“Numerous defensive injuries” it’s like last year never ended

Is "Shorsey" gonna play for Ottawa or Pittsburgh?🤣🤣🤣
Nah. Shorsey can't push when he sh*ts. Four to six.
This trend of missed penalties leading to fights will change as the responders are losing player and get penalized atop of it... i expect the league to get way dirtier than we are used to less fights and more vicious hits as retaliation then we will see the retaliations to the retaliations. Laine skated into the zone and lazily tried to split defense with his feet wide apart. He put himself into an awful position and paid the price when the defenceman stood his ground. It's not a penalty when a player turns his back at the last second near the boards and this shouldn't be a penalty for the same reason. It's unfortunate but laine absolutely did it to himself.
@@ziggle5000 so if a high stick hit a players face by accident he should not get a penalty? way i see it players are responsible for their bodies intent or not is irrelevant. the action is penalized not the intent

P.S., The Sudbury Arena was an old, five-thousand-seat barn, when I went to games and concerts there, in the early 1980s.
Nice.
Arber had the right idea to stand up for his teammate, but I don't think he took off his gloves when he started throwing. This incident could've ended like Bertuzzi/Moore.
people keep trying to say that but this was nothing like Moore. Bertuzzi just jumped him out of the blue with zero warning. Xhekaj still had his gloves on because he tried to initiate the fight near the borders but Pare ran away and he had to chase him. Pare was fully aware he had someone after him before he felt the punches.
Xhekaj should have gotten a double digit game suspension. It was a clear attack. Borderline Criminal charges. It is almost identical to Bertuzzi incident.

