons of war or human means, God put victory into their hands in such a way that the words written might be fulfilled, namely, "one man chased a thousand and two routed ten thousand". How otherwise, could naked men, riding without armor or shield, have been able to win, apart from divine aid, God having called them from the ends of the earth so as to destroy, by them "a sinful kingdom" and to bring low, through them, the proud spirit of the Persians.* *- John Bar Penkaye, quoted by Walter E. Kaegi, Byzantium and the Early Islamic Conquest, Cambridge, 2000, p. 216* Here John Bar Penkaye has cited the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy as a prophecy fulfilled by Muslims: *How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? [Deuteronomy 32:30]*
@@majeedm689 Under the rule of the Roman Empire, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which is the holiest site in Judaism, had been left in ruin and was even turned into a rubbish dump. The Romans would discard menstrual cloths and all kinds of filth at the site of the temple. This was as a result of prevailing attitudes in the Church towards Judaism. For the Church Fathers, the separation of the Jews from Jerusalem and the obliteration of any remnant of their Temple was seen as a divine retribution. For example, the 4th century Church Father Jerome (342-420) wrote of his satisfaction at the disappearance of the Jews who were considered the enemies of Christianity: *Until this very day, those hypocritical tenants are forbidden to come to Jerusalem, because of the murder of the prophets and the last of them: the Son of God, unless they come to weep, for then they are given permission to lament over the ruins of the city in exchange for a payment. Just as they purchased the blood of the Messiah, now they are purchasing their own tears; therefore, even the lamentation is not given them for naught.* *- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine 634-1099, p. 69* This was until the Muslim army led by Umar bin Al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam, liberated the Holy Land from the Roman occupation. The 10th century Jewish polemicist and writer Salmon Ben Yeruhim comments: *As we know, the Temple remained in the hands of the Romans for more than 500 years and the Jews did not succeed in entering Jerusalem; and anyone who did and was recognised was put to death. But when the Romans left it, by the mercy of the God of Israel, the kingdom of Ishmael was victorious, Israel was permitted to come and to live.* *- Salmon Ben Yeruhim, see manuscript from the Firkovitch collection, II, No. 1345* For both Jewish and Christian inhabitants of the Holy Land, Islamic rule signalled the age of tolerance. It became a historical age where people of different beliefs lived in peace and harmony in Jerusalem. The leading biblical scholar Michael Coogan writes: *“Caliph Umar’s forces would neither massacre its inhabitants nor destroy the religious monuments of the vanquished”.* *- Michael D Coogan, The Oxford History of the Biblical World, 2003, p. 443* The 9th century patriarch Theodosius of Jerusalem wrote with regard to the Muslim treatment of Christians: *“The Saracens [i.e. the Muslims] show us great goodwill. They allow us to build our churches and to observe our own customs without hindrance”.* *- Christopher J. Walker, Islam and the West, p. 17* Under Muslim rule, the Jewish holy sites were restored. A Jewish chronicle of the time describes how the cleaning of the Temple Mount proceeded under the watchful eye of the Caliph Umar: *Taking part were all the Muslims in the city and in the district and participating with them were a group of Jews; afterwards they were ordered to evacuate the rubbish from the sanctuary and to clean it; and Umar watched them all the time. Whenever a remnant was revealed, he would ask the elders of the Jews about the rock, and one of the sages would mark out the boundaries of the place, until it was uncovered.* *- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine, 634-1099, p. 71* Moreover the Jewish people were welcomed back into Jerusalem and lived in peace along with their Arab brethren. Daniel al-Qumusi, an eminent 9th century Jewish scholar, wrote the following: *For before he came they could not come to Jerusalem; and they would come from the four corners of the earth to Tiberias and Gaza to see the Temple; but now with his coming he brought them to Jerusalem and gave them place and many of the Israelites settled there; and afterwards people came from four corners of the earth to Jerusalem to preach and pray.* *- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine, 634-1099, p. 69* There is even a writing known as Secrets of Rabbi Simon ben Yohai, a Jewish apocalypse of the 8th century which presents a Judaic messianic interpretation of the advent of Islam. It contains a positive endorsement of the mission of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and an affirmation of the divinely mandated role of the Arabs in saving the Jewish people from persecution: *When he saw the kingdom of Ishmael that was coming, he began to say: ‘Was it not enough, what the wicked kingdom of Edom did to us, but we must have the kingdom of Ishmael too?’ At once Metatron the prince of the countenance answered and said: ‘Do not fear, son of man, for the Holy One, blessed be He, only brings the kingdom of Ishmael in order to save you from this wickedness. He raises up over them a prophet according to his will and will conquer the land for them and they will come and restore it in greatness, and there will be great terror between them and the sons of Esau.’ Rabbi Simon answered and said: ‘How do we know that they are our salvation?’ He answered: ‘Did not the Prophet Isaiah say thus: “And he saw a troop with a pair of horsemen,* *- John C. Reeve, Trajectories in Near Eastern Apocalyptic: A Post Rabbinic Jewish Apocalypse, pp. 10 - 11* These statements provide a fascinating insight into an 8th century Rabbinic understanding of the Muslim conquests. What this demonstrate is that early Jewish scholars were open to the idea of a Prophet emerging from among the Arabs, and we can see that some even interpreted sections of Isaiah as prophecies that have been fulfilled by the arrival of Prophet Muhammad.
