That of stepping on the accelerator and the brake at the same time, that will be the case of automatic Ford Focus, my question is, in the case of a Manual car how it will be.?
Thank You! Just got the same message and my first thought was the particle sensor... but the engine failure error comes from change oil message, so after 1 month without reset that message the new one pop-up...
Thanks for this video, i knew that would reset the "Service Oil" message but didn't know it does the Engine one as well! i just that warning today after reverse parking (service oil then engine) will try the reset and change oil next week!
This procedure works for a ford galaxy mk2 2005 model. The car does not tell you that it has worked but if you follow the instructions in this video it will work. Cheers!
This is great thank you. The oil service message came on, 2008 Mondeo(despite me changing the oil)followed by engine malfunction message and yellow exclamation light. Followed it whilst in the car and worked a treat. Wonder how many garages would have said it needs to be re set on a scan and charged £50 for the pleasure. On a foot note though. The ok button on the steering wheel only temporarily removes the engine malfunction message but leaves the yellow ! light and everytime you turn the ignition on the em message will reappear. This is more permanent (🤞)
I had the same issue. In order to resolve it, I had to replace the problematic glow plugs. In my case, three out of four were completely burnt while the one was not functioning properly. The three burnt ones were not the cause of the issue as they were completely burnt. The one that was not functioning properly had to be replaced. After this, the message was completely gone.
This happened to me yesterday. Ive had service oil light come on everytime i start the car, this started 4 weeks after an MOT. It says get oil fixed before 1k miles. Ive not done 1k miles but the engine malfunction light has come on so its booked in today for an oil filter change and oil change. Hopefully everything goes back to normal afterwards because its only done 34k miles. And its like brand new, although its 2010 plate.
(1.8 Diesel Duratorque TDCI 2008) Hello, and thank you for the video. I had this malfunction for a second time now. Both times happens on a highway and the car looses power, and I have to pull over. After I switch it off, wait a bit, then switch it back on, the problem is gone. I have done computer diagnostic and it always says the turbine valve is the problem. That same valve has already been replaced with a second hand a couple of years ago. From the car service has sent it for repair again, but the guys said it was completely OK and returned it back. After that I had (mostly in cold days) red or yellow engine censor on the dashboard. Then yesterday, the engine malfunction happened again on the highway. I can feel the car is not accelerating the way it was before. Now I know if I go to the car service I will get the same turbine valve mistake. I would replace it with a brand new one if I know it will fix the issue but I am not sure it will. Any suggestions?
Don't have any experience with a turbine valve. But I have had replaced part before and they have still been faulty. If your usual garage is saying its fine it mite be worth either asking them to join you on a test drive although in this current pandemic it mite not be a good idea. Had the message pop up when I went a little too fast on the dual carriageway, pulled over and restarted and it’s gone away, not sure if I should be concerned or if it was just my fast driving
I've been having this issue on an 09 Focus diesel when fully loaded and often up hills. It loses power, but not limp mode, and an engine restart usually fixes it, although sometimes only for a matter of minutes. I don't know if the 2 pedal trick would help as it resets on restart anyway. I've also had the yellow malfunction light but no change in engine performance so all a bit odd. It always happens when in France which is an extra worry.

My dad, owning a 2010 Ford Focus Zetec (manual) could agree considering it has the same thing. His work’s local auto shop estimated its a fuel pump issue, though they replaced it and we still got the same error. He normaly uses the “SET / RESET” button on the side of the blinker stock to remove it while on the move. Its a short but intresting story. Although it removes the chime and panel screen, it doesnt remove the “i” box between the small gauges.
Does this work on a manual ford focus 2009 the work shop says that my car har run out of DPF additive and i have the check engine light for almos 3 weeks and i don't what to do. Pls reply
Nut Job weirdly enough I plugged it in to a code reader deleted the faults and it’s started again. Could that mean that the cars ok now? It’s not showing up anymore faults.
Does not work.. My software seems a bit diffrent. The warning triangle is bigger. I get no response doing this. Was it the first or the second place on the turn of the key??

