Joel, tonsillitis is a bacterial infection of the tonsils, it can eventually go away because the tonsils will filter out the infection. That’s their job. But you’ve got it backwards, dear, strep throat is much, much worse. It can settle into rheumatic heart and a person can die from it. So if a doctor says you have strep throat, don’t treat it lightly by thinking it’s not as bad as tonsillitis. I just had to say something about it. ❤️
I can’t agree more strongly with your comments about strep potentially being very serious. When my husband was ~20, he was prescribed antibiotics for strep, and stopped taking them partway through the course because he was feeling better. BAD idea. He developed rheumatic fever, and was seriously ill (and very uncomfortable) for a while. Fortunately, his heart wasn’t damaged. However, he’s since had multiple (6? 8?) recurrences of rheumatic fever, each time feeling miserable (swollen joints everywhere, aches, fever, intense fatigue, very sore throat) and risking heart damage. Each time we go straight to the ER for a mega-dose of penicillin and Rx for more antibiotics…and each time the physician will call over a gaggle of others to get a look at a real, live case of something they’d only read about in books 😂😂 Anyway…moral of the story: 1. Strep should be taken seriously 2. ALWAYS take ALL antibiotics as prescribed (finish the full course) @Joel Wood, I hope you see this 💐
Joel, look into Myrtle Beach South Carolina. It's subtropical, it's clean, there are hundreds of great restaurants, it's become a hot spot, it's way cheaper than Florida, it's super nice. Your house could double in value in less that ten years. Forget NY State, very high taxes, bad winters. People are leaving the state. A nice spot in Florida would be fine as long as you can handle 6 months of hot and humid, Florida has a lot to offer. Where ever you would buy a house take the kind of people living in the area into consideration. Also weather, taxes, politics, ect
Not paranoid in the least about a meet up. In this day and age, you absolutely cannot be too careful. I wish there would be a time and situation when you could feel safe in meeting with fans and that would be a happy day for you and your fans. But, until that day....listen to Mom!
Upstate New York is beautiful, in particular, the Adirondack area. Lots of mountains, lakes, beautiful scenery. Harsh winters, however. Most people head south when autumn is over.
Hey, I take offense to that! 😂 NYC is the best city in the world! But I might be a little biased being I am 3rd generation born & raised in the NYC neighborhood Hell’s Kitchen. There is no other place on earth quite like my city, it’s a big city but our neighborhoods are small close knit communities. You might not realize that if you don’t know anyone that actually grew up in Manhattan. Everyone in my neighborhood knew everyone else, and almost everyone was related in one way or another, we looked out for each other just like any community in any small town in the US. Don’t think it’s that different from any community in that respect, it’s really not. Every year we have whats called the 9th Avenue International Food Festival and it’s our neighborhood “family” reunion! People travel back from where ever they may have moved to just to come to the fair and catch up with friends & family, it’s a really big deal for us ♥️ And the food is fabulous!!! The best NYC restaurants in the world sent up tents and sell their dishes.
We currently have 1 dog and 2 cats, recently had to put our 11 years sweet dog Daisy to sleep. Hubby wants to get a puppy and I am not ready. Let's just enjoy the time we have with our dog and kitties we have right now.
When Christina Grimmie was killed by a delusional fan in Florida was horrible. I think everyone should be careful at meet and greets. Both of my daughters are 40 and even though they are adults, they will always hear my thoughts lol.
Florida is much more affordable than NY, especially NYC. Upstate NY is really nice with lots of land and by the lakes. I went to Lake George the summer before lockdown with friends and it was really great. I imagine that autumn is very pretty there too since it's on the east coast and the foliage is very nice from September into November and the weather is cooler.
As long as you do a meet and greet in a very public place, usually people are ok. I’ve seen big channels do meet and greets and 20-30 people show up and everything is great. They printed out like postcards sized cards the were pre signed by the group so they can had them out if people ask for a picture and autographs. It works out pretty well. Just don’t announce it out too early.
"Upstate New York" essentially covers everything further than about 50 miles (depends who you ask) from Manhattan. The further you get from the city, the lower the prices get. Once you get as far as the Finger Lakes region, home prices are actually quite reasonable. And there are some beautiful homes like the ones in your pictures in the area with with included acreage. The negatives are cold snowy winters and relatively high NY state taxes. But you could always join the legions of snowbirds and head south for the winter.
If you had the resources, you might want to consider San Diego. The best climate in the U.S. and a great place if you are into outdoor activities. I lived for fifteen years and loved every minute of it. The only reason I left was for a teaching position at a prestigious university in New England. Florida is great in the winter, but hell in the summer and fall. The humidity is horrible.
Hi Joel. Hope you're having a grand time on your holiday to the US. Thanks for sharing it with us. I think if and when you're ready to purchase a home and no matter where, listen to your gut feelings. There's never a right or wrong decision, it's making the decision that's the big news ! If you feel like changing your mind after a few years, you can always sell and rethink your location. With the support system you have in place, just take the leap of faith when you're ready. The rest will fall into place. Good luck and continued thanks for sharing.
Came across your page a week or so ago and your videos are great. I'm an accountant in upstate NY and you made me laugh when you talked about your taxes. Have fun and safe travels!
Me getting to watch a new video from you >>>> 😁😁😁😘. Judy will love the shout out you gave her. She's on a camping trip right now, so not sure when she'll see this. Love you heaps! ❤ Jean
Barcelona is fun. People are chatty and warm. I remember the restaurant, bars and club drinks are 3 times the size of the US with little ice!! I told myself if I keep drinking like this I will become an alcoholic by the time I return home. Water at the restaurants are scarce, but the food and tapas well delicious. It’s a good place to visit 🤗👍
Honestly if you are buying a house in America stick to tax free states. Florida is honestly the best option right now next to Alaska. We in in Florida have no state income tax nor do we have inheritance taxes. It’s should be under the states with no taxes or something by world according to Briggs. Anyway we don’t tax for food or medicine, our sales tax is middle of the road at 7 percent. Average house cost is $350,000 not including extra stuff, apartment average costs $1200 a month which isn’t bad. New York City is massively overly expensive if you had 1 million in the bank you get a one bed 600-700 sq ft place near the grand central train station which is actually close to the new Vanderbilt skyscraper art thing. It’s not worth it. Orlando for that price a monster 4 bed house with a huge lawn and a ton of space. Miami is all apartments and you get a two bed apartment near brickle which is the happening area of Miami and maybe 900 sq ft. Honestly it’s impossible to get actual real estate in New York City even in the other boroughs as the houses are constantly being handed down by will to the next generation so they become brownstones or homes that have been there basically forever. Boston you can forget as you can’t build anything unless you jump through so many legal hoops that you spend all your money on trying to get it right through the courts and the city. Don’t try celebration as it has weird city ordnances that just are just odd because technically Disney owns the land as that was the original site where Epcot was supposed to be. Orlando proper isn’t really worth the time as it’s just apartments that are ok but the rent is high and the houses are nice but small and expensive. I suggest areas like Apopka which feels big but it’s like a hub city, Altamonte springs as it’s a quieter community that has a lot already going for it, wekiwa with the state park so close, winter springs, or winter park which is a big shopping district with a nice older cinema that shows older things and indie films although there is a modern theater there too. Tampa is also a nice place though it can get a bit umm redneckish in places. Just knowing areas where things are is a huge advantage as you can plan better. Florida is also a very open place as we tend to accept people no matter what like your umm lifestyle choices don’t really matter (I just want to keep it nice for UA-cam). Orlando and Miami are the more better accepting places Tampa is meh anything north of central Florida I don’t really know as I think it’s a lot of redneck territory. The old saying the further north you go in Florida the more it becomes true southern.

