In an 11 minute video of horrible tackles and reffing, I was surprised there was zero red cards when there was clearly about 20+. That reffing is just appalling.
There was 1. #12 on the red team got sent off and then kicked at a player.

@@FaustoTheBoozehound therein lies the problem. I’ve been in matches where the officiating is so goddamn incompetent and inconsistent, you’d think they want half the players to get injured and fight each other before they take any action.

I watch Liga MX (Mexico) a lot, there’s a lot of fights but referees don’t bother allowing players to calm down, red card if there was intentional grab/punch/kick.

@@ISTSoccer I wish I could be at some of these games, the best we have here in AZ is the Phoenix Rising who are great but not a good local mens league that I've been able to find.
As a former referee, i am absolutely irate at how these games are being officiated. When a ref loses control of the game, all heck breaks lose. I would state to the refs that handled these matches that if you notice the movement of play is getting violent, stop the play if able before someone gets hurt and a fight breaks out.
as a former player I really appreciated a referee who would take control early and give out some yellows if things were getting rough and tense. Experienced a lot of matches where things were getting out of hand early and the ref just let it go and think to myself "we are going to have one of those matches tonight".
Yes, I ref the younger kids games (U10) and this does not really occur much if not at all. The biggest issue in this age are the crazy soccer moms...

Apart from all refs barely walking towards a situation that could be prevented from scaling with a quick blow and a decisive yellow card.
Exactly. However, media loves to victimize refs and vilify players because every once in a while a ref gets attacked. Don't get me wrong, physically attacking or verbally abusing a ref is never ok. Still, in 20+ years of playing and watching football, I have never seen a Ref get physically attacked. On the other hand, I have seen way too much horrendous refing leading to escalating matches and injuries.
Yes, refing at the amateur level is hard, but a few idiots taking it way too far fall back on millions of players just trying to have a good time and playing a decent match.
Because they don’t care anymore, lol.
There’s also the fact that some refs are buddy buddy with the assignor so they get all the games.

The guys in the stands heckling the old guy who got taken out at 3:30 are pathetic. He’s out there playing at his age and the guys heckling are sitting on their ass on the sideline.

Yup, it is ridiculous. I managed an indoor soccer facility for 10 years and I saw some crazy stuff. Worst one I saw was when two guys kicked each other in the shin and broke their legs in half. It was gruesome.

This shows how low the level of refs are in so many amateur matches, and how it really ruins so much of the game for those who just play to have fun. 85+ % of the attackers in this game should be redcarded, and the club should tell the said players to never come back. I mean, multiple guys are literally taking swings at opponents, and the ref is like "Naah, it's fine. Yellow card for that" ..

Something common in all of these videos are yes, the players, parents, and coaches fight, but the referee does everything correct! Handling a tough situation as an official can be one of the most difficult things to do.

i had gotten a red in summer soccer in high school and the guy didn’t have a red card he just told me off the field

Refs don’t know the rules, if you swing and try to punch someone it’s a red and not a yellow.
what I love about amateur soccer is that many go to the ground at the wrong time and to compensate for how bad they are, anyway... it's very funny to watch these videos, just like there are other amateur soccer videos where you see very good things , there are very good players too!!

There are some real pshyco's on those pitches.
The biggest problems are the referees.
The yellow card should be applied when a player takes a chance and thinks they can get to the ball but end up committing a foul with no intention of hurting the guy.
The red card should be applied when the player knows that they shouldn't do what they did. Creating a "plug" with your flat foot is meant to stop the other player's foot and should be a straight red card.
Purposely throwing a punch is also a red card................unfortunately, when the referee is bad....