I believe that AlMighty Allah strengthened Islam with Paul Williams acceptance of Islam . That's a great gift from Allah to you Paul, i.e. using you to empower Islam in this time and age, be thankful for it .
This is similar at the time of the call to Islam during the time of our Prophet Muhammad..... Khalid bin Al-Waleed, Amr bin Al-Aas, Omar bin Al-Khattab, Hind bint Utbah and Sufyan bin Umayya were among the fiercest haters of Islam and were among the most prominent enemies of Islam. And they wished that the Muslims would perish at that time. After that, God guided them to Islam and God made them Muslims, subject to God, the God of Ishmael, and defenders of the doctrine of monotheism and fighting idols. And they created the largest empires in history.
Thank you, Paul. So important to understand and celebrate our Islamic history. It's always exciting to see coins, manuscripts and physical evidences from our rich heritage. Adnan's youtube channel featuring Islamic history 'bites' are very enjoyable as well!

As a muslim I will never ask such questions as the Quran was delivered to Him (Pbuh). The Holy Quran contains various miraculous facts, even those of proven scientific. Such is sufficient for my logical mind.
Es selamun aleykum, brother, Thank you very much and Jazakallahu Khairan kesiran for this amazing discussion which is very much needed at the moment, because of the fitnah that we are facing now, so many uneducated people turn away from the religion by denying authentic Hadith literature all together, the deniers are mostly the ones who haven't read the Qur'an in their native language cover to cover even once, do not know anything about the Hadith, narration chains, they just follow the fancies and whims by rejecting everything from Hadith. I never get tired or bored listening to these knowledgeable people. Brother Adnan and Brother Paul are really so knowledgeable. May Allah increase their knowledge to give dawah.
For decades we have beat beaten down with discouraging remarks about Islam. Written out of history, mocked for being backward, constant negative comments, white saviour complex. Even though we knew in our hearts how true Islam is and how history was biased , for many of us it was difficult to stand strong and firm in our responses. First generation migrants just needed to fit in and survive the traumas of the past and the racist present. So we either meekly hid away or , conformed to western thinking. There were always the string vocal Muslims but they were few and far between Now people like Paul and Adnan and so so many wonderful scholars, imaams, educated reverts and the children of the first generation migrants..are building the ummah up again. Can feel the chest puffing up again I. Confidence and pride in Islam JazakAllahKhair Paul for bringing all this information to us. May Allah bless your every day and night with goodness and increasing faith .
Isn't it strange that Islam requires people like Paul and Adnan to build it up again? Do either of them come anywhere close to what Muhammed was allegedly trying to establish?
@@majeedm689 Who said that Islam "requires" anything? Islamic faith belongs to no one and everyone at the same time. It's not an "Arab thing", and the faith has been renewed every couple of generations by diverse ethnic groups. See Turks, Mughals, Persians, Moors etc. We are now seeing a blossoming of Islamic consciousness in the West, much as the haters may hate.