When I saw the title, I never clicked so fast before because I immediately thought, _OMG Joel and Lia are buying a house in Florida!_ Turned out to be clickbait for me, but since you want input to where you should buy in the US, may I suggest buying on the Massachusetts coast? All those towns have stunningly beautiful shorelines, it's not too far from Boston, and it usually doesn't get too hot in the summer. And Autumn in New England is just stunning, just like in upstate NY!
I've been thinking of you lately because I interviewed to be a fitness coach at Orange Theory. I don't know yet if I will get the job because it's a process. I'm working on necessary certification and I've gone there for a number of workouts to try it out. It is such a workout!

At the expense of coming off as a UA-cam expert, I must put this out there. Strep throat is not something you want to skip taking the antibiotics for. Untreated strep throat can lead to rheumatic heart disease.
Florida is No Longer Cheap Joel, sorry babe, millions are moving here, Texas and Tennessee...for obvious reasons. Central FL coasts is the best, good luck! 🤗🧡
The reason why you have a membership like that, is trying a Soho House not where you live. I just want you to be happy and successful. What time is the livestream tonight? You’ve got it backwards. Tonsillitis can be viral, so antibiotics wouldn’t help, but some doctors give it to their patients just in case. Strep throat is WAY WORSE and can damage your heart permanently or even be fatal. If you have strep you must finish the antibiotics. Also, did you get tested for mono, because that constellation of symptoms could be indicative of that as well, which is viral.
Yay! NY wins! You could totally afford a house in upstate NY. It’s only downstate where’s its very expensive bc of NYC. Who knows maybe one day you and Ava be a Londoners/New Yorkers?!?
200 thousand 200 followers on Tik Tok wow Joel you're quite popular for sure! Lol... I watched some of your videos they are fun and funny... I am not surprised you are doing so well in that platform... I wonder if Lia has a Tik Tok as well? Anyway... About doing a meet and greet do it with security. If you and Lia ever want to.. (You don't have to). There are crazy dangerous loons out there never be so trustful.

Strep throat is WAY WORSE and can damage your heart permanently or even be fatal. If you have strep you must finish the antibiotics. Also, did you get tested for mono, because that constellation of symptoms could be indicative of that as well, which is viral.

Would definitely have to bite the bullet and buy that aircon unit.

Now is nice and invigorating. Summer is hot as hell.
