@Xetren It's partly the idea of superhero names at all and partly as Eric says, it's kinda on the nose (nothing like as on the nose as e.g. 'Superman' or 'Batman' though).
On one hand, funny (to some), self-aware moment that's very AoS in nature. On the other, a show like this needs to be _really_ careful with stuff like that IMO - yes, "Quake" is absurd on some level but obviously as soon as _we_ start believing that too, the show basically collapses (suspension of disbelief can be a fragile thing). I could easily have done without it to be honest, to me it felt a little bit like a previously unashamedly genre show apologising for itself - let your freak flag fly AoS :).

    Good episode imo.
While I wish Kora was more fleshed out , I liked how they summed up her & Daisy in terms of their relationship to Jiaying in that the former threw away her mothers love while the latter wished she had it in the first place....she had valid points in her argument about using SHIELD to end suffering as did Coulson in rebuting her (getting a Ward mention was cool though I don’t think we’ll see him in the finale unless something drastic happens).
I also liked how Coulson said it should be May to talk to her given her empathetic abilities and it shows how she has changed from being the most emotionally guarded member of the team due to her past to eventually warming up and becoming a maternal figure to Daisy aswell as pushing others to be their best.
The stuff with Daisy , Sousa & Mack was fun..Henry Simmons was the MVP of the episode , the character moments we got with him & Daisy aswell as Sousa were just delightful.
While brief ...it was nice to see Enoch again but most importantly Fitz , I really hope he’s not dead but this episode didn’t dissuade any fears of that , especially with the mention of getting some bloodwork results back.
    Also...QUAKE!!.

Just watched the episode. Here's my ''blood-work'' theory.
I'm going on a limb here and say with 101% certainty that they won't kill Fitz. The ''blood-work'' is a reference to Jemma's pregnancy blood-work. Fitz' suggestion to take their time was fully due to him wanting to build that family life with their relatively soon to be born child. Jemma referencing not wanting to leave a part of herself behind was referencing their daughter. That's also where Fitz is atm: with their daughter. Fitz' location isn't the most important think she's protecting, it's her daughters location (with Fitz there taking care of her of course).
Also look at the scene where Nathaniel is confused by the space they're in. They aren't actually in a white space. The white space is merely the representation of the missing bits of memory. Jemma gets hugged by Fitz while distressed and repeats ''I don't want to forget''. While it looks to me like she's holding an ''invisible baby''. Which would be another missing bit of the memory we were witnessing. She holds her arms together in a way you could also fit a baby in such a positioning of the arms. The white room had a couch in it and some shelves. The rest of the room we couldn't see were probably baby stuff or a crib or whatever. A bunch of other important missing parts from her memories, which would hint towards their baby.
It's just a standard red herring and I'm not going to believe that they'll kill Fitz or make him terminally ill in the last episode after all those struggles Fitz and Simmons had. They are surely going to get a full on happy end. Especially with the way shows like this usually play out. I'll fully back my theory and you can tell me how wrong or right I was after the finale lol.

I’m not ready for this series to end. This have been one of my favorite superhero shows. I fell in love with these characters. I’m sad that this show wasn’t acknowledged by the MCU proper. I really felt seasons 2-4 did a good job expanding on ideas the movies introduced, such as Hydra’s return, people falling out of love with super powered people and starting fearing them, which helped enhance Civil War with me. Even the fourth season did a good showing the consequence of the Accords. They did all of that while telling the stories they wanted to tell. I do understand it would be harder to coordinate the movies and shows though.

