As an ex carer there is no excuse for the care staff not attending to this. It comes under the auspices of homely remedies and should be recorded on the meds sheet. They should refer to the GP after 48 hours but that shouldn't be a problem. I know how difficult it is to be a carer and how easy it is to have things fall through the cracks but she shouldn't have had to put up with this for over a decade.
I'm curious to know even with her not thinking there was any issue with her hearing did she realize there was a difference making it better after removal? Are regular just subscribers not able to do any comments? @@AudiologyAssociatesUK
As someone who has worked in care for years, there is absolutely no excuse. The only thing I can suggest for future patients in care homes would be to write a letter to the care home to be taken back with the client instructing them on how to proceed, and with what products. Once they have it in writing from a professional they are a lot more likely to take the required action, rather the daughter just passing on verbal instructions on her mums behalf. Many care homes are unable to use PRN and over the counter medications, even just olive oil ear drops with9ut written instruction from a professional
Bless you both! That woman deserves to have clear ears in the winter of her life. Your care makes it a pleasure to have the procedure done because of your expertise and your kindness & compassion. Bravo, gentlemen!👍🏼😎 P.S. Richard from The Wax Wizard mentioned a collaboration. I love you all and think a collaboration is a fab idea! Go for it, gents!
Hi Rhys and Taylor. Just joined as a member, happy to be supporting the channel. What I love most besides watching the removals, which is very satisfying, is both of your commitment to patient care, your care and concern for your patients comes across in every video I watch. This won't I imagine be limited to the two of you whose faces we see but throughout your organisation. So here's to you both and every other person who works with you. keep up the good work.
You two did a wonderful job taking care of this sweet old lady. My mom is in her 90’s and she’ll get anxious over things that never bothered her before. So thank you for giving her hearing and comfort back.
Bless you guys for not giving up. Just goes to show how much you care . And I don’t blame her for flinching. Having all that in there for all those years, it had to feel weird coming out. Hope Taylor has a nice holiday!
Chock-a-block and tough as old boots are my favorites! While I know what they mean, they just don’t say it in the US…. At least not in Virginia. Bye, y’all! ❤
Thank-you for caring for this sweet woman. She must be so happy to hear better... A big relief for her too... something to not worry about as she ages, she has her hearing!!!
BIG 👍UP FOR THE PAIR OF YOU !!! That deserves a 🥇 for wat you 2 did , for that poor lady , it’s just incredibly nice and very professional to ! I also want to remind the both of you , don’t forget to make your promise come true about coming together with the big 5 for a Q&A ! Nurse Richard is really looking forward to it ! Nevertheless great job guys , love you both , see you soon . 🇧🇪😘
Great job helping her out. I know Neel has some new tools. They are very good at hard wax. Maybe they would have been able to help you with your case. Great audiologist + great tools=best outcomes
The lady as both of you guys said was a real trooper. Also I would like to know when you all are going to do a collaboration with Nurse Richard? Also I would like to say guy you both are superstars because you both care so much about the people you see in clinic.
My Wee Mum’s left ear is completely blocked even though I administer olive oil drops every second evening. I tried to use sodium bicarbonate drops but it was sore for her. We have an appointment at ENT soon so I hope it will help x
I'm wondering where "tough as old boots 👢 comes on the Neel's list of 7 types of wax. 😂. I know his is more serious but we need a Rhys and Taylor scale. Cornflakes, chewing gum, magic sand, I think mince pies even mentioned once 🤔 even baby's arm😂.
Swansea! I lived in Llanelli, thought you were in North Wales. Love to listen to you talking, takes me way back, you do such good work and are so gentle to your patients. God Bless you, regards from Australia 🤗❤️
FYI: in Australia it seems to be trained in ear wax removal using irrigation or microsuction (which are both one day courses from what I could see) you have to be a medical practitioner (eg GP or ENT or ED), audiologist, registered nurse, or enrolled nurse., No novices.
That was great. So much wax and dead skin the dear ladies ear. Glad you were able to help her. Ok so Richard seems very keen for a collaboration with you two plus Conor and Neel. That would be fabulous. Go for it. ❤❤
I recently had microsuction on both ears as the hear'g aid Co. thot I had ear perforations abd the black dot n.side my ear they called a 'shadow'. It looked like a straw and the suction was kind of unerv'g but I endured. They did a pressure ✔ and everything was good. Seems like my hear'g fluctuated 2 the back burners. ❤😊 I think every Care Home needs an ENT,Audiologists,Podiatrist.
Great video as always. Enjoy your vacation! Please be careful with your channel, 2 of my other favorite creators have been hacked and lost all their videos. Make sure your password is strong 💪.
Think the order has to given by the GP. So the audiologists have to request the GP send the Order to the Rn/Sister. In charge so the administration can be carried out
Nice work for getting it done! Quick question: I know you have that irrigation machine that help dislodge wax, would this have helped in this case or not??
I just posted this comment on your video from two years ago (number 500) where you did the client side demo. I am fervent enough that I hope you see this that I will repost here on your most recent. "I am sure you folks won't see this after two years but I still have to say how great it is that you posted a cleaning from the client point of view. Both because I was wondering how this all actually came down in the office, and because after seeing a lot of really impacted ear wax I wondered what my ears looked like. I am sure I have never had trouble. But now when I go in for my physical I plan to ask my GP what I look like. I used to do the cotton swab every day making sure I protected the ear drum. I have in recent years reluctantly cut down on that. I now understand what can happen. As of this video! I didn't know there was that much wax that I can push down. I never want for someone to have to pull huge plugs out of my ears! Good job."
That poor patient was probably hearing better than she has in years after all that gunk was removed. I can only imagine how relieved she must have felt when it was all over.
Omg this is so satisfying. I like these videos better than pimple popping. I would to see the inside of my ears and my son’s. He’s had 18 sets of tube over his 23 years. Chronic ear problems for both of us to the point that if I get water in my ears I panic.
My 23 year old son had tympanoplasty surgery at 7 years old, due to grommets surgery leaving a hole in the eardrum that didn't heal naturally. He's had really bad dark wax issues ever since. Could the wax production be linked to the surgery?
i think i’ve heard Neel say the standard size is 2.8 ml. outside dimension & the small one is 1.7 outside, 1.3 inside. i might be slightly off but im in the ballpark as we say 😂
I have small ears and ear canals so I understand the patient’s side of this. I have never been in pain when my ears have had to be cleaned out but the first time I had cleaned as an adult, it does feel really weird because you can feel it trying to move. To me, it feels like part of my ear is trying to turn inside out. As hard as you try not to flinch, the body will take over. I always turn the radio down when I go inside because the second that wax moves, sounds are so amplified and then you hear things you haven’t heard in so long that you forget that you should be able to hear.
I have had 5 mastoidectomy s my ears must be a bit of a mess inside hard of hearing now because of it not deaf but my hearing is impaired by it all 🤔 thats 3 times one side 2 time's other ear lol.

