  • A day in the life of a SOLDIER | Army Pharmacy Technician. This video shows you what a day in the life of a soldier is like in the army pharmacy. A lot of people don't know we exist and what we do on a day to day basis. This day in the life of a soldier series, army edition is just a snippet of what my day is like. This is not my "everyday" because I would normally do PT on my own early and not go to my daughters daycare mid day but you catch the drift. This day in in the life of a soldier army pharmacy tech will give you a sense of the job and some of what we do. Its cool but very trying and tedious. Its hard to show you a lot of the job because we do handle peoples personal information but If you have any questions please comment below. Enjoy!

    If I didn't have as many mental health issues as I do, I would try to join the Army. This is probably the profession I would try to get into.

    From one pharmacy tech (Walgreens) to another, I am SO envious of how much counter space you have! How many scripts does an army pharmacy fill in a day?

      We service all military dependents. So that would include spouses, their family members, retirees, veterans, and active service members. It depends on if you have tricare coverage.

    I noticed some of you at the Army pharmacy wear the army camouflage uniform and others wear the stereotypical pharmacy uniform. Is there any reason to that or Do yall have the choice to wear whichever uniform you want? I am very curious to know when you wear the army uniform to work as a pharm tech?

    Hey, ive recently enlisted into the army with the same MOS. I get sent to Fort Sam Houston on October 20th. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to prepare for this job and any other tips for basic training.

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  7 років тому +1

      For basic training....do what they tell you and work as a team! Its really not that bad and I would go back in a heartbeat. You will meet lots of people and make great friends. Pay attention to the details that the drill sergeant give you. Be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform. For the job, Pay attention to detail as well. This is a job that can kill somebody. Look at right dose, quantity, and strength of medication. If your unsure, as a pharmacist.

    So I was going to reclass to this MOS and from what our retention NCO was telling me, it's like cramming 2 years of school into 19 weeks. Is it really that difficult to pass or how would you rate that? Also do you enjoy it.. I'm like a big medical nerd and this was the only medical option for me to reclass to so I was hoping it'd be a fun one 😁

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  6 років тому +1

      It is a lot of work crammed into about 19 weeks but its do-able lol. You really have to make the time to study because there is a lot of drugs and there is math too. As far as the job itself its not hard but it is mentally demanding because its long hours depending on where you get stationed and you are in a customer service job. You deal with the patients, dependents and retires so you get a mix of everyone. Its a good stable job though and something you can do on the outside.

    I’m a single mom of a 2 yr old. I’m thinking of going active duty but before I do, I would like to be prepared to juggle it all and make sure I’m able to go to school as well. Do you think it will be possible? Any advice I will appreciate :)

    Hey,
    I recently joined the army as a pharmacy specialist. Do you have any advice for AIT and what bases should I try to work at upon graduation AIT? Do you prefer working in a hospital or are their other options?

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  6 років тому +4

      I actually just recorded a video on my AIT which will be part of my Military 10 for 10 series that starts may 1st. Definitely subscribe so you dont miss that upload. Pharmacy AIT has changed a lot over the years and its definitely more strict. Take the studying serious because you dont want to be recycled. The material is not hard but you have to take the time to study the drugs and the math. For me math was the hardest part but if you take notes and pay attention you will be fine. They show you exactly what you need to know to pass. Enjoy San Antonio but dont go buck wild, save you money and stay out of trouble.

  • @IamkathD

    Hi Armyprincess! I’m interested of becoming a 68Q, the only thing is that I have a 20months old and I am married. How do you cope up with the basic training without seeing your family? Is there a possibility of deployment overseas? Any words of wisdom to enlighten me. Would really appreciate it! Thanks!

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  6 років тому +7

      Being away from your family is hard but it goes by fast. You will be able to write often and call sometimes. They can also come to visit you for basic training graduation. Your time in basic training is soooo occupied that you really spend it focused in learning what they are teaching you but its good because it makes it go by fast. There's always a possibility of deployment at some point, Its usually based off of the unit you go to, your MOS, or the duty location. Its hard to say if or when you will deploy but you have to take that into consideration. If you do deploy you will be doing your job. For example, I am a pharmacy tech so if i deploy i will be over there working in a pharmacy so its not all bad.
      Words of wisdom:
      -remember why your doing it and what your doing it for. This will help you get through the hard time as motivation
      -Basic training is NOT as bad as people make it out to be. It goes by fast and you get to meet a lot of cool people.
      -Your family will become your support system so make sure they are on board and in the know because they really help you get through your tough times in the military period, not just basic training.
      -You get sooo many opportunities for a better quality of life, healthcare, and travel that to me these benefits outweigh the risks.
      -the military is not for everybody but anybody can do it.
      -focus on your physical fitness, start before you even go to basic ( running, push ups/situps) it will hep you once you get there
      -basic training is all a mental game to help rebuild you as a soldier, you got this!

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  5 років тому +1

      If you join, yes you still have to go through basic training. They might let you skip the pharmacy school part but not 100% sure because the rules keep changing and the minimun time you can join as a pharmacy tech right now is 5 years. There is no 2 year option but that time will count as experience.

I just wanted your opinion on this because I’m not sure if I 100% believe him. I wasn’t planning on enlisting for 5 years and I’d be a lot more comfortable going in for 4.

    • @ARMYprinncess
      @ARMYprinncess  6 років тому

      That sounds about right, I initially came in on a 5 year contract and all of my new soldier just getting to the unit are on 5 year contracts, I guess because of the money they put into sending you through pharmacy tech school and you get state certified in the end they want to make sure they get some time out of you. Really, the time goes by soooo fast. but weigh your options do whats comfortable for you.
