Your videos are so beautifully done. From the music, to the chapter breaks, it’s just a classy channel and I thoroughly enjoy your content. Thank you for your work. 🙏
The idea you expressed that resonated the most with me are, crating a zone within your room that makes you happy and will bring you direction for the rest of the room. This will work so well for me as I get so bogged down with the thought of curating the entire room, is there symmetry, is there a proper color pallet, on and one until I can do anything for fear I will mess up or hate the entire room.
I’m so glad I found your channel Becca. You break design down so it makes perfect sense and on top of that you make it fun! I would love to see more tips videos like this :)
Thank you! You are so right to say colours look different on photos. I try to take samples with me or even try to find items in the house that are the same , often among my clothes. I get what you say about focusing on. Particular area, however, I would say keep an eye out for things in general so you don’t limit yourself and miss out on opportunities
Excellent Tips. I've been working on a bedroom re-fresh for months. I needed to try something un-expected. I spray painted a photo mat in Rustic Orange and purchased a runner with a plaid pattern in the same tone. Paired with Navy blue walls, it's a refreshing pop. My style is authentically rustic/vintage/cottage. I do keep a tote bag in my car with paint samples and fabric swatches....be extra!
4:00 I completely agree about colors looking different digitally vs. in person. I use a soft-sided 4x6 mini photo album to carry paint chips, fabric samples, and notes about dimensions, etc. I got mine at the Dollar Tree, so it was super affordable.
Everything you said is so, so true! I never buy decor items from large retailers, there’s so much character in things you’ve picked up when travelling and in thrift stores that give a room it’s own personality.🤎
I LOVE your channel and your videos. I'm a complete design newbie (literally know NOTHING) and you're the design person I've always needed!! Thank you for all your tips and guidance!
Love these ideas! I would also love to see a more in depth, practical look into these, if that's something you'd want to. Like the colour rule, I know it's a broad guideline, but I find myself obsessing over this now - maybe this is why my space feels off? Do neutrals and woodtones count as colours? How do I implement 60% without going crazy on the math? 😅 (yes I'm an ovetthinker...)
Did you see her example? The warm , strongly assertive , orange tone of the wood was definitely a color! That was the 60% on feel of not in actuality. Then the medium, pretty blue which was on a few pieces, the furniture, the accessories. Then white, just a little bit.
Great ideas, I am always excited when you post a video. My question is, in a main living area. Where you can see one room into the next. Do you paint the entire area the same color? It’s hard to know where to stop or start with a color.
It’s your choice! Remember, there is no right or wrong, only, which will you like better? ❤ Try it the way YOU think you’ll like (paint is easier to fix than other choices).
I don't think it has to be the same color. But it has to have colors that go well together. However you would need to frame the opening between the areas in some nice way (if there is no door), because when it's just "one color next to another" it tends to look kinda unfinished. If there's some wooden trim around the doorway or the arch - then go on, pick different colors for the walls.
About having things you like even if there not trending. Growing up in a home whit no curtains i always looked at my friends home and loved the curtains. This was in the 90s so their parents hanged curtains in a way thats not trending now. So in my home authentic is hanging curtains on pole and pocket

I imagine how it will look like when it will be old and a bit messy because that's life!
