Well also Dumbledore was a professor and Tom Riddle was one of his most gifted - if not the MOST gifted student - so he looks at Voldemort as a child student who lost his way.
"Never got to say this, but I take 50 points off Slytherin for becoming a Dark Lord. Off course it doesn't affect the current House Cup, but the one you guys won".
I wish in the movies they made the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort more like the books. In the books it barely seemed like Dumbledore was breaking a sweat and was just casually testing what Voldemort could do, because he was that powerful a wizard, there was good reason why Voldemort feared Dumbledore and only Dumbledore. It was nothing to him and he was just testing what Tom could do. But I guess they needed a scene filled with tension.
Having never read the books, the book version sounds like an interesting premise to see on the screen. But the movie version of the duel between Tom and Dumbledore is probably one of the finest scenes they ever produced. What I like the most about it is the lack of any tense (dun dun dun) music or background score or any fanfare. It was so eerily silent just filled with the voices of the spells and the sounds of the destruction it was causing. Harry cowering in fear of getting hit as the streams of Dumbledore and Tom clashed was just beautiful to me. It could be just me now but still, it was a splendid masterpiece of a scene executed beautifully. I loved the tension they surrounded around it, doesn't appear that Dumbledore is struggling at all, just concerned for Harry's safety and scared he might actually kill the dark lord by himself by mistake 😂
