"Blair St. Clair Makes Drag Queen History as 'Call My Life' Debuts at No. 1 On Dance/Electronic Albums Sales Chart" - It's from Billboard, I think it counts as a commercial/mainstream succes.
Blair is an icon. Honestly her music is the only "drag" music I listen to the same way I would any other pop music
Who cares?
@@DiegoSchneider320 fan of bobs?
Mistress Violet was just released and is probably imo one of the most unique RuGirl singles ever
the uk girlies have been slaying when it comes to music.
i mean i know it was challenges on drag race but the frock destroyers and the united kingdollw hit such big heights here in the uk for a group of drag queens and the frock destroyers have even gone and made their own album lmao
Tia Kofi has some really fun songs
Part of me is surprised at the lack of ‘cartoons and vodka’ but I honestly have no idea if 8 million views is considered a bigger release.
This was really interesting. Please do more videos like this in the future!
Thank you, I definitely plan to ☺️
if it’s anything to judge on Trixies cover of video games had my friends who don’t even watch drag race talking about it!
This video hasn't gotten many views unfortunately, I hope it doesn't deter you from doing similar in the future. Thanks for the hard work you put into this, I really enjoyed it - I had no idea about most of these songs.
Many queens are releasing music now, that is true. Though some queens have always been musicians and don't need to rely on Drag Race references to create songs such as Adore, Courtney, Alaska, Detox, Willam, Trixie and Jinx.
The American Apparel Ad Girls (Willam, Alaska and Courtney) were fun
really liked this video i never realized how much drag race music was out there, only thing is i wished you talked about Monet’s EP cuz it’s actually really good
There for You & Gently are so good. I did think when I was editing how I left it out, but it didn’t really fit in with the narrative or was hugely successful :(
@@DragDetective that’s very true which is a shame cuz she has such a unique voice for the drag race scene but it probably cuz it’s not that fitting for the gay bar theme, anyway don’t beat yourself up cuz the video was really well edited and i like those sort of guessing introduction that you would do when a queen set a new bar, it kept me on my those to know who was the next trend setter :)
It seems you have forgot the best Ru song: Gein by Aiden Zhane.
Not even kidding its really fkn amazing
Love this deep dive! I love Trixie’s music. Really stands out against all the other RuGirl music and love the country/bluegrass approach, feels so at home for Trixie
Pearl’s album “Pleasure” is still one of my favorites and has my favorite Rugirl song from it
OMG! I love that one too!
I am such a sucker for video essays, and to see my favorite albums be lauded as the trailblazers they are by someone really passionate about Drag Race makes me feel so validated. This is so good omg
God but Adore's recent discography is just amazing. the lyrics are masterpieces! Whatever (Album) and Dirty Laundry (EP) had such great music, like mainstream success worthy. The song, Pretty Boys Cry is one of my all time songs!
Willam's Sophomore Album Sharistry in Motion was a fantastic sophomore album.
Es Una Passiva Raked up 100,000s views so quick the first few hours.
Thick Thighs fared better than Violet, Fame or Any of the season 7.
Shartistry in Motion went to Number 1 on the comedy charts, and really solidified Willam as a power player in Drag Music 💓
Alaska was my introduction to drag music and accually to drag race, it was so COOOL
I thought Detox was Chad Michaels in This Boy is a Bottom
I really appreciate Trixie's discography as she's really the only one who's not doing club music or straight comedy. Like I feel she might have the best chance of actually bresking through.
Some of Phi Phi's music is pretty underrated.
Naughty or nice is a Christmas BOP
Honestly, Peronka (canada season 1 winner) has some of the best songs. I do think they need to inch out of the drag race identity but I think that she's going to be a great artist later. Same for Laganja's music too
Bebe’s first single was and still is a legit bop! It’s still ahead of its time today. Banjo is also a good recent one.
Sylvester & Divine were drag queen hitmakers a whole decade prior to RuPaul and Supermodel, just pointing that out, but I really loved watching this video, amazing work!
3 girls to watch out for in my opinion with their music is 1. Adore her whatever ep was soo good and has went down the emo/grunge route which is awesome 2. Aja the girls is a rap god and 3. Juju I think by far made the best contemporary album and has one of the best voices. I would've put Miss. Act up there if she was making more music that isn't for Eurovision
Boy manila dancing in sahara’s video is a funny easter egg.
You miss the great Jujubee
Dead Dandelion by Sharon is one of my favorite Ru girl songs, also Adore's album Whatever, Jinkx's album, Tatianna's T1, Miss Fame's album, and Violet's EP are some of the tops
We need an update with Priyanka and taste test! Come through got over a million views in only a few months
one of my favorite ru girls song is Miss Fame's Rubber Doll
THE CHOP BY MANILA AND LATRICE!! Also, perfect video
I love this video! I love Jiggly Caliente and Jaremi Carey’s albums-they’ve got a few songs each on my main playlist! Hot Couture is a classic, as well! Shea Couleé’s Cocky hits just right. 😌
I was really impressed with Miss Fame's album Beauty Marked - I feel like it could easily fit in that same category you described as Tatianna's and Jiggly's albums
Here are my favourite rugirl albums:
Anus by Alaska
Beauty Marked by Miss Fame
Taxidermy and PG-13 by Sharon Needles
Whatever by Adore Delano
Schubert' by Tammie Brown
Also Yvie, Shea and Aja's music is really good
I remember Laquifa by Shangela being on Dance Moms lol
Well I'm late to the party on this one. This is such a good and well-researched video! I also wanna give a shout out to Monet X Change - Her EP is one of my favorites of any Ru girl and Gently might be my favorite song of any of them. Blair outperforming any of RuPaul's albums on the Dance/Electronic charts I think proves that one of the queens beating Supermodel is inevitable.