@@paghal11 You're confusing monotheism with Islam. Islam is full unconditional submission to Allah and Muhammad. In fact Muhammad is co-equal to Allah, and to illustrate my point I'll turn to Quran. Quran 48: 9 That you may believe in Allah and His Messenger and (may) honor him and respect him and *glorify* (tusabbihuhu) him morning and evening. Quran 82:19 What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? [It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being nafsun linafsin): for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone. Repeated in 2:48, 6:51, 32:4, 39:43 Quran 4: 64-65 And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah . And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah AND the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful. But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muḥammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission. Quran 33: 36 It is not for a believing man or woman-when Allah *AND* His Messenger decree a matter-to have any other choice in that matter. Indeed, whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has clearly gone ˹far˺ astray. Quran 4: 80 He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allāh; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian. Quran 8 :20 O you who believe! Obey Allah *AND* His Messenger. And (do) not turn away from (anhu) him (Muhammad or Allah?) while you hear. Quran 3 :31 Say: 'If you love Allah, *FOLLOW ME*, and Allah will love you, and forgive you your sins; Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.' 3:31 Quran 24 :56 Perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and *obey the Messenger* - perhaps you will find mercy. Quran 8 :24 O you who have believed, respond to Allah AND to the Messenger when he (Allah or Muhammad?) calls you (da’akum) to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered. Narrated 'Imran bin Husain: The Prophet said, "Some people will be taken out of the Fire through the intercession of Muhammad they will enter Paradise and will be called Al-Jahannamiyin (the Hell Fire people)." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 571 Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet said: My intercession will be for those of my people who have committed major sins. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 40, Number 472) So according to Quran Muhammad is the intercessor for your salvation like Jesus is for Christians. If I want to be a monotheist without accepting Islam or following Muhammad will I go to jannah like those monotheists before Islam?
What a sheer delight! Jazak-Allah-Khair dear Paul for this discussion. We are learning a lot from these talks. May Allah give you reward for these efforts.

I tend to agree with you. I believe that Muhammed did exist but my problem is understanding who he was. The same problem with Jesus. I believe Jesus did exist but what was His identity? Was Jesus really sent by God the Father to show us God's Love? If so, how can we refuse such a love? Peace to you from Florida
I am also an Arab and a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad……The Abbasid Caliphate was established by the invitation of the Al-Rida family from the family of Muhammad, and the emergence of the Abbasid revolution was due to the oppression of the Umayyad kings against Banu Hashim and the killing of the grandchildren of the Messenger of God………. .. And when the Abbasids were in the city of Maru in Khorasan, they took the black flag as their emblem, because the Prophet Muhammad had handed over the black banner to their grandfather Al-Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib, and because it was the flag of the prophetic state in Medina… the Arabs, especially those who belong to the descendants of Abdullah Ibn al-Abbas and the offspring of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, when they hear that there are people who deny the existence of the Prophet Muhammad and who express him as a legend, will fall into a fit of laughter and hysteria because of the stupidity of these people.

please iam begging and advising brother Rasheed to write a book titled "Prophet Muhammad did really exist" to be a rejoinder to Spencer.I watched this video late, but iam very lucky to to come across it.
Just one proof that Muhammad PBUH exist, is to go and visit him at Madhina, his grave was there and say something good to him... if you are lucky, you can meet him in your night dream....

@bloggingtheology Your work is great on Did Muhammad ever exist? However it should rather begin with trying to decode if Muhammad is even a noun as mentioned in the Qoran? The word Muhammad has always appeared as a coumpunded word i.e. Muhammadur or Muhammadiyun which simply means "belonging to praiseworthy and the entire translation of the Shahad for example would be There is no god except Allah and belonging to praiseworthy are His messengers (Rasools). For instance: Muhammad means prasieworthy Dur means belonging to. Qoran never mentions the word bashar/man in conjunction to Muhammad in an ayat/verse. It has mentioned the word Bashar as an attribution to a person who are chosen as Rasools/ Messengers earlier and the ones who might come later by name 25 of them as mentioned in Qoran. Bashar in Qoran: Surah Al-Kahf (18:110): "Say, 'I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.'" Surah Al-Isra (17:93): "Say, 'Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?'" The Quran does not explicitly refer to the Prophet Muhammad as "bashar" (meaning "human" or "mortal") in those specific terms. So, if you really love your work on Muhammad exist you rather try to find out the name of the person so called born in mecca to Abdullah and Amnaah who later married a widow etc. Who is this man? What was his name? How conveniently, we all agreed to call him Muhammad. Even the Surah Muhammad is simply an adjective unless of course see it under the influence of islamic traditions, we wouldn't see a name or noun in it. The Surah Muhammad, simply talks about about Rasool (s) . The earliest attempt to document his biograohy occured in 8th century...by Ibn Ishaq and Hisham..base don their work the entire cannons of Hadith were writted later...how reliable could they be? Point is: If there ever was a man, who declared himself as a prophet with divine revelaitons at his disposal, ready for dictation to his people. We don't know his name.