yes but does it happen again after you have parked car then try to start it again, thats what mine does, like i said the car runs fine, there is another way that i can start car and that is turn the ignition on and off three times with a second in between, that works for me
This happened to me yesterday, but by time I got home it was off, but my car does need brake discs and callipers as it’s seizing up and wheel red hot, many, many things can bring this warning up, people get a fright when they see those words, and rightly so lol
Thats cool but why is showing up in the first place? Like, for me. Its popping up INTERMITTENTLY ever since two nights ago. I drove through a MEDIUM sized puddle and thats when the warning STARTED. It was quite alarming to say the least whilst driving on a busy duel carriageway! Thanks for reading
Hi my friend, Sorry I don't have any experience with the manual version. If someone has please give advice. Hope you are able to get it sorted. Good luck.
But doesn’t this just turn off the pop-up, not fixing the issue? What if the pop-up is there for a reason indicating that something is in-fact wrong? 😳 And are the steps the same in a manual?
Yes you are correct, the reason it comes on is most likely due to an underlying issue if you can find it. Yes it probably does show you this way in the manual, if you have access to one.😉

Any idea what to do with one that has manual gear ? ;-))
Well this couldn't have come at a better time. Our Ford Focus has started doing this. Tonight it came up Engine Malfunction and then Transmission problem. The first time it said Engine Malfunction then switched engine off and on again then it came up with Transmission Fault. Not sure if this will work.
Hi, I my car started doing same. Pls Can u tell me if u have sorted the problem
@@mubeenkaduji2121 The problem disappeared by itself. My Dad had been cleaning the car and we think water must have got in somewhere and messed with the computer/electrics. When it's dried out the problems stopped and haven't reocurred.
@@lornaedgar6861 oh great. Let me try same then. thank you for ur reply
Glad its work on the message. Sorry to hear about the i symbol. Hope you get it resolved. Good luck.
Does this work on a manual ford focus 2009 the work shop says that my car har run out of DPF additive and i have the check engine light for almos 3 weeks and i don't what to do. Pls reply
Is this for manual transmission too?
I don't think so. Bcus mine is manual and tried it but no luck
My car is currently having this problem, but to the point the car won’t start. Will this help in making it start?
I can't guarantee as I've not been in that situation. I can only say it worked for turning of the engine malfunction message. Good luck.
Nut Job weirdly enough I plugged it in to a code reader deleted the faults and it’s started again. Could that mean that the cars ok now? It’s not showing up anymore faults.
Same problem with mine . How's your vehicle right now?
Omg thanks! I was about to sell my car for spares!
Your welcome!
Yes it work thnku love u bro we stuk on motorway very good
Your welcome, drive safe bro.
Does not work.. My software seems a bit diffrent. The warning triangle is bigger. I get no response doing this. Was it the first or the second place on the turn of the key??
Hey man, great videos, I have troubles starting my ford focus estate 1.6 petrol year 2010., italian language and I can't adept to it , so when I start like I keep the key at position two until the red light goes off then I start normally, but when I try to start it right away it won't start, if you have any tip for me I woul be very grateful.
Keep up the good work mate, :)
Hi there. I have the problem as yours, have u find any solutions. Thnx man
@@MohammedJaber1000 Hey man ,yeah I did, since it's LPG with petrol it just needed a regular tune up 💪,working perfectly since

Thank you so much worked for me
Apakah bisa cara itu di lakukan untuk ford focus tahun 2005 2.0cc? Terima kasih atas jawabannya