And the FitzSimmons parts destroyed me. I didn't think about the bloodwork having to do with Jemma being pregnant but now watching those scenes again... Yes, definitely can see it!! I'd be a bit more releaved and absolutely makes sense that they'd want to make her forget about the baby as well as Fitz's location, so that she'd be able to still go and help the team without the chronicoms possibly taking the baby hostage/hurt her. Say what you want about him but I think Nathaniel and his team are a pretty efficient villain group(with sibyls help of course):
-managed to find a way to transfer powers through research
-incapacitated daisy and Sousa long enough to steal her power and learn to control it over time
-managed to put together a pretty competent team of inhumans (that he gave the powers to) that would otherwise be pretty dead
    -took over / destroyed afterlife
    -killed Gordon, lee and jiaying
-kidnaps Simmons and deke and manages to at least get a little info out of them
-managed to Infiltrate the lighthouse and hack into its computer system
-managed to get a signal out to deep space for reinforcement chronicoms of that timeline that resulted in the destruction of EVERY shield base on earth safe for the lighthouse (I actually just sat there with my jaw dropped and thought „oh no they’re not actually doing that, are they?“ when coulson revealed what sibyl searched for in the system)

      I completely agree.
I feel like the reasons people dislike Nathaniel are the reasons why I like him. He is such a smug prick and being such a villain that I cannot help but smile. He's charismatic in a douchey way, and the fact that people tend to hate him much more than they ever did the Chronicoms is an argument in his favour that he’s the better villain. He adds an interesting wrinkle to the Chronicoms' plot; a way to bring back Hydra or whatever his group is and still keep it fresh.
He's kinda got the crazy opportunist vibe that most S.H.I.E.L.D. antagonists don't have, so I'm good with the route the writers went with him. I gotta say there’s something about the way the actor plays Nathaniel that just makes me love the character. I can’t actually hate him he plays him so well. It kind of feels like a mix of Daniel Whitehall and Doctor Fitz.
One of the reasons I liked that Nathaniel got to be the final villain of the series is that he was someone we wanted to see the heroes take out. Many people felt so horrible about Talbot (aka. Graviton) having to be killed, so it's nice to have a villain that the heroes have no emotional attachment to and doesn't leave us feeling sad for them in the end. Although you can still tell that Nathaniel may not have had the best of childhoods and was affected to some extent by the death of his father at the heroes' hands. But regardless, it makes fighting him more of a battle in which we can easily root for the heroes.
It's kind of like the Thanos we got in Endgame. We have no sympathy for him there because that version of him hadn't gone through the character development that made some people feel sympathy for him in Infinity War. He became more like his comic-book counterpart who was just another pure evil villain that the heroes needed to stop, which is not necessarily a bad thing for a villain and is often actually a great thing. It allows the villains to go that extra mile in their villainy and allows the viewers to root for the heroes more. The same logic applies here with Nathaniel Malick.
I feel like Marvel has done a good job giving us very sympathetic and perhaps misunderstood villains with good intentions, but sometimes, we just need a bad guy to just be the bad guy for our heroes to stop.

Souza being shocked at being in space isn’t just coz it was his first time, he died in 1955, they didn’t have anything other than low res grainy images until 1960 so it’s likely he hadn’t even seen what the earth looked like from space like we all have. They didn’t send a person into space until almost 10 years after he died so just being there must be surreal for him.

Theory about fitz and Simmons scene: I think that the moment they had about not forgetting was a conversation they had before she went back in time to look for the others when the team was fighting izel. She had the same exact hairstyle and outfit on when she looked for them and in her memories. When she said a part of her was ripped apart from her I believe that they had a child and she was protecting both of them from the cromicons. And they already saw the future which is why she put on the implant because she knew that she would be taken hostage by Nathaniel.

This is in response to somewhere around 23:50 when Sybil told Kora to remind Daisy she would never let her sister fight alone, Kora misinterpreted the sentiment. Sybil knew how Kora would take that AND how Daisy would take that. Sybil WANTED Daisy to go after Jemma. Probably cuz she needs someone to take out Nathaniel for her. Lemme put it this way. Daisy knows her family is SHIELD. Or at the very least, this little group of agents who've stuck it out through thick and thin. Jemma's her Sister of Choice. Kora may be a Sister of Blood, but Daisy could not care less about that. She has no connection to this woman. In Daisy's timeline, Kora never was. So maybe under better circumstances it'd be nice to get to know Kora and sing kum ba ya but Jemma needs Daisy and so Daisy's going that way. She thinks she's doing what Sybil wouldn't expect, but this is EXACTLY how Daisy operates. It's not the first time she's gone rogue or awol or disobeyed orders. This is predictably her MO. You don't leave family behind. Sybil anticipates this. It will not surprise her.