If you want to prove that Allah swt & Prophet Muhammad SAW are true, then we just have to look at the Quran (words of Allah) and the Sunnah (wisdom of Allah) which was conveyed through Prophet Muhammad SAW to all mankind until the Day of Judgment which is a message and guidance for life. (also miracles & inheritance) that must be known, understood & practiced in our daily lives. Because on the Day of Judgment before the destruction of the earth and the universe, that's where the Quran will be lifted and removed from the Koran text reading books and from the memory of the human mind, so that no one else knows and practices the teachings of Islam.
That said, there are no historical critical scholars that I know of who accept the standard islamic narrative (minus as you would have it have it a few minor points) and Robert Hoyland has certainly never argued this.
Some Jews distort the meaning of [revealed] words: they say, ‘We hear and disobey,’ and ‘Listen,’ [adding the insult] ‘May you not hear,’ and ‘Raina [Look at us],’ twisting it abusively with their tongues so as to disparage religion. If they had said, ‘We hear and obey,’ ‘Listen,’ and ‘Unzurna [Look at us],’ that would have been better and more proper for them. But God has spurned them for their defiance; they believe very little.
Can someone help clarify for me the Blackstone reference, I wasn't able to find the original reference but from others quoting blackstone it would seem the age of consent was 12 for girls and 14 for boys but arranged marriages were legal from a young age but I'm assuming these were more a kin to betrovals for political alliances that were not consummated to a later age. From what I understand a marriage can't be dissolved if it had been consummated.
Please help me find a hadith if it’s authentic or not. Abu Daawood (4727) narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abdillah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “I have been given permission to speak of one of the angels of Allah, one of the bearers of the Throne. The distance between his earlobe and his shoulder is like the distance of seven hundred year’s travel.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Daawood. I know this hadith is authentic But there is a similar hadith that mentions bird. “The distance between his earlobe and his shoulder is like a bird flying for seven hundred year” Is the Hadith that mentions the bird authentic?

Historical evidence for the existence of Prophet Muhammad:
(1) The Doctrina Jacobi Nuper Baptizati is a 7th century work by a Christian written in 634 CE, only two years after the Prophet passed away.
In this dialogue between a Christian and some Jews, the author reveals the appearance of a new Prophet among the Saracens (Arabs):
*When the candidatus was killed by the Saracens, I was at Caesarea and I set off by boat to Sykamina. People were saying "the candidatus has been killed," and we Jews were overjoyed. And they were saying that the prophet had appeared, coming with the Saracens, and that he was proclaiming the advent of the anointed one, the Christ who was to come.*
*- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 57*
(2) Chronicle of 640 CE by a Syriac Orthodox priest Thomas the Presbyter records the battle of Dathin between the Romans and the Arabs and it mentions Prophet Muhammad by name:
*On Friday, 4 February, at the ninth hour, there was a battle between the Romans and the Arabs of Muhammad in Palestine twelve miles east of Gaza...*
*- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 119*
(3) Khuzistan Chronicle is a short 7th century Nestorian chronicle which gives a brief account of the Muslim invasion of Persia and mentions that they were under the leadership of Muhammad:
*Then God raised up against them the sons of Ishmael, numerous as the sand on the sea shore, whose leader was Muhammad. Neither walls nor gates, armor or shield, withstood them, and they gained control over the entire land of Persians.*
*- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 186*
(4) One of the most interesting 7th century accounts about Prophet Muhammad comes from Sebeos who was a Bishop of the House of Bagratunis.
