    I have a white one, which is previous version. I caught countless crappie in spring with this boat. It's fast to setup, super stable and comfortable as you can stand up while fishing. It's easy to paddling. I'm very satisfied with this boat.

    I appreciate the nice job on your review. After researching inflatable fishing boats, I thought the Sea Eagle Foldcat (the big brother to the 285 I guess) would be a nice safe easily transportable boat and safe for wife or granddaughter. When I found a used one for less than half of the new price I just jumped on it and bought it. I have not put it on the water yet and after one-man wrestling with getting it home, setting it up in the yard, and repacking the 125 lbs or so, I'm less enthused. Nearing 70 years old, something half the weight for casual bank fishing seems like maybe a better choice for me. I'll try the FoldCat on the water before changing course but the 285 seems to be about 1/2 the size and weight and may better fit my needs.

      Thanks for the response @baronistheone, yea wrestling with boats and gear is never fun. I can see where unpacking and repacking these inflatable boats can get exhausting, that’s why for my application I always leave it inflated. Thanks again for checking out the channel and for the support, keep it Blue Collar brother!

    Nice review. You clarified and explained several of my questions. I have purchased two boats from Sea Eagle .I must say the people that work there are all about a fine product and customer service.Got a busted part? Its replacement will be on your porch in 2 days.They take care of their customers. I am on my way to buy a 285 now. Thanks.

    Thought I'd share a tip the front flap at the front grab handles the flap on my boat Sat a little low because of the bend I attached a large clip to it and clips to the front storage pouch keeps the flap high secure and straight and greatly reduces water getting in especially when getting on and out have mine now 8 years great tough boat

    I'd replace that seat with a cooler and a cushion. Might add an 8 " plywood deck in the front for a depth finder. Might consider a Honda 2.3 for power.

      Joey, thanks man I hope you enjoy yours too, this thing really shines in very shallow water because it doesn’t sit low at all in the water. And it is very light so it moves pretty quick through the water especially if you had a 55lb thrust trolling motor on it. Good luck with yours man, and thanks for checking out the video.

      Kendrick, I hope you enjoy it when it arrives, the best part of this thing is that it is lightweight and maneuverable in places other boats can’t go, such as water that is less than 6in deep. Good luck!

    Does thing boat move around a lot in lakes? I heard somewhere that pontoons are better for moving water.

    • @jessemrieg7317
      @jessemrieg7317 Рік тому +1

      Pontoons move the best on any water. If a lake is super windy it can get slow. But average conditions they do much better than ANY other craft.

    How much does it cost? Does the battery pack come with the 285 kit? Does a trolling motor come with the assembly or is that separate? Gr8 Review, thanx 4 your input! Ciao

    • @bluecollaroutdoors5556
      @bluecollaroutdoors5556  3 роки тому +1

      Justin,
      You can find these through a quick google search and usually Amazon, and some others will have this fishing boat. I have found the pro model which is what this one is from $899 to $1000 depending on the day. The battery does not come with the kit as far as I know there may be some specials somewhere that might throw one in maybe. This package did come with a 30 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor but the package was around $1200. So to answer you question it really just depends on which kit the retailer is offering at the time of purchase, but all of these components can be bought separately and could probably save you money. Thanks for the question, and keep it Blue Collar!!!

    I fish in the ocean sometimes half mile off shore. Do you think it could handle it?

    • @bluecollaroutdoors5556
      @bluecollaroutdoors5556  2 роки тому

      Curt, to be honest I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking this one off shore as this thing is really light and gets blown around by wind very easily almost like a ballon sitting on the water. Hope this helps man!

    Sweet boat. I just ordered the Sea Eagle 285 pro edition. I have a question I hope you'll be so kind to answer. The sea eagle website says the carry bag that everything comes in is 85" long x 63" wide carry bag. That seems massive to carry a deflated boat, oars, flooring and accessories. Is the carry bag really that long and wide, or is the dimensions a missprint on their website for the carry bag?

    • @bluecollaroutdoors5556
      @bluecollaroutdoors5556  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the question Robyn, I’m pretty sure that is a misprint the bag is pretty small actually and is fairly easy to carry. Yea I’m pretty sure that is close to the dimensions of the actual boat. I hope this helps!

    The rule of thumb; If it does not have a built in transom it is a raft, not a boat! Sorry guys.

    What happens when the trolling motor inevitably hits the boat? If it can happen, it will in time. Will it puncture it?

    MY boat came with a leaking rear bladder. They told me oh just patch it even though there is no way to get at the rear bladder. nice boat if it did not leak but Sea Eagle flat out sucks !😡

      There are no bladders in the boat. The exterior is the bladder. Find the leak and patch it.

    What do you use for a battery

    • @bluecollaroutdoors5556
      @bluecollaroutdoors5556  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the question Redbone99, I just use a cheap everstart 12v deep cycle marine battery from Walmart, I use the 24G size which fits right inside of the Minn Kota power center box. You can always run it without the power center as well, just be aware that you wouldn’t have a circuit breaker in the event you get the trolling motor hung up, it could burn up the motor.

      @@bluecollaroutdoors5556 thanks for the reply. I have the minn Kota power box and I just bought the sea eagle 285 and minn Kota 30lb thrust trolling motor. Just looking for a decent inexpensive battery that doesn’t way a ton

      So the battery I just mentioned does weigh 45 lbs which is a lot but gives you a longer run time. I have seen people run the smaller rechargeable 12 v batteries that usually are made for powering fish finders and transducers. These are about the same price but weigh nearly nothing, but they will not last long without recharging. There are some diy projects out there there use solar power to recharge them while on the water so that could be another option. Hope this helps!

      Lithium 12V size 27 just barely fits power box, but is only 23lbs. Will take this boat about 12 miles on a charge. Battery is about $350 minimum, but well worth it!