I just realized that if you add the sound, “cul” to the end of arber xhekaj’s last name, it sounds like “Jack Eichel”
Random but yes.
Pare's penalty will be that he's a pariah in his home province for eternity
Sorry but if laine is going to skate like that he's going to get hurt. The move he was trying to make is begging for an injury. Pare isn't just going to let him go by for free and laine had his knee massively extended. Even trying to take the body normally there's a massive risk of knee on knee because of where laines skates are.
Ok there Jacque Lemaire.
All the people cheering on xhekaj and calling for suspension for pare were probably the same laughing at the leafs when Reilly got a 5 game suspension for the hit on Greig. A hit with significantly less violence than what xhekaj did.
Pare barely even moved, laine skated straight into him. I dont see how others see it a different way other than the "leaf hate" vision.
That said, I hope Laine is back for the first day of the regular season. I hate when injuries happen, doesnt matter who the player is
Has nothing to do with leaf hate. The reaction is entirely skilled player (plus highly anticipated redemption story) gets hurt 4 minutes into his first game in a year by a Career AHL player who was going a little too hard. Its not really Pare's fault, he stood his ground, which is what he should do, in a bad place with the other Leaf player right beside him and Laine with no where else to really go between them. Still in this situation given the knee on knee and injury it is expected that someone will step up to fight Pare. Pare ran from that challenge though which resulted in Xhejak having to chase him down, which he should not have done and should have just get dogging him, but it was barely a minute after and tempers were still flared. If Pare had just dropped the gloves like expected it probably would have ended in a couple of wild fist throws and a tie-up like most fights.
As an habs fan, I'm disgusted by Paré's hit on Laine. At his age, he should've known better and not bring out his knee. But I'm even more disgusted by what's happening right now : the hate Paré is getting online is worse than the hit! I'm disgusted by parts of our fandom, cyber bullying never solved anything, it just makes everything worse... I hope Laine comes back sooner than later and if he's out for a while I hope it won't affect his mental health. Can't wait to see him back on the ice for the habs
Don't forget the Hab fans that want to end Auston Matthews career too - disgusting, how Canadien fans ever got this "classy" reputation is a mystery to me.
@@MrMaxtaurus honestly, I never heard the word "classy" used to describe Mtl fandom. When people complaint about Toronto's worst-kind-of-passionate fans, I keep thinking "aren't the Habs' fans the same?"
Whether or not he would ever end up serving the suspension is rather irrelevant. You slam a suspension on him to make a point, and also to guarantee that he never gets a chance to play in the NHL.
He is 25, has never played a game and isn't likely to ever do so. I am not slamming the idea of suspending him. He can still play in the AHL. That's my point. If you're going to suspend in one, enforce it in the other.
Not a suspension worthy play. Laine tried to bust thru him with his knee exposed
I don't mean to be that guy, but Laine needs to keep his head up and have better situational awareness.
Pare had no business even being on the ice. He easily could have avoided that contact but chose to commit to the intentional dirty hit.
I don't like either team so I'm completely unbiased here.
A nobody took out a great player (highest paid on the team) and nobody really makes a stink.
Imagine if the Habs brought a nobody from their d league team up and that guy hit Matthews like that 🤷 the world would have a mental breakdown and i'd bet anything that you wouldn't say "matthews needs to learn how to keep his head up" .....
I've asked leafs fans this scenario and they immediately lose all brain function and go full "RRRREEEEEE" about it. The double standard is absurd.
The leafs coach should be held as much accountable as Pare for the dirty hit.
Either Pare doesn't know how to adjust his body to deliver a hit (he's not ready for the nhl) and the coach knew it but played him anyway.
Or, Pare knew exactly what he was doing (intentional dirty hit) and likely the coach told him to do it.
These are the only 2 scenarios. So the way I see it, the entire line should have jumped on Pare and ended his career for it, then went after the coach. The league needs to reassess this incident and hold the leafs accountable. Pare had no business in that situation. I'm a crippled old man and I bet I could still out play that talentless bum. I'm tired of seeing the leafs do this crap.
laine took himself out lmao. Splitting the defense with your legs like that in the preseason is comically stupid. It would be stupid to do it in a game that mattered let alone in preseason. You seem like a rambling senile maniac though so idk why I even responded to you
@@winkletown8828 wasn't intentional 🤡
Laine tried to split two defenders with his legs 4 feet apart… Laine is at fault here. Habs fans will never see that.
Neither would a leaf fan if the situation was reversed. Its kind of the nature of sports. Pare stood his ground as he should have, he did it in a bad place with the other leaf player there and Laine was committed to his move and leg kind of between them. People blame Pare for going "too hard" in a pre-season game but even though we all know he is likely a career AHL player he is still fighting for his dream of the NHL. Laine was also super rusty having not played in a year and how many players in the same situation come back and end up hurt again because their body and mind isn't as sharp as it normally is. 2 or 3 games into the season and Laine probably would not have attempted that split
Pare tried it again later same game on Hutson. Something needs to be done.

