Sonically and lyrically I think it would fit, invoking Sora and Kairi wanting to be together even at the end his life or the end of the world, such as the Keyblade War. Darenimo Iwanai is probably my favorite Utada songs outside of KH. It's a smooth jazzy song with electronics sprinkled throughout & the lyrics can be very relatable

im not a kh fan, but this appeared on my reccommended bc im a hugeeeee hikki fan! for several years i have been saying that hikki so underrated in the west! theyre so talented and im so happy you mentioned their discography and to listen to it bc they have made many of my all time favorite songs! hikki also writes all of their lyrics and theyre so poetic and beautiful. their early albums are timeless and my favorites out of their discography. hikki is super versatile and experimental with their music that anyone can enjoy. i love hikki so much and its so cool to see you taking a dive into their music!
KH got me into Utada Hikaru's music. I think my curreny non KH favorite is Can You Keep a Secret? One Last Kiss and Traveling are also very good (I like a lot of her songs).

My fav song is probably Travelling--but specifically the version they performed in their 2006 tour Utada United. The bridge breaks down in such a cool way, as the song's instrumental begins to prepare for Moving On Without You. (Side note, Travelling would also be a good contender for a KH theme song sonically, and the beginning of the Ray of Hope remix of Simple and Clean even samples it at the very beginning)

Anata and Forevermore from the hatsukoi album would make good opening and ending themes for kh4, especially with them having classical/jazz sounds to them which would match and continue the theme of memory of melody which was solely about kairi and her attemps at finding sora.
Fun fact for everyone that doesn't know, she's mentioned that Simple and Clean is actually two of her Japanese songs combined, Uso Mitai na I love you and Hikari. While Uso Mitai na I love you is a great song, beat wise to me will feel very out of place. Only way I would see it fitting in is if she remade the song. Also the fact that it has already been used already kinda lower its chances as well. Not sure how to describe it but all the themes for the KH just felt like it fit. Lyrics wise and beat wise it did not feel out of place.
Utada never fails to make me cry with her music. My favorite one is one last kiss from the evangelion 4th movie it's my favorite because it matches with the main character shinji and his desperation for peace.
This is such a creative thought exercise, loved the video! The fact that so much of their discography could apply to the story is just wild, as if Kingdom Hearts is interwoven with a preexisting “Utadaverse” of sorts 😆. I’d love for them to return to the same album that Simple and Clean came off of (even if it’s 20 years old already 😵), as I think it’d be an implicit message to listeners that Sora’s entered a “new” beginning that harkens back to his first one. I’d love to see any of these used as the new opening, though my personal favorite from Utada these days is DISTANCE (m-flo remix) 😍.
Sentimental favorite is "Hanataba o Kimi ni". I think it's a song for her late mother. I listen to this song when my mom passed away and it helped the pain soften.
One thing to remember is that Utada Hikaru also wrote "Chikai"/"Don't Think Twice" as the ending theme for KH3, and that song actually has different lyrics depending on the language. So, it's reasonable to think that she might write both opening and ending themes for KH4 too. Generally speaking, I'd expect them to poetically align with some of the original concepts for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, since Nomura and Yoko Shimomura are both clearly pulling a lot from that work with regards to Quadratum, Yozora, Sora's haircut, and this seeming to be a "fantasy based on reality". I would expect similar parallels to pop up more and more in this game.
I've always headcannoned I Love You as a theme for CoM, cuz of the Simple and Clean/Hikari leitmotif. But this would be nice. Also Distance(especially the M-flo remix) would also be an amazing contender Edit: also Somewhere Near Marseilles and Time Limit SLAP
As much as I would love an upbeat song from Hikaru’s discography, I think something mellow and somber would be very fitting for potentially the end to this storyline. Something like a mix between Yuunagi and Nokoriga (both regarding the passing of their mother). The lyrics similar in theme, the composition could be grander. Once again everyone has been separated and for this instance the roles have changed for majority of the characters. Everyone is alienated in some shape or form, and the lyrics for both of Utada’s song’s previously mentioned discuss confusion, the inevitable, and grief; so I feel like the last them song should be intimate and emotional just like the title screen music for the series. It has to have that same impact of “this is the beginning of the end and the ending of a beginning”.
I've thought that Michi would make a great KH song before too! Another one I think could maybe work is Kimi Ni Muchuu. Something about the instrumentals feels new yet very Kingdom Hearts-esque. (Find Love is a banger. My favorite is probably Manatsu No Toriame off of Fantome. It's so beautiful both musically and lyrically.😭)
I love all of them (except i haven't been able to like Face my Fear's dubstep part, yet, just not my preference) but Sanctuary tops all KH opening/ending songs for me (so far) 🥰 well my first KH game was KH2, so it may be more special to me due to how awestruck i was when i first watched KH2 opening and replayed the early parts of the game over and over again. It's also why Twilight Town feels like home to me and i got Pavlov'ed that my brain and body automatically relaxes when i hear Lazy Afternoon
My favorite from Utada Hikaru has always been Sakura, also from the Deep River album. It is so emotionally driven and the perfect way to open up the album!
So personally I do think the songs you gave an opinion on fit but I think theres one missing that was in the live recording sessions album where she sung "About me" like hearing it over and over again in my head I just think "yep this might be the next KH intro"