Peppermint’s album A Girl Like Me is just amazing!!!
The Frock Destroyers>>>>
Hey, this video made me sub! I am so happy that you spent time talking about Willam, Alaska, and Blair's music as they are making maybe the most influential, important, iconic, and enjoyable music on the scene. Personally I would've enjoyed a mention of the AAA Girls or the Christmas Queens albums, but if everything I wanted got mentioned, we'd be here all week.
Some of my favourite drag music is SUKM by Monique Heart, Purse First (obvs), the whole Vagina album, Now Or Never by Blair, Jesse Jesse by Trixie, RuPaulogize by Willam, and obviously Read U Wrote U.
Amazing video! Thank you so much, I haven't really gone to the realm of RPDR girls music yet so it was really awesome to watch!
Love Courtney Act’s song: “Mean Gays”
with tiktok literally dominating the mainstream charts nowadays, I have no doubt the next "Supermodel" is approaching
Call My Life & Soak it Up remain two of my fave bops to date 🙌
The erasure of Monet Xchange Unapologetically (and gently) is sending me
Soak It Up, Beyonce, and There for You are all fantastic songs. Monet has one of the best voices of them all.
i wish we had 5 hours to go through all the ru girl queens tbh
weight by latrice remains in my list of best songs in existence honestly
Tatianna's "Hurt my feelings" is such an underrated bop
@TheDragDetective: Congrass for your great video !
trixies cover of Lana del Rey’s video games and bobs take my picture are great
thankyou for going to all this effort to make this, i just know this look a lifetime
As someone who's friend group is OBSESSED with Russian band Little Big, I honestly don't find Katya's music strange at all at this point lol
No real mention of Ginger Minj's Sweet T which is disappointing. Also, now Alaska is branching out into more rock music (check out her new song "wow")
Sad you did not talk about Raja’s moodbored, it’s probably my favorite ru girl son and has some of the visuals/fashions. It’s really overlooked.
wish he mentioned monet more, cause she has some serious potential to make it mainstream too
No mention of Monique - Shut Up and Kiss Me?? Are you okay?
I really loved amethyst journey by alaska and jeremy it felt so joanne era
i’m pretty sure adore’s first album is the highest charting album on the top 200 by a drag artist
Does Poppy Love from Celebrity Drag Race count ? 😅
Guess I am checking out a few albums.. Great video and I am excited to see how Ru" Girl" music expands
Monet made the best ever EP out of all the Rugirls with Unapologetically and people paid her dust.
The only rugirl music i listen to are the rosé and blair st clair
This video was so good. Thank you for that!
Great video! Could you please put warnings in for flashing lights? May be an issue for people who are photosensitive :)
YES BLAIR IS SO GOOD!
also i genuinely LIVE for aja and laganjas music
I would love to hear something from Viñas
Before the clip of Sharon Needles music video could you put an epileptic warning please.
Okay I know that She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is awful, but This Club is a Haunted House will always be a certified BOP
how do you not talk about courtney act music?
Excellent my favourite video of yours I've seen
Yes Marina!! Coming through with the good content! Lov
One of the best RuGirls Songs ever are
Sum Ting Wong CrossFire
Trexie All your moving parts
Jujubee Don‘t wanna love
Adore I can’t love you
Blair Empty
Daddy by Laganja was surprisingly good in my opinion (I know my music taste is trash)
Amazing video! 😍
This was a great video!
Cocky is the best song ever tbh!!
Sharon's music was and still is my favorite. She puts so much love into her music, image & the lyrics are great. She's an incredible artist!
Pearl’s album is actually pretty solid. Give it a listen
Agreed, loooove Bang Bang
It's homophobic that you didn't mention Jujubee
I know you didn't get as many views on this but I loved it
Shea Couleé’s album 8 is a GREAT album for a drag queen or not.
Most queens these days make 1 to 2 songs and then kinda just move on besides like Alaska and adore ig there aren't that many that I feel are actually serious about making music I see yvie has been putting a lot of time into hers though
Uk hun is only rugirls not RuPaul and that reached no.27 over here in the uk. It was played on BBC Radio One which trust me is a big deal
I love your videos, you got a new latinx fan.
This is so good.
Wasn’t LaQuifah a B. Ames mix...not an official Shangela song????
Hot couture is still a bop!
honestly Courtney's music was pretty awesome
In my opinion, Hot Couture has yet to be topped
lmao not boy manila in saharas video plsss
Pabllo ended all of them 💁♀️👑
I bought can I get a Amen,Coco & Alyssa was just too much
trixie is probably the best singer and artist to release music after drag race, i love her art
She’s definitely my favorite and I fucking love her music, but I wouldn’t say she’s the best singer of the girls. She’s more of a singer songwriter than a vocalist. Which is not a read, as I much prefer that.
Lmao i still don’t like Adore’s music but i think she’s one of the best singers in Drag Race. EDM is just not my cup of tea
WHERE 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 LOT 👏🏻MORE 👏🏻 ME 👏🏻
boy is a bottom stays as the best drag race song hahaha
Please put flash warnings on videos like this! Very triggering!
That's so rude and shady to refer to it as Willams music and song etc. It was the three of theirs...
This video is more cringe than most of the songs you mentioned... oof
Awh that’s not nice to hear 😥
@@DragDetective Don't listen to Poro. This video was very informative, and it was a great listen for me. I'm definitely way more interested in the Drag music scene after watching this, so I'd certainly say it was a success!
