I never knew that this small railroad rostered such large locomotives. Once again, I am more interested in the long and short tenders given to these massive engines. Can't wait for the final episode in this series!
Good move posting this episode on the release date of the Polar Express. The 11 in the first 2 digits in their number rhymes with the month of November, and the fact these engines were the pride before the Berkshires were, along with its release month being the month before the month of Christmas.
Couple of nitpicks on this one. One's something you probably wouldn't know unless you're a local--South Lyon is pronounced like the cat, not the city in France. (I'm actually on a first-name basis with the guy at the Detroit area National Weather Service station who handles the local pronunciations for the Weather Radio text-to-speech synthesizer, since I use it as ASMR and every time there's an update to the software, it breaks that custom pronunciation, and I'm usually the one who emails him to let him know it needs fixing again.) The other's a bit bigger, though. The kind of coal the Lehigh Valley built its locomotives to run on was ANTHRACITE (note the spelling), and is actually a much *higher* quality coal than the bituminous coal that most US railroads used, having higher heat content per ton. However, this purity also made it harder to burn because you needed much more air to burn it and it had to burn for a longer time before it gave up the heat, requiring the bigger firebox.
2:55 when you said 9000 gallons of water you should’ve put the dragon ball Z Goni saying “IT’S OVER 9000!” And it would’ve been funny if you would’ve done that! Speaking of that, I’m a try to make a clip of it and it will be titled “Engines of The Pete Marquette: The Santa FEs - Principal Dimensions but edited”. And I’m asking permission to use that clip so I will edit it to make more funny. So may I please use the clip from your video to edit so I won’t get a copyright strike?
In 1941 they mad pere marquette #1225, And she will run again in 2017, And 1 more thing, polar express was builted in 2004, And she (polar express) will not run again, Thank you.
Sorry about my lackluster voice quality!
