I love the fact that Matt Johnson is playing Drums for St. Vincent! For anyone that doesn't know Matt, he was in Jeff Buckley's Band & recorded the Album Grace... I think Jeff would appreciate St. Vincent... :)
That's an awesome fact right there. Love St Vincent. So different. I remember watching this live on Jools Holland. Can't believe it was 10yrs ago now!!
Unbelievable, stunningly mesmerising performance from a super talented artist.... we'll still be saying this a decade from now about Annie Clark aka St Vincent
1 week ago tonight , St Vincent played the 02 Academy Liverpool ......They were Sensational ! the band really had a ball here , Annie C was incredible what a gig , Glad I was there , Couldnt get tickets for the Glasgow gig totally SOLD OUT . thanks May for this gig .
Fantastic, like Bowie meets Eurythmics, and James Brown (guitarists will know what I mean). Love this, especially in the weeks after Bowie's passing everything that is original in how it juggles multiple influences is sooooo welcome to the ears and soul :-)
i was in the tv studio watching this live last night and it sounded awesome in the room! sounds a bit different here cuz it's a direct mix but yeah, still good! she was a sweetheart
Is a very strange combination of sounds, but sounds cool Her stage performance got something of prince when she plays de guitar, I totally can listen this and enjoy it.
. I am still stunned and Deeply in love with this woman. For All the right Rock’n Roll reasons. The first song was enough to make me go out and buy the first and latest albums. Then, O.M.G. performance 2 and 3. First the Breaking Glass does Purple Rain and the fallen angel. And Oh My, the guitar styles from Annie. Then we get XTC does Zappa in high heels. How Proud Jimi, Prince and Kate must be. She’s Danielle Dax, She’s Rose Murphy, She’s Ziggy Stardust and The Cardiacs. She Techno! She Rocks. She’s Marylin with a kick ass guitar and wicked smile. I’ve bought All her Cds now and she Justifies her new blonde persona with such Glee. Dang but she looked like she was having fun. And yes, So pretty and Powerful. And Then, you learn she’s been Kurt Cobain for the Nirvana rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame induction performance. AND there’s that David Byrne album, gigs and hoopy video. Plus all the videos for past singles. Quite an impressive canon. Only one criticism. 1st album, BRILLIANT. And produced by Annie. Next 2 albums, produced but still gorgeous. New album… WAY too over produced and synthesized. Which makes the live performance of the songs that much more welcome and Beloved and POWERFUL. Holy Mogwomp she Cool. A new star and a Huge welcome to my CD collection. Seeing her live in august. And yes. I’ll be front row throwing Roses. Thank you Jools and crew. CAN WE PLEASE BUY THE MP3s of her Performances, preferably on a 3 track DVD. Thanking you nicely. TAO be with Y’all Strawb x
Bluebuthappy182 do you remember the name of the song? I was just curious to know if she played something else out of her default setlist on tv (digital and birth). I wish she could play huey newton, jools is a good show for that
headsbullet She only did this song on the live show on Tuesday night but on the longer Friday night show she also did Prince Johnny and Birth In Reverse. They were both amazing performances complete with a weird cuckoo clock dance thing at the end of Birth and a truly bizarre slow-motion rolling down the stairs at the end of Prince Johnny! I wish the BBC would just post all of the videos. The show never gets repeated so why let all these great performances gather dust?
Dear Op - Could you please post the 2nd song that appeared on the Jools Holland performance, as so far this is the only song from this particular performance that can be found on youtube :) Thanks Very Much In Advance :)
GiftedCombo You often see artists bring a small string or brass section onto shows like this for just one song. I remember Crowded House bringing 5 or so Maori drummers in full tribal outfits with headdresses onto this very show for a single song once, so it's not unfeasible! However I'm not going to criticise anyone for not doing that, it just would have been awesome, that's all.
GiftedCombo Also good point about the sound, I think they're sampled and they sound great on the record, so it could have been an artistic as much as practical decision not to use real ones.
Get back, to your seat Get back, gnashing teeth Ooh, I want all of your mind People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping? If I can't show it, if you can't see me What's the point of doing anything? This is no time for confessing I want all of your mind People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping? If I can't show it, if you can't see me Watch me jump right off the London Bridge This is no time for confessing People turn the TV on and throw it out the window, yeah Get back to your stare I care, but I don't care Oh oh, I, I want all of your mind Give me all of your mind I want all of your mind Give me all of it Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping? If I can't show it, if you can't see me What's the point of doing anything? What's the point of even sleeping? So I stopped sleeping, yeah I stopped sleeping