At the time, according to some "fans", Subban was going to be the next great puck moving D man, and Madden could be the next Elias Pettersson.
Much Love Xhekaj
Pare saying he did not mean it is a tad weak, and if this happened to Matthews, Mariner or Nylander the Leafs would be screaming enough to wake the dead ! Not crazy about the WAY Arber went after Pare, but a message had to be sent. It's all just half measure to pretend they actually did something. Both Xhekaj and Pare should be suspended. Even if it's just one game, idc. Apply the rulebook.
Pare is unlikely to ever actually play in the NHL, so what would a suspension do when he would still be eligible to play in the AHL?
@@TheHockeyGuycan apply in the unlikely event he gets a callup?
@@TheHockeyGuy it would mean the NHL actually applied the rulebook AND it would actually devastate Pare's career because even if he was to be called up, hed be suspended, pretty much ending any chance of playing in the NHL.
Besides, a player's situation shouldn't apply to wether he gets punished or not. If your child beats up a kid last day of high school, are you gonna let it slide because he's never going back to that school again?
Also, the more I think about it... precedent. Do we let career AHLers run wild during preseason because they are unlikely to ever play in the NHL?
I sincerely think 'Pare is an AHLer so why bother?' Is a bad take.
My point is a suspension might be warranted, but Pare is 25 and has never played a game in the NHL. How is he devastated when he still gets to play in the AHL which is where he's headed anyway. It seems like once every couple of preseasons we see something like this involving a career AHL player.
If you look at my first post, you can infer my issue is that suspended NHL players still get to play in the AHL.
@@TheHockeyGuy well, speaking strictly for Pare, Im sure he still has NHL ambition, the devastation would come from the fact any chance at a call up would be destroyed. Obvisouly the real solution would be for nhl/ahl suspensions to run in either league, that way all players would have the same skin in the game, but I dont expect the NHL, NHLPA and the AHL to ever bother with it.
It all comes down to not liking half measures and selective rule application. Even Xhekaj. Isnt being ejected from a game followed by at least a game suspension? Am I wrong about that? If so, that basicaly means they only fined him because Pare wasnt injured... ignoring the issue of assaulting the player all together.
THE NHL IS A JOKE. $5000 fine. Why even bother if it’s not going to be a deterrent. It’s the appearance of the league pretending they give a shit.
If your not gonna penalize a clear kneeing motion then NHLPS shouldn't be surprised that a teammate goes after the player. Almost asking him to get fined.
Just checking in that we're still overreacting about Michkov. A few years ago in NFL football a chart came out about who was cheering for who. There were three colors. A teeny pocket of Patriots fans. The rest of the country for the other team. And a small circle around Philadelphia saying we were still happy about the Super Bowl a year or two prior and didn't care. And they were right. Michkov taking the shot on a 2-1 in a meaningless OT preseason game was so exciting since that was a pass by every other Flyer for the last several years. We'll take it and just try to have fun this year where we can.
Frk needs the AHL so he can win the hardest shot competition again. As we're being robbed, ROBBED of an All Star Game in the NHL this year with the Four Nations, he has to go down to get his chance there.
Overreacting about Michkov? He has been seen as one of the most talented young players in the world for years now. He's going to be a star in the league.

Imagine if Pare seriously injured Laine with that knee on knee hit. Oh wait, he did. And not even a minor penalty was given
He did go pretty far but I wish Pare also got some consequences for his reckless conduct regarding Laine. Refs need to take control of the game and if Pare had gotten thrown in the sin bin Xhekaj probably wouldn’t have done what he did. Plus Pare likely seriously injured Laine.

@@politicalbandwagon4989 That was two players colliding as a result of a regular hockey play. I'm not going to argue with you about this, Pare didn't stick his knee out to try and injure someone. Let's be honest, Xhekaj should not even be fined for what he did. He defended a teammate getting injured on a dirty intentional play. The refs should've done their job and should have ejected Paré from that game. They acted blind and Xhekaj took matters into his own hands.

@@TheHockeyGuy I remember just off the top of my head when the Perry/JT incident happened, Foligno went after Perry and fought him right after. Hunting season is open on the Montreal Canadiens players. This was a perfect move to cripple a player. When a Montreal Canadiens player commits a vicious act, it's never acceptable in Montreal. The Max Domi sucker punch on Ekblad was denounced by all observers in Montreal. This is the difference between Montreal and Toronto.
PS: A very large number of Toronto fans even consider that Laine is responsible, mythomania reigns in the Queen City.
Sure thing
Insane delusion? Yup, it is a Canadiens fan. Nothing to see here.
im a leafs fan and i dont think lane is responsible
Montreal fans are the biggest crybabies when one of their players gets hurt. Lars Eller get hurt on a perfectly clean hit in that playoff series vs. Ottawa a few years back and the team and city becomes so unhingedthat the team spends the rest of the series trying to get revenge and ends up getting blown out and the local politicos start demanding parliamentary action. And it turns out Eller's injuries weren't from the hit but because he hit his face on the ice when he fell.
Xhekaj is one of the dirtiest players in the league. Montreal fans should expect more disciplinary action in the future if he doesn't change his game.
I do NOT like Xhekaj, but that fine was BS. The hit from some AHL bum deserved a serious beating. I do NOT like the Habs or Xhekaj, but I vehemently disagree with the fine.