Well said my friend well said! I too have seen let's call them "oversites" and every aspect of care should not only be done but recorded as well
I worked in a care home and would have pulled over the coals if one of my residents ears were in such a state poor woman suffering this neglect 😮
Right? For 7+ years, this is elder abuse in the US and would be a case to have protective services called to mitigate.
Yes. Retired Geriatric Nurse here. No excuse!
Nurse here. 30 years experience, 10 years of age care. Same thing from me.
And the Golden Ear Award goes to...Rhys and Taylor for giving that poor lady some relief! Great job, fellas! 👍
Thank you
I'm curious to know even with her not thinking there was any issue with her hearing did she realize there was a difference making it better after removal?

She’s going to sit outside and listen to the grass grow after this cleaning!
HAHA!
thats funny
😂
I think so lol
You really need to do a podcast. About literally anything. You’re hilarious together and this American loves your accents!

As a Nurse working in a care home the mantra was used - if it’s not written down it didn’t happen. Written instructions are crucial.
Good case management is also crucial. It sounds like there was a serious lack of continuity of care coordination.
That leads to tons of problems.
Aww bless her, 10 years of that wax being in there she must have been so happy when you got it out xx
She was such a lovely lady. Yes both her and her daughter were really pleased to get it out 😊
Late 90s? Oh my word, bless her dear soul.
I said it before but love how you two get along, you both seem like such sweet and kind men

Love how gentle and thorough you gents are. What a gift to give someone back their hearing.
I worked in a care home and yes they are short staffed but it’s still no excuse not to follow instructions for the comfort of the residents
I agree. All workplaces are understaffed, but popping a couple of drops into a couple of ears is not asking for much.
And it literally only takes 30 seconds.

That would be an amazing collab!!

I'm glad you helped her...I bet she's relieved too!
Thank-you for caring for this sweet woman. She must be so happy to hear better... A big relief for her too... something to not worry about as she ages, she has her hearing!!!

