Akane's a marvel. I remember the first time I heard a Band-Maid song (Domination in this case): one of the first things I noticed was how unorthodox and creative her drumming was relative to other rock drummers I'd heard. Yet somehow it all fits the song perfectly. She has that ability to push the envelope, but never detract from the flow of the song.
Soba bowls are really small like a deep saucer. Akane has a lovely voice but that was Akane miming while Saiki was actually singing. She was goofing around. She sang backup for Saiki at the Christmas concert 2021 on at least one song. That concert was a highpoint in my 65 year old life enjoying the magic of music! They were not dressed as maids but had outfits with the colors of Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer! Love your reactions!
You're right. Seeing them as youngsters lets you see them as ordinary people who have put in the time and effort to become extraordinary musicians. It's easy to idolize musicians who do seemingly magical things but they are just people, after all. My older sister got her masters in music performance. She married a mortgage banker. When they would have parties, he wanted to talk music to her friends, and they wanted to talk about house loans to him, lol. I think both sides were equally mystified by the arcane knowledge the other seemed to have.
I’m excited for you, and your upcoming Band Maid concert! I saw them in DC last October and, at 56, I considered it a “bucket list” concert. It was everything I wanted and more. I want to see them again but, for now, I’m very happy for the maidiacs like yourselves who will be getting their first live Band Maid experience.
Great little mini docs. When l went to my first Band-Maid concert in LA in 2019 there were people from all over in line. The champ was Dave MISA, MISA, MISA Cook who flew from Australia just to see two shows and then return home. Just today l have been talking to a guy who is flying into Sacramento from the Yukon Territory. That's right. North of 60 in the great white north. He will be there with us in line. And this has been my experience with these first four shows. People go to incredible lengths to see and follow these women. See you at Ace of Spades.
17:49 Akane was lip syncing🙄🤣 FYI: Band-Maid and Mochi-to-Cheese performed in the same festival, BakuJo Sai (爆女祭: Explosive Women festival), in 2015. Kanami's first two composed songs which were professionally released were for Mochi-to-Cheese.

@@PsiBellaMusic Thank you ! I can't wait to hear you on the one on Miku (in 3 parts) as it's one I worked the hardest on
彼女は独創性、スピード、パワー、正確無比なリズムキープ、パターンの複雑さどれを取ってもピカイチです。世界最高峰のドラマーが band maidにいるという事実だけで感激と喜びで総毛立つ思いです。

Exactly right. She is just off camera.
Akane's miming so was so well done that if you didn't know you really would think she was singing. Her actual singing voice is just as powerful tho :)

Akane is 5'6" making her the 2nd tallest member of BAND-MAID.
Akane's good friend and shopping buddy, Haruna Ono of SCANDAL, has also done 100 bowls at Wanko Soba.
Thanks guys!
