- The country-blues rocker honors his musical upbringing with several callouts but singles out an "incredible piece of free-form, wild composition" with its odd bends and strange intervals.

I'm quite pleased to see people less than half my age groovin' on Richard Thompson! 👍
Went to school with Chris and remember listening to Robert Johnson and loads of blues from all different eras. Still have an old hofner Chris sold to me many moons ago and he's was and clearly still is an amazing player.
I've been hooked on this song since I heard the first three notes, over three decades ago. Nicely played, with unique variations and plenty of edge! The intro is the masterpiece, but I'd like to hear what the two of you would do with the entire song, words and all.
It’s amazing how a song played in a movie can touch people in the present the way it did me, 48yrs ago.
Thank you! Great playing. I first came across the live versions of this and Night Comes In on the Guitar, Vocal album when I was a teenager and they slaughtered me x
Actually begins talking about Richard Thompson and "Calvary Cross" at 2:40....
So great to play great music without trying to copy it but, to be inspired to play our inspiration from it. Thank you to my bandmates!
Cooooo....fab gear...maaaan!
Great job. Many thanks (especially for the pretty lady on the harmonium!)
Loved this video of yours! You are an excellent palyer!! My all-time favourite guitarists are and always have been Peter Green and Richard Thompson. I am just learning to play guitar a bit right now on a $200 Yamaha acoustic that had neen collecting dust since 1989, and a Squire Strat that is arriving next week. I will check out some of your other videos over the next few weeks. (Then) Play On!
Chris has always been a nice bloke 🤙🏻 and a great player too…
Cavalry cross ......? CALVARY,innit !
Great guitar, just a little disappointed you didn't do the song.
Killer! That ain't standard tuning, is it??
Now all you’ve got to do is learn the name of it.
Way to miss the point. Just play the song.
The introduction isn’t even the best part!
