    I just bought this watch. It’s a fun piece that gives me a lot of pleasure. Also MrJones is a great company to do business with .

    I just bought this watch for my husband and was struggling so hard to set the time... nowhere was it said to pull the dial instead of turn it. Thank you so much for reviewing this and saving me hours and hours of turning. Much love xx

      I'm glad it was helpful. I think some of the smaller watch companies might be so used to selling to collectors they forget not everyone is familiar with the crown settings on the watch. On the plus side you probably fully wound the mainspring for it to run!

    I just got the new edition of this same watch. The update is amazing. You don’t feel a thing. Sooo smooth.

    I have the King by Mr Jones and I simply can't see the time unless the light conditions are perfect and I pretty much need my reading glasses on just to see the hour display, the window is just a few millimetres wide, I'm also slightly colour blind where I have trouble seeing certain reds on white and guess what, the hour display is the "certain" red on a white background but as you perfectly explained. It's not my serious timepiece that I use for work, or the Crystal clear 44mm dinner plate driving/pilots watch I usually wear on my wrist while driving and knowing the time is important, for which a nano second flick of the wrist is all that is needed to see the time. It's a bit of flamboyant art on the wrist created by real artists and I love that.

      Hey! I'm looking to buy a king, if you'd be willing to part with it! Is there any way i can contact you?

    MJW sure are some of the most imaginative watches ever. It's like they're designed by children. Youthful and light-hearted, at least most of them are.

      Yes, I think the key is MJW seems to turn to artists (like artist artists) to do the watch designs. So, the positive there is you get some very unique, art-driven pieces. The negative is these artists often do not prioritize the time-telling so versus an objectively good *watch* design you often have a good artistic dial and things like ease of legibility of the time itself can be secondary. Depends on the artist. My general recommendation at those who like MJW (I've gotten more compliments on my MJW watches than any other) is have a "real" watch for when functional time-telling is needed and then get a MJW watch for fun stuff when you know you won't have to be all that concerned with the time.

      @@WatcheswithDennis yep. I think they're art pieces first and time pieces second.

    When the minutes display is in between _0 and _5 minutes, is it sometimes hard to tell what time it is? If you go to the 4:03 mark of this video, for example, it looks pretty difficult to me to make out what time it is... I can see the very top edge of the digits that are moving out of the window and the very bottom edge of the digits that are moving into the window, but otherwise the minutes window is an empty field of yellow.

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, it is sometimes hard, but not so much the minutes for me. I think it's because you can angle the watch on wrist to better see where the disc currently is at so you can often make out something at the edge, and the period of time before the next 5-increment is visible is pretty short. I struggle a lot more with the hour disc because it is sunken into the watch even more than the minutes disc, and so low-light situations (and I don't mean lights off, just dimmer environments in general) can be a challenge to read it.
      It's very much a watch about the artist design rather than the time-telling aspect. I have known several pinball people who got the watch but have gotten very frustrated with how hard it is to tell the time. As you can see, the time-telling aspect is a very small percentage of the watch dial. As such I don't wear it in any situations where time-telling is particularly important, just casual stuff.

      The watch designer did indicate, last week I think, that it is to go into the permanent Mr Jones Watches collection in 2022. I got the impression it will be fairly early on in the year but I might be reading a bit much into that. Regardless, it'll give everyone an opportunity to get one, which is good, I think these sold out in 26 minutes.

    Does this watch only moves minutes 5-5?

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  8 місяців тому

      No, it is a disc but only marked in 5 minute increments so the disc moves like a minute hand basically would but you cannot precisely tell what minute it is on via any marker. Only the hour disc actually "jumps" however.