I hope they use utada’s song “final distance” but rearranged of maybe have some lines play in backwards. I feel it fits the theme of trying so hard to reach the other person even though the distance keeps growing with one of them keeps saying we’re almost there. even if ur feeling hopeless, every small effort counts.
I do feel like distance m flo remix could work as an opening but I don’t know if final distance would be a good idea considering the background of the song and why it was rearranged.

i havent listened to their entire discog yet so im pausing the video to go listen to the songs as soon as you say their titles, then coming back after to hear your thoughts and explanations i fucking ADORE Another Chance after first listen. it's a 5 1/2 minute song that feels like it flies by in 2 minutes and i love that EDIT 1: omg the chorus in Michi is SO GOOD EDIT 2: yup, when i get a new amp im DEFINITELY learning I Love You on guitar lol the main riff reminds me a LOT of One Step Closer by Linkin Park ngl. and you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about the chorus having a melody similar to S&C. my theory is that while Utada was writing the English version of Hikari, they couldn't come up with any good enough English lyrics to fit the original chorus melody, so they re-used the I Love You melody instead.
I couldn't help but buy all of Hikaru's vinyl that got repressed this year. It so nice to hear The KH themes on vinyl. Deep River is my favorite album by Hikaru. Start to finish. I love you is my favorite on that album but my favorite Hikaru Utada song is First Love.
Honestly I think Hymn for the Missing by Red would fit perfectly given what you presented as it starts out with "We tried to walk together but the light was growing dark, I thought you were beside me but I reached and you where gone" Which can easily be seen from Kairis perspective as Sora and her wanted to just say by eachother and be close to there friends unfortunately because of his abuse if the power of waking he's no longer there beside her and despite everything Kairi does from training with Yinsid to learning under Aqua, to even going into her fractured memories of her past to search for a clue for Sora's whereabouts, he's gone despite him saying as you said "I love you" he was gone before she could react to him saying it. "Sometimes I hear you calling From some lost and distant shore I hear you crying softly For the way it was before" Which can be seen from Sora's perspective as for instance in the case of KH2 when Sora literally Skype called Kairi through Roxas's heart as there's connected through Sora Kairi can easily be the one calling from there Shore in destiny island just for one more chance for things to be like they were once when they were care free kids before Sora Bumblefucked his way into destiny. "Where are you now? Are you lost? Will I find you again? Are you alone? Are you afraid? Are you searching for me? Why did you go? I had to stay Now I'm reaching for you Will you wait? Will you wait? Will I see you again?" This part is repeated twice but is easily seen from both of there perspectives as there longing for there lost loved one after having faced so many tribulations and trials that in all accounts they technically still weren't ready for but because duty called they had to go and as they wonder through the worlds looking for one another it's almost melancholic about how there hearts have been lost and are trying to reconnect "You took it with you when you left These scars are just a trace Now it wanders lost and wounded This heart that I misplaced" This can be easily seen in Kairis perspective because at mainly at the end of KH3 Sora is taken away after probably saying I love you to Kairi and she finally gets to hear what she wanted to hear but unfortunately because he was taken away her heart wonders, Should she move on, should she just give up entirely after basically no leads until the last bit I. Melody of memory when she confronted Xehanort her heart was lost and wounded after everything. But thats just me and tbh while it fits it's a ballad and I highly doubtful anyone wants a slow song as the previous 3 title tracks were you know made for a fast transitions and battles but I just love Red and not enough people know about them unless your one of a few in America and mostly well known in Russia

