Ar is a man so full of surprises, like Everytime I think I have understood his personality or music he just completely shatters that image, he is simple yet complex, just like his music, really a gods child.
There is a need for an authentic biography of ARR. We continue to lose a lot on good, reliable historic documentation of our pioneers - including musicians, composers and artists, leave alone stalwarts from other fields. Rather unfortunately, ARR is yet to open up and communicate to the level that most of us wish he does. He is certainly holding back. In some interviews, he opens up a little. But - by and large, we have to reconcile with the fact that ARR is - for all his greatness as a composer and musician, is a rather reluctant, unwilling communicator. We have a lot of respect and love for both ARR and Bharat Bala. If however, one would want to rate this interview or discussion, it comes out as just one other. One would expect that ARR would have been more open and more forthcoming when his closest friend is the interviewer, but that did not happen - once again. :(:( Bharat Bala, who knows him for as long as he does, should consider undertaking the effort to bring out a biography of ARR. For the personal closeness and confidence they have forged over decades, such an undertaking is likely to be more friendly (biased?) rather than neutral? May be! Yet, its very likely to be more authentic than a work coming from others who may not have that access to ARR. Hope ARR would be open to such an endeavor as well. There is a lot more to ARR than his creations.