Sebeos is the first non-Muslim author to present us with a theory for the rise of Islam that pays attention to what the Muslims themselves thought they were doing:
*At that time a certain man from along those same sons of Ishmael, whose name was Muhammad, a merchant, as if by God's command appeared to them as a preacher and the path of truth. No one will be able to resist you in battle, because God is with you.*
*- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 129*
We can see that Sebeos knows plenty of personal information about Prophet Muhammad.
Also a poem made by chinese emperor about the prophethood of nabi Muhammad (pbuh)
Thomas the Presbyter, Chronicle, pp. 147-148
@@majeedm689
You are correct.
Dionysius of Tel-Mahre, a Jacobite patriarch from 818 to 845 CE, confirms this:
*So the Arabs left Damascus and pitched camp by the river Yarmuk. As the Romans marched towards the Arab camp every city and village on their way which had surrendered to the Arabs shouted threats at them. As for crimes the Romans committed on their passage, they are unspeakable, and their unseemliness ought not even to be brought to mind…The Arabs returned, elated with their great victory, to Damascus; and the Damascenes greeted them outside the city and welcomed them joyfully in, and all treaties and assurances were reaffirmed.*
*- Dionysius of Tel-Mahre, The Seventh Century in the West-Syrian Chronicles, Liverpool, 1993, p. 157*
One cannot imagine the conquered welcoming the conqueror “joyfully”. Yet it happened in Syria once upon a time.
Some early Christian scholars also attributed the rise of Islam to God and linked it to Biblical prophecy. John Bar Penkaye, a 7th century Christian monk and contemporary of early Islamic conquests, wrote:
*When the kingdom of the Persians came to an end, in the days of their king Khosrow, the kingdom of the children of Hagar at once gained control over more or less the whole world, for they took the whole kingdom of Persians, overthrowing all their warriors who prided themselves in the arts of war. How otherwise, could naked men, riding without armor or shield, have been able to win, apart from divine aid, God having called them from the ends of the earth so as to destroy, by them "a sinful kingdom" and to bring low, through them, the proud spirit of the Persians.*
*- John Bar Penkaye, quoted by Walter E. Kaegi, Byzantium and the Early Islamic Conquest, Cambridge, 2000, p. 216*
Here John Bar Penkaye has cited the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy as a prophecy fulfilled by Muslims:
*How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? [Deuteronomy 32:30]*

Under the rule of the Roman Empire, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which is the holiest site in Judaism, had been left in ruin and was even turned into a rubbish dump.
For example, the 4th century Church Father Jerome (342-420) wrote of his satisfaction at the disappearance of the Jews who were considered the enemies of Christianity:
*Until this very day, those hypocritical tenants are forbidden to come to Jerusalem, because of the murder of the prophets and the last of them: the Son of God, unless they come to weep, for then they are given permission to lament over the ruins of the city in exchange for a payment. Just as they purchased the blood of the Messiah, now they are purchasing their own tears; therefore, even the lamentation is not given them for naught.*
*- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine 634-1099, p. 69*
This was until the Muslim army led by Umar bin Al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam, liberated the Holy Land from the Roman occupation.
The 10th century Jewish polemicist and writer Salmon Ben Yeruhim comments:
*As we know, the Temple remained in the hands of the Romans for more than 500 years and the Jews did not succeed in entering Jerusalem; and anyone who did and was recognised was put to death. But when the Romans left it, by the mercy of the God of Israel, the kingdom of Ishmael was victorious, Israel was permitted to come and to live.*
*- Salmon Ben Yeruhim, see manuscript from the Firkovitch collection, II, No. 1345*
For both Jewish and Christian inhabitants of the Holy Land, Islamic rule signalled the age of tolerance. It became a historical age where people of different beliefs lived in peace and harmony in Jerusalem.