The clear big brain 500iq choice would be the song 'Kiss and Cry' Let me explain In the bridge leading to the 2nd chorus Utada sings these lines: "みんな夜空のパイロット" (Everyone's a night pilot) Referring to how at this current point in the story, despite thwarting Xehanort which should have solved all problems everyone still has to navigate through darkness to reunite (most obviously seen at the end with Donald and Goofy literally searching through pure darkness) "孤独を癒すムーンライト" (The moonlight healing their lonliness) The bonds of each character are now the clearest they've been. Everybody knows and understands the importance to what each friendship they have means. So despite piloting at night, they won't succumb to darkness and lose their way anymore because the moonlight is healing their loneliness on their journeys. "今日は日清CUP NOODLE" (Tonight I'll have Cup Noodle) I mean obviously Cup Noodles are very important. They were integral to the story of Final Fantasy 15. You know who made Final Fantasy 15? That's right, Square Enix. You know what else Square Enix made?.....yeah you fill in the gap.

The fact that so much of their discography could apply to the story is just wild, as if Kingdom Hearts is interwoven with a preexisting “Utadaverse” of sorts 😆. I’d love for them to return to the same album that Simple and Clean came off of (even if it’s 20 years old already 😵), as I think it’d be an implicit message to listeners that Sora’s entered a “new” beginning that harkens back to his first one.
I’d love to see any of these used as the new opening, though my personal favorite from Utada these days is DISTANCE (m-flo remix) 😍.
Sentimental favorite is "Hanataba o Kimi ni". I think it's a song for her late mother. I listen to this song when my mom passed away and it helped the pain soften.

One thing to remember is that Utada Hikaru also wrote "Chikai"/"Don't Think Twice" as the ending theme for KH3, and that song actually has different lyrics depending on the language. So, it's reasonable to think that she might write both opening and ending themes for KH4 too. Generally speaking, I'd expect them to poetically align with some of the original concepts for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, since Nomura and Yoko Shimomura are both clearly pulling a lot from that work with regards to Quadratum, Yozora, Sora's haircut, and this seeming to be a "fantasy based on reality". I would expect similar parallels to pop up more and more in this game.

As much as I would love an upbeat song from Hikaru’s discography, I think something mellow and somber would be very fitting for potentially the end to this storyline. Something like a mix between Yuunagi and Nokoriga (both regarding the passing of their mother). The lyrics similar in theme, the composition could be grander. Once again everyone has been separated and for this instance the roles have changed for majority of the characters. Everyone is alienated in some shape or form, and the lyrics for both of Utada’s song’s previously mentioned discuss confusion, the inevitable, and grief; so I feel like the last them song should be intimate and emotional just like the title screen music for the series. It has to have that same impact of “this is the beginning of the end and the ending of a beginning”.
I've thought that Michi would make a great KH song before too! Another one I think could maybe work is Kimi Ni Muchuu. Something about the instrumentals feels new yet very Kingdom Hearts-esque.
(Find Love is a banger. My favorite is probably Manatsu No Toriame off of Fantome. It's so beautiful both musically and lyrically.😭)

