- NORTH WEST LION KING PERFORMANCE WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA | Double Toasted Bites - Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been at the fore front of ridicule, drama, and so much more over the years and now unfortunately there has been a light backlash on the performance of their little one North West performing at a Lion King play, and while we give our reaction and wouldn't recommend North West doing any audition for anything else like this, we do realize that it may not be entirely her own fault.

I am convinced Kim HATES North. Why else would she set her up like this knowing she will be ripped to shreds. This was no her catterwalling or lip synching in 1 of her dad's shows. Her "roar" when she sang *"I'm working on my roar"* is so nonexistent. You're supposed to yell at that word in the song. Even JD McCrary understood that when he sang it in the Lion King remake.

I don’t blame her, it’s her parent’s fault. Most likely her mom in this instance. She’s a child. Why in the fuck would she put her kid in this position? The kids are in the public eye & open to enough scrutiny because of their parents. This only makes things worse. I genuinely feel bad for that girl.
She a child with no obvious stage, vocal, and dance training at all. Her parents can afford it.

@@Gaia_Seraphina I do know that sometimes kids don’t want to listen, but she is the mother! she just needs to put her foot down and stop letting the kids run over her, if that’s what is happening! They need to take certain privileges from them until they do what they’re supposed to do. I feel like she probably just lets those kids do whatever they want, probably doesn’t have any discipline whatsoever. But she is the grown-up and she controls everything so I don’t understand why she can’t get them to do what they’re supposed to do if she wanted to. North is 10 not 17. If she didn’t want to rehearse, then her parents should have just told her she can’t be in the show and let the people find someone else. 🤷🏾♀️ I honestly feel like it was more of the case that Kim probably didn’t even push her to rehearse. They both probably thought they could just go in there and be good and not have to do any work. But North is a child, and Kim is the grown-up, so she should have known better.

There’s always a way to actually talk to a child and tell them that while they aren’t good at something right now, that doesn’t mean they can’t be good later with practice if it’s something they genuinely care about. It’s a disservice to these children to not be honest with them about these things just to protect their feelings. There’s a way to do without being mean or malicious
North is actually a good artist; her drawings and paintings are really good. Maybe, Kim should try to encourage/support this more, instead of throwing her to the wolves.
this reminds me of a kid at was at school with, the younger brother of the lead soloist. He couldn't tell the difference between singing louder and higher, they eventually kicked him out of the choir politely. Next term he comes back with a hearing aid in his left ear and relearns how to sing.

If this was North’s school play then it would be okay as well. It is a professional production and they should have given her some training or lessons before. There are other professional kid talents that would have done a better job. If she wants to keep up with acting then she will have to take criticism like others. The trolling is not great, but her parents created this situation. If she enjoys it, she should practice and continue but they shouldn’t buy her parts and wait till she’s ready.

The production company decided to go with her for whatever reason, so I’m sure they calculated their risk and benefit from the name versus actual theatre kids. You are right that the parents are to blame and children should just have fun. Which she should, would just be better if her parents supported her actual talents. She does art, and her rapping isn’t too bad. I don’t think any child is too young for the “know your limits” speech though. It should just be worded and related to them how they can understand. The other difference with Blue Ivy vs. North West is that Blue didn't take a position that would have otherwise gone to a paid dancer or a child performer with more talent. She was an add-on because her mother was happy to have her daughter involved in her show. North took a spot that other kids, who are talented and work hard to earn roles in professional productions. North's parents and the show producers gave an undeserving child an opportunity that should have gone to someone deserving.
I don't feel qualified to comment on her performance. It's definitely better than the one I did when I was 4 years old, sanging this song against a background projection at the local mall that my mom still has on VHS to this day.😂😂

Videos like this exemplify why I don’t inherently have problem with nepotism or industry plants because while connection may get you through the door you still need talent to go anywhere. Just ask Mason Pryor.

The Broadway costumes are gorgeous why did they go with the muppet chicken look???
The base ticket to see this show was $366/seat. This was put on by Disney, it was meant to be a big theatrical production equivalent to shows on Broadway. Even more special because it was 1 show, and the 30th Anniversary of Lion King. She had absolutely NO business in that show. Shame on Kim and whoever else backed this decision. And Kim also just released a clothing line that looks like North’s in the concert. I can’t handle that family.
I wanted to add that right before North’s performance was Jennifer Hudson with a jaw dropping number. Peak nepotism y’all
Here’s the thing: children of famous people (I don’t like the cringey term “nepobaby”) need to:
1. Have talent to follow in their parents’ footsteps.
2. Genuinely want to follow the same career path as their parents, not because they can take advantage of the system by using their privileges just because they can.
3. Wait their turn and work hard like everyone else.
4. Be grateful for their advantages and not complain about them.
5. Not discredit their parents about their success. Be honest about how they came up, but still try to form your own brand instead of being a “mini me” of your mom and/or dad.
In the cast of North, I’m surprised she was allowed this opportunity, since her mother is untalented in the world of entertainment and both her parents are unlikeable.
This make Willow Smith and Jaden Smith nepotism not seem so bad in comparison because North obviously dint do any rehearsals like the rest of the cast. The costumes wasn't from the production it something North and her people brought so it on Kim and Kanye for the costume she is wearing.

The fact that they had announced Blue Ivy Knowles in the upcoming Mufasa movie just a few weeks prior... This seems like it was a direct response to that.

The performance was terrible. That could've been a breakout roll for a child. People need to stop lying to children just because it'll probably hurt their feelings. People don't die from hurt feelings, it usually makes them stronger. This coddling culture is a detriment.
Big difference… blue ivy was in one part of her mom’s performance and knew the steps and choreography, but early on looked like a kid dancing and learning her body’s movements. As she’s growing up and learning how to move it’s looking like a more skilled dancer. Blue ivy was never lost on stage and never looked under rehearsed. North has no idea where her marks are or how to move on stage or in front of an audience.
What annoys me is that there are more talented kids that were more deserving of this role than North West. SMH
A lot of people are confusing being honest with being mean. A young boy with the talent deserved that spot. Kardashians made show all about themselves. This is a slap in the face to the cast, crew, musicians, people who paid to see it, the real costume designer, and to North herself. Her parents set her up for this. This business is full of criticism and performers especially need to be ready to take that critique. Everybody in the industry at some point is met with brutal honesty, and cold hearted opinions but that’s how the industry works. Good performers are necessity, otherwise we get lousy performance like this. She killed the quality of the show, but that’s just cause she isn’t at this level yet. Her parents need to put her in a performing arts school or community theater or something and start out learning about the basics of musicals before throwing her into the spotlight in such a highly produced and professional show like this. This was irresponsible on Kim and Kanye’s part. It doesn’t surprise me though, this family is all about exploiting each other for content. Specially considering Kim’s mom likely released “the tape.” I don’t think they care about humiliating her.

This was supposed to be a Broadway production. The performers were, in large part, part of the Broadway cast. And the part was supposed to be played by a Broadway caliber child performer. The production company that produces the Kardashians show is/was the same one who produced this stage show.
Kim refused to allow the shows costume designer to costume North and insisted that she choose the designer and have the costume designed herself. It looks like they went to Walmart, bought a zip hoodie, sweatpants, and some big fuzzy slippers and rigged a last minute Halloween costume.
Who over is in charge of casting her should get a suspension....lol
The difference is that is the show of her mom . This is lion king production. So different . She can sing at her dad’s concert, that is fine. He can do whatever he wants. But for a production like this, more actors are more qualified.