The leading biblical scholar Michael Coogan writes:
*“Caliph Umar’s forces would neither massacre its inhabitants nor destroy the religious monuments of the vanquished”.*
*- Michael D Coogan, The Oxford History of the Biblical World, 2003, p. 443*
The 9th century patriarch Theodosius of Jerusalem wrote with regard to the Muslim treatment of Christians:
*“The Saracens [i.e. the Muslims] show us great goodwill. They allow us to build our churches and to observe our own customs without hindrance”.*
*- Christopher J. Walker, Islam and the West, p. 17*
Under Muslim rule, the Jewish holy sites were restored. A Jewish chronicle of the time describes how the cleaning of the Temple Mount proceeded under the watchful eye of the Caliph Umar:
*Taking part were all the Muslims in the city and in the district and participating with them were a group of Jews; afterwards they were ordered to evacuate the rubbish from the sanctuary and to clean it; and Umar watched them all the time. Whenever a remnant was revealed, he would ask the elders of the Jews about the rock, and one of the sages would mark out the boundaries of the place, until it was uncovered.*
*- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine, 634-1099, p. 71*
Moreover the Jewish people were welcomed back into Jerusalem and lived in peace along with their Arab brethren. Daniel al-Qumusi, an eminent 9th century Jewish scholar, wrote the following:
*For before he came they could not come to Jerusalem; and they would come from the four corners of the earth to Tiberias and Gaza to see the Temple; but now with his coming he brought them to Jerusalem and gave them place and many of the Israelites settled there; and afterwards people came from four corners of the earth to Jerusalem to preach and pray.*
*- Moshe Gil, A History of Palestine, 634-1099, p. 69*
There is even a writing known as Secrets of Rabbi Simon ben Yohai, a Jewish apocalypse of the 8th century which presents a Judaic messianic interpretation of the advent of Islam.
It contains a positive endorsement of the mission of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and an affirmation of the divinely mandated role of the Arabs in saving the Jewish people from persecution:
*When he saw the kingdom of Ishmael that was coming, he began to say: ‘Was it not enough, what the wicked kingdom of Edom did to us, but we must have the kingdom of Ishmael too?’ At once Metatron the prince of the countenance answered and said: ‘Do not fear, son of man, for the Holy One, blessed be He, only brings the kingdom of Ishmael in order to save you from this wickedness. He raises up over them a prophet according to his will and will conquer the land for them and they will come and restore it in greatness, and there will be great terror between them and the sons of Esau.’ Rabbi Simon answered and said: ‘How do we know that they are our salvation?’ He answered: ‘Did not the Prophet Isaiah say thus: “And he saw a troop with a pair of horsemen,*
*- John C. Reeve, Trajectories in Near Eastern Apocalyptic: A Post Rabbinic Jewish Apocalypse, pp. 10 - 11*
These statements provide a fascinating insight into an 8th century Rabbinic understanding of the Muslim conquests.
What this demonstrate is that early Jewish scholars were open to the idea of a Prophet emerging from among the Arabs, and we can see that some even interpreted sections of Isaiah as prophecies that have been fulfilled by the arrival of Prophet Muhammad.

Many thanks for your efforts brother Paul
Astounding interview. So many insights. Maa shaa Allah.
Alhamdullilah for Islam
Mr. Williams, thank you so much for the fantastic work. We truly appreciate you and the efforts you've been consistently making. May Allah reward you and Mr. Rasheed abundantly. 🌻🌻🌻
May Allah bless you, I hope that this video can be translated in other languages for the benefit of the whole Muslim community around the world. I am Turkish, I really would like to see that your precious work will be translated into Turkish one day inshaAllah, Love your work, Love you for the sake of Allah,
May Allah preserve you brother, May Allah give you strength to continue doing what you are doing, Ameen🤲
I never get tired or bored listening to these knowledgeable people. Brother Adnan and Brother Paul are really so knowledgeable. May Allah increase their knowledge to give dawah.
Literally 1h ago I have been discusing with a friend the existence of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and UA-cam recommended me this video. Alhamdullilah.
Excellent!
Thank you Paul for bringing Adnan on your channel sharing/spreading knowledge.
JazakAllah
Thank you brother Paul. Another excellent video.
There were always the string vocal Muslims but they were few and far between
Now people like Paul and Adnan and so so many wonderful scholars, imaams, educated reverts and the children of the first generation migrants..are building the ummah up again.