    Predictions:
    1. [Bloodwork] Jemma and Fitz raised their daughter while developing time gear for the Zephyr. Daughter has a terminal condition, dies as a child. Jemma was in the apparatus when the monitor had a code blue as her final memory. She will not be able to give birth to Deke's bloodline.
    2. [Fitz] Jemma was intended to be caught, Fitz became a poison pill/Trojan Horse in Nathaniel's mind. This leads to the Away Team escaping. The known SHIELD bases are decoys [part of why the Triskelion was built much sooner]. A stalking horse campaign could have separated the embedded HYDRA assets to the locations while loyalists to SHIELD were diverted to... other assets. [Like a cloaked fleet of TVA/SWORD assault ships]
    3. [Coulson] Coulson accepts reassignment to the Time Variance Authority and leaves SHIELD for the final time. (Ironic, if his first detail would be interrogating Loki in the Disney+ series).
    4. [Nathaniel} transported with Corra [unstable ball of Sunshine, that she is] to Chronicom homeworld where the pair become the Destroyers of Worlds.
I have a few other ideas percolating, share them later.

I don't know if this idea has come up in the past but I haven't heard it, so here's what I'm wondering. What if the start of this show took place in an alternate timeline, and the events we are experiencing now somehow bring it into line with Earth-199999, the MCU.
So, we start in one alternate timeline and go through seasons 1 through 4 and half of season 5, we get back from 2091 and change the future which creates second timeline (from the shows perspective). That second time line somehow does not involve "The Snap", which is why none of the characters were affected and it's never mentioned. Maybe it's one of the alternate realities that Dr Strange didn't look at and Thor went for the head in Wakanda (When you think of it in terms of infinite timelines 14 million isn't that many, haha). They then go back in time at the end of season 6 and you have the events that are currently occurring which creates a third timeline that they're currently on. One where Susa becomes the police officer in 2012 during the Battle of New York, and Quake joins SWORD.
Now, I have in no way gone and done any sort of research to see what kind of plot holes that might arise because of what I'm suggesting but I think it would be a really interesting way to tie the entire series into the MCU since season 6 kind of put it on shaky ground.

    • @disneyerapowerrangers2923
      @disneyerapowerrangers2923 4 роки тому +1

The first few seasons isn't a alternate timeline. Season 1 ties directly into the winter soldier and season 2 sets up age of ultron. Season 3 also references the events of civil war and mentions the accords.

    • @robs7776
      @robs7776 4 роки тому

One doesn't disprove the other. With infinite timelines many of them are nearly identical with minor changes. Case in point, in the example I gave there would be two identical timelines up until the point where they save the world from cracking. At which point, events started to happen differently.
We can also use Doctor Strange's view of 14 million time lines as an example. In all but one of them Thanos won. Now, the manner in which he won very well could have been different in many if not all of those but the end result was always the same.
So who's to say that the MCU timeline and the Agents of Shield timeline weren't identical save for minor changes elsewhere in the world? Not all differences have to be earth-shattering or revolving around the main characters.
Edit: Maybe the split in this particular timeline revolved around saving Coulson's life. Maybe in the MCU timeline Fury decided not to save Coulson, or it didn't work. A different Shield team would have found the scepter before AoU. Everything else plays out basically the same except you don't get Quake. It could also give them a better excuse as to why the Marvel Netflix shows aren't part of the MCU. There were some minor tie-ins between the shows that would suggest they're in the same universe but if that timeline wasn't the MCU timeline then they can make a clean break.

I also believe the implant is there to suppress painful memories because if she remembers, Gemma wouldn't be able to help them as she's done since she picked them up from the temple. Or