😍😍😊😊
It seems reminiscent of Prince - did they work together?
keyboard man is just having fun, a good time.
I want more videos :( she played only this song?
No she played another song don't think it's up though
Bluebuthappy182 do you remember the name of the song? I was just curious to know if she played something else out of her default setlist on tv (digital and birth). I wish she could play huey newton, jools is a good show for that
headsbullet I don't know man sorry, to be honest I had only just half heard this song before a few times on radio so don't really know there songs.
headsbullet She only did this song on the live show on Tuesday night but on the longer Friday night show she also did Prince Johnny and Birth In Reverse.
They were both amazing performances complete with a weird cuckoo clock dance thing at the end of Birth and a truly bizarre slow-motion rolling down the stairs at the end of Prince Johnny!

Bowie would be proud of that chorus
Her voice reminds me of Alanis Morisette at points. Much better here than at Glastonbury that's for sure!
Dear Op - Could you please post the 2nd song that appeared on the Jools Holland performance, as so far this is the only song from this particular performance that can be found on youtube :) Thanks Very Much In Advance :)
I uploaded the other 2 songs.
***** You little legend! Much appreciated sir.
Thank You Very Much Elliot :D Much Obliged Good Sir!
affected or not whos gives a toss so long as the music stands up and this does in spades,

David Bowie - Fashion
Guitar : Robert Fripp
this song is kinda simulant
Giggity
ŞEKERİM SENİ ÖZLEMİŞTİK SESİNİ YORUMUNU. DİNLEDİM MEMNUN OLDUM CANIM. YİNE ÇOK GÜZEL
Her voice is amazing.
Am I the only one slightly disappointed there were no real trumpets?
120percentNick she has one song on this album with trumpets it just wouldn't be practical and they sound more computerised anyway
GiftedCombo You often see artists bring a small string or brass section onto shows like this for just one song. aramando ya that would be interesting but even the aesthetic still fits the cold calculated sound and aesthetic of this era
la classe !!fate of this corp david bowie!!
Isn't that Jeff Buckley's drummer?
her dances are avant garde and cool she is not supposed to be britney speers
Bowie ? Is that you ?
Get back, to your seat
Get back, gnashing teeth
Ooh, I want all of your mind
People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah
People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah
Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping?
If I can't show it, if you can't see me
What's the point of doing anything?
This is no time for confessing
I want all of your mind
People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah
People turn the TV on, it looks just like a window, yeah
Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping?
If I can't show it, if you can't see me
Watch me jump right off the London Bridge
This is no time for confessing
People turn the TV on and throw it out the window, yeah
Get back to your stare
I care, but I don't care
Oh oh, I, I want all of your mind
Give me all of your mind
I want all of your mind
Give me all of it
Digital witnesses, what's the point of even sleeping?
If I can't show it, if you can't see me
What's the point of doing anything?
What's the point of even sleeping?
So I stopped sleeping, yeah I stopped sleeping
Man, that boy can play....
Thom Yorke on drums?!!
No, it's Tom York.
YAH
I watched this from UK prison.
Why she isn't modern pop icon? Much better than Lady Gaga
....
Eurythmics style..
yeah Annie Lennox slays
Great song, but this live version seems very flat and without any punch. It may just be the venue/production (not typical with Jools but still).
Devastating