Can feel the chest puffing up again I. Confidence and pride in Islam
JazakAllahKhair Paul for bringing all this information to us. May Allah bless your every day and night with goodness and increasing faith .
👍👍👍🌙🌼🌿🌸🍂🥀🌺🌹🌷💐 mashallah.
@@paghal11
You're confusing monotheism with Islam.
Islam is full unconditional submission to Allah and Muhammad. In fact Muhammad is co-equal to Allah, and to illustrate my point I'll turn to Quran.
Quran 48: 9
That you may believe in Allah and His Messenger and (may) honor him and respect him and *glorify* (tusabbihuhu) him morning and evening.
Quran 82:19
What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? [It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being nafsun linafsin): for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone. Repeated in 2:48, 6:51, 32:4, 39:43
Quran 4: 64-65
And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah .
Quran 33: 36
It is not for a believing man or woman-when Allah *AND* His Messenger decree a matter-to have any other choice in that matter. Indeed, whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has clearly gone ˹far˺ astray.
Quran 4: 80
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allāh; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.
Quran 8 :20
O you who believe! Obey Allah *AND* His Messenger. And (do) not turn away from (anhu) him (Muhammad or Allah?) while you hear.
Quran 3 :31
Say: 'If you love Allah, *FOLLOW ME*, and Allah will love you, and forgive you your sins; Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.' 3:31
Quran 24 :56
Perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and *obey the Messenger* - perhaps you will find mercy.
Quran 8 :24
O you who have believed, respond to Allah AND to the Messenger when he (Allah or Muhammad?) calls you (da’akum) to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.
Narrated 'Imran bin Husain: The Prophet said, "Some people will be taken out of the Fire through the intercession of Muhammad they will enter Paradise and will be called Al-Jahannamiyin (the Hell Fire people)."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 571
Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet said: My intercession will be for those of my people who have committed major sins.
(Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 40, Number 472)
So according to Quran Muhammad is the intercessor for your salvation like Jesus is for Christians.
If I want to be a monotheist without accepting Islam or following Muhammad will I go to jannah like those monotheists before Islam?
@@majeedm689 I fail to see a single verse in the several you have quoted that ascribes any whiff of divinity whatsoever to the Prophet.
What a sheer delight!
Jazak-Allah-Khair dear Paul for this discussion.
We are learning a lot from these talks.
May Allah give you reward for these efforts.
Wonderful discussion. Hitherto the best one that I have seen on this channel. I sincerely and deeply thank you, Mr. Williams, for introducing me to such a wonderful scholar. Mr. Rashid and you taught me so many new things in just one video and propelled my ever-increasing interest in early Islamic history even further. Moreover, I got to know of many books from reputable academics, which I have noted down for future reading, Insha Allah. I highly commend you for your already deep knowledge and your quest for even more, and for engaging with noted intellectuals and academics on a variety of very important and sensitive topics in Islam in a highly engaging manner, Mr. Williams.
Always a pleasure to see Adnan Rashid on your channel. You guys have great chemistry.

I can deny the existence of SUN and MOON but I am more than 100% certain Muhammad PBUH was Real Historical Person with His Living Miracle of Qur'an still being recited all over the world. Today over 15 million Muslims have memorized it word for word.
You deny sun and the moon but believe an illusion that you have not seen ..typical followers of mohammed ...notcsure what they smoke ...
He 100% existed and was a real historical figure, the only people who deny he existed are the anti Islam incels who have clear agendas
Denying Muhammad (pbuh) doesn't upset me at all, it just makes me half laugh and half roll my eyes
Dzhazak Allahu Khair, brothers! May Allah (SWT) reward you both for what you do to educate us! 🤲
sure everyone on earth is lying and deceiving according to some incels on youtube. how many subscribes rob christian has 42k? isn't the amount of people that subscribe to any conspiracy theory
Thanks!
Many thanks Ahmed!
Very informative video. What I am wondering is about the absurdities that we are forced to answer. But this will make our standing clear on issues, usually perceived as silly. This shows how desperate or driven the islamophobes have become.
If we say Prophet Muhammad SAW didn't exist we have to question did any Prophet or Messenger exist..