I love all of them (except i haven't been able to like Face my Fear's dubstep part, yet, just not my preference) but Sanctuary tops all KH opening/ending songs for me (so far) 🥰 well my first KH game was KH2, so it may be more special to me due to how awestruck i was when i first watched KH2 opening and replayed the early parts of the game over and over again. It's also why Twilight Town feels like home to me and i got Pavlov'ed that my brain and body automatically relaxes when i hear Lazy Afternoon
My favorite from Utada Hikaru has always been Sakura, also from the Deep River album. It is so emotionally driven and the perfect way to open up the album!

So personally I do think the songs you gave an opinion on fit but I think theres one missing that was in the live recording sessions album where she sung "About me" like hearing it over and over again in my head I just think "yep this might be the next KH intro"
I always felt like ‘Beautiful World’ had a very KH sound, but I think they used it for an Evangelion movie too.

I hope they use utada’s song “final distance” but rearranged of maybe have some lines play in backwards. I feel it fits the theme of trying so hard to reach the other person even though the distance keeps growing with one of them keeps saying we’re almost there. even if ur feeling hopeless, every small effort counts.
I do feel like distance m flo remix could work as an opening but I don’t know if final distance would be a good idea considering the background of the song and why it was rearranged.

EDIT 2: yup, when i get a new amp im DEFINITELY learning I Love You on guitar lol the main riff reminds me a LOT of One Step Closer by Linkin Park ngl. and you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about the chorus having a melody similar to S&C. my theory is that while Utada was writing the English version of Hikari, they couldn't come up with any good enough English lyrics to fit the original chorus melody, so they re-used the I Love You melody instead.

Honestly I think Hymn for the Missing by Red would fit perfectly given what you presented as it starts out with

Which can easily be seen from Kairis perspective as Sora and her wanted to just say by eachother and be close to there friends unfortunately because of his abuse if the power of waking he's no longer there beside her and despite everything Kairi does from training with Yinsid to learning under Aqua, to even going into her fractured memories of her past to search for a clue for Sora's whereabouts, he's gone despite him saying as you said "I love you" he was gone before she could react to him saying it.

Which can be seen from Sora's perspective as for instance in the case of KH2 when Sora literally Skype called Kairi through Roxas's heart as there's connected through Sora Kairi can easily be the one calling from there Shore in destiny island just for one more chance for things to be like they were once when they were care free kids before Sora Bumblefucked his way into destiny.

This part is repeated twice but is easily seen from both of there perspectives as there longing for there lost loved one after having faced so many tribulations and trials that in all accounts they technically still weren't ready for but because duty called they had to go and as they wonder through the worlds looking for one another it's almost melancholic about how there hearts have been lost and are trying to reconnect

This can be easily seen in Kairis perspective because at mainly at the end of KH3 Sora is taken away after probably saying I love you to Kairi and she finally gets to hear what she wanted to hear but unfortunately because he was taken away her heart wonders, Should she move on, should she just give up entirely after basically no leads until the last bit I. Melody of memory when she confronted Xehanort her heart was lost and wounded after everything.
But thats just me and tbh while it fits it's a ballad and I highly doubtful anyone wants a slow song as the previous 3 title tracks were you know made for a fast transitions and battles but I just love Red and not enough people know about them unless your one of a few in America and mostly well known in Russia

In the bridge leading to the 2nd chorus Utada sings these lines:

Referring to how at this current point in the story, despite thwarting Xehanort which should have solved all problems
everyone still has to navigate through darkness to reunite (most obviously seen at the end with Donald and Goofy literally searching through pure darkness)
"孤独を癒すムーンライト"
(The moonlight healing their lonliness)
The bonds of each character are now the clearest they've been. Everybody knows and understands the importance to what each friendship they have means.
So despite piloting at night, they won't succumb to darkness and lose their way anymore because the moonlight is healing their loneliness on their journeys.