Thanks friend - Mondeo TDCi Mk4 2008 now reset :)
Your welcome my friend!
You can turn off the engine malfunction screen turn off when you park the car for long periods.?
Maybe? never tried.
This happened to me yesterday, but by time I got home it was off, but my car does need brake discs and callipers as it’s seizing up and wheel red hot, many, many things can bring this warning up, people get a fright when they see those words, and rightly so lol
Thanks for watching. Better get those brakes sorted my friend.
@@nutjob9696 Brakes all done today mate 😊
Is this warning a sign of engine services due or is it an actual engine fault (can I stay driving my car )
Could be, I didn't have much trouble after an oil change. Maybe there some form of sensor in the engine.
Hi thanks for this video it also worked on my 09 manuel kuga.
You welcome.
How do I do this for a manual 2009 focus?
I cant get it to work. Is the method different on manual gear cars?
Hi my friend, Sorry I don't have any experience with the manual version. If someone has please give advice. Hope you are able to get it sorted. Good luck.
Problems starting up,red light flashing clicking in engine doesn’t want to turn off,put new battery in 2010 push button start.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Clicking in the engine sounds like an internal fault.
What if it is a manual. Because i got the same problem
@@nutjob9696 The pop-up showed up once like a week ago and then it just disappeared and everything was normal... then yesterday it showed up twice on one ride and then today I could only start the car after 3 attemps. I’m gonna go get it checked out! - And I meant a manual as in a manual car. I live in Denmark, most of the cars here are manuals, not automatic 😂
@@zerinaimsirovic5419 sorry mate I'm not sure with manual gearboxes. I would try it just using the break and accelerator/gas, but not the clutch. Good luck.
I have ford fokus 2013 benzine i have the same problem I bring it to the ford garage also they can’t fixed 😢 on my car is shoved these after I start the engine not immediately when I stop the engine is not showing only when I drive after 2 min is coming in the screen how can I fix it? Can’t someone help me??? And my car doesn’t have kee like in the video but start, stop
130k mileage, diagnostic all four plugs damaged. Solved !
Well done mate.
Thanks mate, life saver 🙌

Hey, any idea if this is going to reset the BMS as well? Or do you know any procedure to reset the BMS on the focus 2009?
Hello, what is a BMS?. Not sure if it will reset but you could give it a try. Good luck.
omg I'm broke down and it's worked 😜😜 thank you
Your welcome. Hope you get home ok.
Message returns on mine after a few miles and and affects the acceleration of the vehicle.
i have done what you said but after parking up for about an hour while shopping,i get back in car and warning light comes on again so i have to do what you said about 7 or 8 times any idea what it can be
i cant keep doing that everytime can i hey
It could be a number of things. Mine seemed to be an oil change. But yours could be something else. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
Hallo funktioniert das auch bei Handschaltung und start und stop?
Weiß ich nicht! Sie probieren konnen aber wirde ich gas und bremse benützun. Viel glück.
Brilliant, thank you so much
I had the same problem which made me loose power I changed the fuel filter as it hadn't been changed and it fixed it, however 1 year later I get the same message but I haven't lost power or anything, don't know what it is this time.round
Glad you got your car fixed with a new fuel filter. Mine was an oil change. It could be a number of things. Good luck.
@@nutjob9696 thanks for your message, hopefully take it in this week and I'll keep yourself and the viewers updated, maybe someone can benefit from it, many thanks again for uploading and all your info 👍👍👍

Hi....what about engine malfunction on 2008 petrol Ford focus....intermittent fault....it makes a chiming sound and it's written on the dash board engine malfunction. Any help appreciated.
Mine is 2009 ford focus so shouldn't be dissimilar. Give it a go and good luck.
Hi i just bought a ford focus 2012 yesterday and when i was driving home appeared on my screen trasimttion malfunction service now!!!!
We had this happen to us aswell. If you stop the car, turn off the engine for a second or 2. Then turn the engine back on again it may clear it but for how long. We try to get ours fix but even the Ford dealer didn't know how to get it fix. From what I've heard from other people this is a common problem with Ford Focus automatics of the aera. Sorry you are in this predicament.