I tend to agree with you. I believe that Muhammed did exist but my problem is understanding who he was. The same problem with Jesus. I believe Jesus did exist but what was His identity? Was Jesus really sent by God the Father to show us God's Love? If so, how can we refuse such a love?
Peace to you from Florida

there are thousands of ppls who are descendents of prophet muhammad pbuh. and we have family trees that connect with him pbuh,
I am also an Arab and a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad……The Abbasid Caliphate was established by the invitation of the Al-Rida family from the family of Muhammad, and the emergence of the Abbasid revolution was due to the oppression of the Umayyad kings against Banu Hashim and the killing of the grandchildren of the Messenger of God……….

A Chinese traveler visited Parsia and adjacent part of Arabia in 640 AD -644 AD. He wrote in his travel book that , Local War Lords were supporting king Muayiua (Amir O Momins) who was ruling Arabia and Parsia. Those people were meat eaters and worship a Prophet With Sword ( no name is mentioned) God (Allah) gave Sword to their prophet who never lost any war ,when fighting with the said Sword. Brother learn about Islam ,get conviction (you will be convinced inshallah) and then travel to Haram(Makkah) for Hajj pilgrimage. There is nothing like that experience.
Malcom X became a Muslim before. But when he performed Hajj he redid his conversion (read about it) this is the best way and you will have nothing to lose but a lot to gain
Malcom X on Hajj:
"There were tens of thousands of pilgrims, from all over the world. They were of all colors, from blue-eyed blondes to black-skinned Africans. But we were all participating in the same ritual, displaying a spirit of unity and brotherhood that my experiences in America had led me to believe never could exist between the white and the non-white.
You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But on this pilgrimage, what I have seen, and experienced, has forced me to rearrange much of my thought patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions. This was not too difficult for me. Despite my firm convictions, I have been always a man who tries to face facts, and to accept the reality of life as new experience and new knowledge unfolds it. Messenger, do not be grieved by those who race to surpass one another in disbelief- those who say with their mouths, ‘We believe,’ but have no faith in their hearts, and the Jews who listen eagerly to lies and to those who have not even met you, who distort the meanings of [revealed] words and say [to each other], ‘If you are given this ruling, accept it, but if you are not, then beware!’--if God intends some people to be so misguided, you will be powerless against God on their behalf. Your work is great on Did Muhammad ever exist?
However it should rather begin with trying to decode if Muhammad is even a noun as mentioned in the Qoran?
The word Muhammad has always appeared as a coumpunded word i.e. Muhammadur or Muhammadiyun which simply means "belonging to praiseworthy and the entire translation of the Shahad for example would be There is no god except Allah and belonging to praiseworthy are His messengers (Rasools).
For instance:
Muhammad means prasieworthy
Dur means belonging to.
Bashar in Qoran:
Surah Al-Kahf (18:110): "Say, 'I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.'"
Surah Al-Isra (17:93): "Say, 'Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?'"
The Quran does not explicitly refer to the Prophet Muhammad as "bashar" (meaning "human" or "mortal") in those specific terms.
The Surah Muhammad, simply talks about about Rasool (s)
.
The earliest attempt to document his biograohy occured in 8th century...by Ibn Ishaq and Hisham..base don their work the entire cannons of Hadith were writted later...how reliable could they be?
Point is:
If there ever was a man, who declared himself as a prophet with divine revelaitons at his disposal, ready for dictation to his people. We don't know his name.
Rather like criticising the critics.
Doing the same thing they are doing !!!
I would love to see a debate between you and Jay Smith.

The best evidence for the existence of prophet muhammad is his tomb. Which is not lost but located in the heart of his religion. Medina.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

Jazakallah o khair
Please help me find a hadith if it’s authentic or not.
Abu Daawood (4727) narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abdillah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “I have been given permission to speak of one of the angels of Allah, one of the bearers of the Throne. The distance between his earlobe and his shoulder is like the distance of seven hundred year’s travel.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Daawood.
I know this hadith is authentic
But there is a similar hadith that mentions bird.
“The distance between his earlobe and his shoulder is like a bird flying for seven hundred year”
Is the Hadith that mentions the bird authentic?
I think these two statements as very close in meaning. Different words to describe the same thing: The dimension, the size. Salam.
