Reflektor should honestly be regarded as one of the most important contributions to modern music

How is it one of the most important contributions to modern music?
It was alright but it wasn't amazing.
I still remember when i heard Reflektor for the first time. It was sunday, early morning, i heard it playing from the TV in my parents room, probably 10 years ago.
Reflektor was so fresh, so alive a bit surreal.
It was one of very few pieces of non-electronic music wich i trully loved.
I also remember being on the AF concert in Stockholm, it was 👍👍
I love this band and i always will.

Man this song has a soft spot for me. A few years ago my mother passed away and the ending shot of the husband hugging his wife is such a great way of looking at of me, my dad, and family wanting to give that hug to my mom. She was beautiful. One day I'll see her again and give her that hug. Love you mom
100% how I feel after my Mom passed. This song and ‘Change’ by Big Thief capture that loss so acutely. X

This music video itself hits hard as a first generation immigrant kid, seeing the dad work as hard as they can to provide for his kids to the point of exhaustion. Coming home as a kid from school to see him just passed out on the couch and never contributing much to your childhood memories not because he didn't want to but because he had no time and was too tired to do anything. Seeing the dad roam in his memories in black and white reminiscing about his old home missing it dearly but knowing ultimately it wouldn't be a safe choice to come back but still clinging onto anything from his culture that he can and trying to pass it onto their kids. The kid just wanting to be a part of something looking longingly at the baptism before going to a party not really having much guidance because no one is there to really give it to him. I'm not hispanic but my dad is a armenian and this still is extremely relatable and I cried watching this about two times now, my mom wasn't dead but still she might as well be with how she treated us. This music video was extremely relatable and backed by arcade fire's performance, I love it.

I disagree,it wasn't a masterpiece,far from it. It was a solid enough album but seemed to lose it's way and way too long and laborious to get through. Where do you go after an album like the Suburbs anyway, which was truly a magnificent album with foresight and a deep study of society and humanity.
Glad they've taken their time releasing a new work after Everything Now, another eyebrow raising affair. Hard to see where they'll go now, if there is indeed anywhere else for them to go?
@@letmetellyousomething123 The Suburbs is much worse than Reflektor. But that’s just my opinion. On a song by song basis, Reflektor has less filler tracks and in my opinion is more enjoyable from front to back.
The Suburbs is their best work, next to their debut. Reflektor has some great songs but it feels like a weird kind of puzzle, the style of the songs don't really fit together, even compared to Neon Bible, which has an overall fitting mood. Reflektor also has some quite phew songs like Joan of Arc and You Already Know. I personally think that the first three albums don't even have a single bad song. But from Reflektor on, their work has become less constant. With high peaks but also very lows.
@@thebigkrischan The Suburbs is weaker to me because unlike Neon Bible and the Debut which struck the balance between having a similar mood and narrative throughout with diverse and lush instrumentation from song to song, Suburbs’ monotony became its weakness and all of the songs blended together into a boring sonic mush. No song really stands out which I guess is a good thing for you, but personally I like the colorful and diverse approach to the music on Reflektor than the very bland sonic pallet to be found on The Suburbs. I’ll give it that the lyrical themes are pretty good, but still weaker compared to Neon Bible, Funeral, and Reflektor. Overall, it’s their worst excluding Everything Now which just flat out sucks.
@@Lancelot30 I agree that suburbs was more mellow but anything after neon Bible was just to jarring and different which made me stop listening to AF. It's a shame that they took such a turn 😕. Also yeah everything now was absolute dogshit

I experienced the exact same story after my mom passed away when I was 13. My family somehow broke to pieces and it’s been different since then. Even though it’s been more than 10 years, there are moments when we’re together that feel like we’re more far away than ever each one with their own nostalgia. Thank you for this piece -song and video- make me feel a hug and a shoulder near my head each time I reproduce it.