She was lovely and an absolute star
What do you recommend for someone who uses ear plugs regularly? Is there a regular treatment I can do at home that will help prevent build up?
I’m always very impressed by the caring attitude you both demonstrate to your clients 🙏
Your kindness to this older lady is truly great care you both gave her. Bless you both.
Iowa here. Steve.
Wow. What a treat, to see this and the weird mastoid wax removal on the same day. Membership rocks! Cheers from the US!
Glad youre liking the membership 😊
Good job. Thank you for helping her.
Wow, she’ll now get clearer hearing. God bless you all. ❤
Absolutely amazing removal guys! So happy for the sweet old woman you helped!!❤❤❤
Thank you
Good on you guys, so cool the joy you have brought this 'young' lady. 🙏
Good Evening Mr. B and Taylor G. You can do it ‼️👊🏽👍🏽‼️🇺🇲🇺🇸
Bless that lady! She was so brave! 10 years is a long time to have that much wax buildup in there!
Great job helping her out. I know Neel has some new tools. They are very good at hard wax. Maybe they would have been able to help you with your case. Great audiologist + great tools=best outcomes
Well done Rhys & Taylor. Wonderful relief for the elderly lady. A real team effort. 👏❤️

God bless the both of you. Well done!
Yes, absolutely standing appointments for every six months! I’m sure from now on that will happen. Thanks guys. You’re the best.

excellent idea!!!
I think Neel’s tool’s would have come in more handy in this case!

Great job fellas. You were so sweet to this lady❤❤

I work in an Assisted living in the US. I was licensed to administer meds. If it was on here orders there is no excuse.

Well, another fantastic job😍 Super Hero 😍😍
Nice work for getting it done! Quick question: I know you have that irrigation machine that help dislodge wax, would this have helped in this case or not??
Wow! Surprised there were no complications arising from having all that debris in the ear for 10 years. Well done guys.
Melhora a audição com a retirada ?
It was just as good the second time
Have a great Weekend Waxaholics!!!! Xx
You too
I just posted this comment on your video from two years ago (number 500) where you did the client side demo. I am fervent enough that I hope you see this that I will repost here on your most recent.

Wow! That was an incredible removal.
Ear drum looks pretty good considering she’s 90!
That was SO awesome! My mom used to have really blocked ears. I bet she feels 100% better.❤
Bravo! Well done!
What would olive oil and baking soda do to your ear?
That poor patient was probably hearing better than she has in years after all that gunk was removed. I can only imagine how relieved she must have felt when it was all over.
A wax convention with all u tube wax removers would be great
Omg this is so satisfying. I like these videos better than pimple popping. I would to see the inside of my ears and my son’s. He’s had 18 sets of tube over his 23 years. Chronic ear problems for both of us to the point that if I get water in my ears I panic.
Hi, Which premises are you using?
Use and try different instruments too.. like angle grip so and so
Does the average ear get this way? Or more specifics cases? Like how common is heavy buildup?
Awe! God Bless Her❤️
she probably has eagle ears now, all of the sound waves can finally reach the eardrum!
Holy -crap-a-doodles, gent's great job on this ladies ears
"chockablock" and "tough as old boots" are my favorite medical terms! 😊
My 23 year old son had tympanoplasty surgery at 7 years old, due to grommets surgery leaving a hole in the eardrum that didn't heal naturally. He's had really bad dark wax issues ever since. Could the wax production be linked to the surgery?
What causes the wax to form and collect in the ear? And why do some people end up with these large deposits of earwax while other people do not?
i think i’ve heard Neel say the standard size is 2.8 ml. outside dimension & the small one is 1.7 outside, 1.3 inside. i might be slightly off but im in the ballpark as we say 😂
I am surprised as to how unmessy that eardrum is, given the patient's age and length of time yhe plug had been in there!
We were too. This was such a difficult removal for both me and Taylor
Makes me wonder what the total wax removed for all 4 visits was 🤔
I have small ears and ear canals so I understand the patient’s side of this. I have never been in pain when my ears have had to be cleaned out but the first time I had cleaned as an adult, it does feel really weird because you can feel it trying to move. Dadburn ! That was awesome ! West 🤠 Texas Watching ❤
Wow, good job guys
Awesome job !!!!!!!
Are you a totally private practice or do you do NHS referrals?
Are you trying to fill up everyone’s bingo cards, early with all your catchphrases? Ha Ha
WAS SHE ABLE TO HEAR BEFORE THIS PROCEDURE?
You guys need to sell tshirts with Audiology Associates - Tough as Old Boots.
SO SATISFYING 😂🎉
I have had 5 mastoidectomy s my ears must be a bit of a mess inside hard of hearing now because of it not deaf but my hearing is impaired by it all 🤔 thats 3 times one side 2 time's other ear lol.
Wow!❤ 8:46
Wouldn't a water flush have helped them get it out on the initial visit?
