I bought it too and I love this mower
Thanks for the feedback Die. I agree, great mower still going strong.
Nice Mower, Nice Chicken!
I'm glad you like the them. Thanks for watching!
Hi great video, and i think its answered my dilemma i have had the same mower for nearly seven years and its been great ( used commercially) i was looking to buy another one like you i like a push mower but mine has the Briggs & Stratton 450e engine and i have been trying to find out who makes the EVC 200 engine as i know Stihl don't make their own mower engine. why put a Chinese engine on that one model ! bit gutted got to look at something else now.
No idea, but it's still going strong!
Hi Pouse, what oil do I need for the sump on this mower please. Regards Adrian Hart in Bulgaria.
I used the viking SAE 30 engine oil. Hope that helps.
Hello, I'm considering buying this or the Husqvarna LC 140. Have you had any issues with the Viking MB 248?
How is it holding up after all this time? xelidonia's comment scared me a bit.
Hi there, still going strong. Mine has been great. Really solid and starts no problem every time. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Hi Pouse, I've just found an old MB 248 in a barn where I live in Rural Bulgaria, it started after 3rd go lol it's very old but virtually the same lol, I'm needing to know what engine oil to use ?
One more question, you say it's unleaded, does that mean that it's not a "2 Stroke" ?..... meaning the oil is for a sump just like a petrol engined car ?
Kind Regards, Adrian.
Nice find! Yes fuel is just petrol/unleaded petrol and not a 2 stroke. The oil is for engine lubrication like sum oil as you said. I think it's SAE 30 oil for lawnmowers. Best of luck with it!
Many Many Thanks for rapid reply.
Great review!👍
Thanks!
Little correction, engine is made by 'Loncin' , Chinese manufacturer.
Not sure about that but if you say so. I'm sure mine isn't made in china. Thanks for watching.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE Well, on the sticker of the chassis says 'Made in Austria', but on the block of the engine is stamped 'Loncin'. Loncin is the Chinese manufacturer of the various small engines for many mower brands around the globe. Mower is put together in factory in Austria, with the engine bolted on, as soon as it arrives from China. There's no way around that awkward fact.
@@Marko_Horvat they are briggs and Stratton
I've just bought one, expecting delivery any day now.( They are finished in orange and white now and badged Stihl) and The engine is definitely Briggs and Stratton. I had JD before, good mowers but 1) it needed a new blade brake clutch that part costs nearly £200! and 2) they don't make walk behind mowers any more, so parts might be an issue in the future.
@@Marko_Horvat Thats great info i've been trying to find out who makes that EVC 200 engine all day my old MB 248 had a Briggs engine thats lasted 7 years. i was going to buy a new one Monday not anymore
Can you assist with petrol supply splutters then stop
I had a similar issue and it was simply that the fuel cap wasn't venting the fuel tank. Just needed to loosen the cap
How much engine oil it takes, 0,5L?
It was about that yes. Still running on first load so can't be burning much.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE you should change that oil. First load is a "must change" after first year of use.
Still using it?
Hello! What type and brand of oil is the best for these engines, and how much oil ml is enough for them. Thanks!
I use the viking SAE30 oil. Just check with the manufacturer of your mower. Thanks for watching.
I’m looking at getting the 253 at the moment. Very good value since stihl have done away with the Viking branding now
This one is a great mower, still going strong and I use it a lot. Best of luck with the purchase and thanks for watching.
I bought one 18 months ago, and never again! I had problems from day one and had a hard time starting it until one day it just would not. Took it back to the store where I bought it, where the guy put it a new spark plug and made me pay for it, but once the machine was cold, it would not start. Back at the shop where I had to raise my voice to get some service, they were supposed to fix it in a week, or give me a new one... Right... It took over 2 months, cause supposedly they had to send it to the mainland to get repaire. When it came back, it started OK but the engine kept reving ; I was told it was normal. Of course, am a woman and am supposed to be stupid and buy that. Took it to another store who accepted to take over, had some stuff repaired under the warranty and 50 quids for others stuffs they made me pay for. Worked OK for 2 or 3 months then totally stopped shortly after the warranty expired. Spent another 80 quids, it worked ok but was still reving a bit. After being winterizing it, we had the hardest time starting it and now it's reving like some old car.
It's not even 2 years old! I am giving up on it and on the brand. Gonna get rid of it and get something else, never again Viking. I miss the old beat up and rusted one we had before. It was 10 years old and worked 10 times better.
Sorry to hear that sounds like you've had terrible customer service. To be fair mine is really good and going strong and it gets a fair pasting in the garden. Viking is part of the Stihl group which make excellent equipment in my opinion so this does sound like an unfortunate bit of bad luck. Thanks for your feedback, it's always great to hear other people's views on their tools. Hope you got a new one sorted. Best of luck and thanks for watching.
thank you.
Not surprised, it has a chinese 'Loncin' engine...bought mine 1 week ago, and it's doing the same thing.
@@Marko_Horvat do all the Viking Garden mowers use Loncin engines? I bought a Mb 545 VM yesterday :S.
@@gustaveriksson113 No, yours comes with a Briggs & Stratton engine.
I LS swapped mine
LS? Not sure what that is sorry. Thanks for watching.
@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE its a joke but the ls is a corvette engine
We have a viking mower it is all plastic it is a bad mower too soft
This ones metal and I've given it a battering and still going strong. Thanks for watching.
