Found this video at the perfect time! I'm so undecided about whether to apply for Kent or Surrey and I'm applying on Thursday!! What's Kent really like? Especially as a woman of colour? I've always been in an environment where it's so diverse but I've heard some real horror stories about uni.

I'm class of 1988, things have changed a lot and new buildings have popped up everywhere. We had no security until a couple of years after when a student got raped, but security was still crap. University of Kent was better back in those days. Getting accommodation was really hard back then, don't know what it's like now. This is the place whee I learnt about new cultures as I was quite blind to it. You never go to uni to learn your field, all you do is party 24 hours.
Absolutely love your videos and this one in particular, I currently in year 13 I've sent off my application already and have a great offer for Kent and am looking at firming it however I have a few questions would you be able to answer any of them? I'd really appreciate it

thank you! & yeah you pay whilst living there. You can pay all upfront or in instalments divided up by each term I believe

Opinions on the uni ? There's an open day for jt next week as well as for Liverpool I don't know which to go just because my friend went to the open day last week and they didn't like it at all apparently people went helpful or friendly so would be helpful to know u think esp about diversity and being of race
+Hawks Moor definitely come to the open day so you can see the uni for yourself and form your own opinion. I throughly enjoy it here and genuinely find people very nice & friendly. Uni is massive there are so many people and whoever your friend had a bad experience, the likelihood that you even come across them is slim. In terms of diversity I feel as thought the uni is increasingly become diverse each year. & in terms of being black there are a few “problems” in regards to nightlife but really uni is for education and thats all good so yeahhhh ☺️ hope I helped x
Loved the video! I’ve firmed Kent and I have a couple questions: is there a free bus that goes into town or do uni students have to pay and how is Kent in terms of diversity?
Thank you for watching! 1) the bus to town isn’t free. A day pass is £2.90 or something like that or you can buy a whole years pass at the start of the year! 2) ... as in most places those of an ethnic background are the minority and you may notice this more in your lectures and seminars but this isn’t something that should put you off Kent. It will be like that in a lot of places and I personally haven’t been negatively affected by it. Hope that helps x

+Elise Marcelle I was only at Kent for a few months but there were people on campus doing hair all the time! You'll deffo come across the right people to hook u up x

Hi Ayan, all the Turing, Tyler and Keynes flats have en-suites.. So if you want your own shower pick a flat not a house
