I watched both presentations and now this one too. I've been Muslim for around 40 years, like yourself I came from Christianity. You've spent over 2hrs on your presentation and however long it took you before that, may Allah swt reward your efforts. You could have simplified this argument by using Surah-Al-Maidah 5:3 and then Ar-Rasulullah saws last sermon, which would have taken all of five minutes. People too often blinded by their own intellect become tools of the Shayateen. When a complex argument occurs you don't counter it with further complexity, you simplify it and go back to the Qur'an and Sunnah or the "Guiding Stars" because that's what Muhammad saws the last Prophet told you to do. Yasir Qadhi is also spending a lot of time refuting the major Ulama' without going back to them and discussing. He is not at the same league of many scholars in this time. Many people just don't realize this because of the language barrier.

I loved Yasir Qadhi for the sake of Allah so much that I promoted his lectures to my family and friends, back in 2008-2014 i watched every single one of his videos, but in 2015-2016 thats when I started to hear some weird ideas coming from him in his lectures and my spidey senses went up. Before that i had heard people say that he was changing but i wasnt listening to anyone until I heard it myself from his evolution video he did a long time ago, thats when i started to notice some cringe worthy statements from him. Then i felt very very uncomfortable listening to him and bang that same year dawah man (imran) brought out his first video refuting yasir qadhi on things i had heard myself so i knew i wasnt imagining it. I read comments that were written by people under that refutation video and i realized that many people had noticed this change too. So from that day on i have never stop making the dua “ya muqallibal quloob thabbit qalbi 3alaa deenik” (o turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on your religion). I became worried that if someone like him could change like this then how about laymen like us. May Allah protect us all and guide yasir qadhi back to the true dawah of islam ameeen For me it was easy to stop listening to him because my love for him wws purely for the sake of Allah so when his dawah started to change, i stopped listening to him for the sake of Allah, i gotta keep protect my heart and my deen.

I haven't seen all of the videos but I know that it is imperative that when you see danger you have to warn So many sincere Muslims put their trust in sheikhs and speakers so it is a duty on those who know to point this out No one is without a mistake but mistakes should be pointed out and rectified

I would definitely agree it would be better for Yasir Qadhi to clarify his stances, but akhi, I can’t help but to feel that there’s a great deal of extrapolation you are making over his statements. When you talk about aqeedah, you refer to what you learned from the university of madina. But yasir qadhi refers to the differences in the exact “codified” aqeedah taught by the varying groups especially all the madhabs since they have differences whether big or small. I honestly *don’t see how YQ was referring to the simple and basic aqeedah taught by the prophet pbuh* . But when he talks about *sitting with the people of bidah* , he presents the example of the top mufti of saudia arabia for the prime purpose of getting together, *not adopting or being “fine” with other views* . Otherwise you have to call out the top shieyookh of saudia arabia. And finally, if yale “changed” him or caused him to deviate, should we not have at least seen deviance in his lectures or teachings to reflect that? *yet nobody complained or had a problem until just recently in the podcast* . And is it not true that many scholars over history have discussed aqeedah throughout the various books, with many getting into advanced and complex discussions of what actually constitutes aqeedah? (i.e if the matter was black and white with regards to the scholars after the prophet (saw), why are there so many diverse groups *even within ahlul-sunnah* that differ over the nuances of aqeedah?

However....just to give you that one example, within ahlul sunnah itself there are “creeds” which have difference in further *nuances* such as athari/ashari/matrudi. Nuances which go as far as changing one’s view of Allah (swt) altogether based on who or what you follow.
Emm Dee I wouldn’t go as far as to classify madina grads as such at all, but with all due respect to brother sajid, I think he has genuinely erred, with the rest of the comments basically approving and saying yes, without placing proper context on what was said, or even considering who YQ was even criticizing or referring to. On one hand sajid is defining aqeedah in its simple form the way learned in madina, while yasir qadhi is simply referring the differences between different schools/madhabs.

I've been following these refutation videos by yourself and certain other scholars, one thing in common is that you all studied at Madina University. After listening to Yasir Qadhis interview with Muhammad Hijab things became a little clearer in why he has openly shunned certain scholars from Saudi and it is not just this 'Yale orientalist ' theory as you and your colleagues propose. YQ explained that he was the ONLY straight A student and non Arab that particular year and he wanted to complete his Masters when he was stopped in his tracks by the Madkhali zealots who prevented him at every opportunity to further his studies. As he was not a card carrying Madkhali as most of his fellow foreign students were ,he was viewed with disdain and treated unjustly .He was so determined to further his studies that he decided to pursue it all the way to the top including getting written support from his Ustaadhs and government officials. He sued the head of the education at Madina University ,an extremist Madkhali,and eventually succeeded after going through extreme hurt and it became a big thing in the country as well as being viewed with great interest by his fellow non Arab students. So....firstly if these ' Ulema' are so shadeed on following the Sunnah and the Salaf us Saleeh,why do they display such blatant racism,devilish behaviour in turning a seeker of knowledge with the best grades away from furthering his studies.?? YQ makes it clear that specifically the Madkhalis were at that time in charge of very powerful areas in government and his criticism was only reserved for them and not all his Ustaadhs. Brother Saajid...please for sake of Allah, consider that not all the over 1.5 billion Muslims in the world have the same awe and greatness which you guys who studied have for the Saudi ulema and they are above criticism. Wallahi there are many pious Ulema who I have personally met from different parts of the world who also have great knowledge and taqwa and who have correct Aqeeda. Jazakallah khair akhi! Great video mashallah! I agree that watering down approach does not work! I am a witness to it as well. I am from Bosnia and we are in the heart of Europe. Bosnia went down that road and lost themselves because of immense European influence and our lack of strength. We compromised and got defeated spiritually. Then, after our war alhamdulillah people started coming back to the true teaching. However, we face a uphill battle because our secularized Islamic institutions are deeply rooted. This is a warning to American Muslims wallahi. Do not go down this road of secularizing the Islamic institution and clergy.

Lots of us might think too much confusion and too many fitnah what should we do? We need to remember Allah is the best of planner and he is in complete control of everything. Yasir Qadhi is saying that whenever you have schools of understanding there are matters that are subjected to ijtihaad. He is correct in saying that it is not black-and-white. You may need to review your study of the Hadith of Bani Quaidha. This term did not even exist during the period of first three generations (Salaf al Saaleheen)! Hence, no matter if the whole world stands on one side, it remains a subjected that can be discussed, debated and criticised and even rejected as bida'ah. PERIOD! May Allah make us understand the standards of our Deen properly, and save us from duality and ghuluw of the great men of the past. It is this ghuluw that has given rise to the great men being worshipped as idols, so we must stop where our Prophet Muhammad SAW stopped! And confine ourselves with the term he (SAW) used all his till till Allah completed Deen!

I understand this. I personally don’t like it when other muslims are slandered, even tho all you did was correct a statement and warn people which is premissible. We should protect people from being mislead. However we have to recognize that Dr Yasir and others alike, are not bad people, but rather humans who make mistake. They have a forgiving God behind them, who is indeed Al-Ghaffur, and we should be nothing but forgiving towards them too (while still correcting their mistake). Teachers who were objective as much as they could be. Thank God for that as I should for my incredible teachers. I don't idolize celebrity shaykhs, but the weakness in your refutation against Yasir Qadhi in my opinion is that you are making the broad, general claim that he is belittling aqeedah as a whole when in reality he is only belittling one specific aspect of aqeedah. Namely: he is belittling the differences between mainstream athari/ashari/maturidi schools. Not every issue of aqeedah is important. For example: Who is shaytaan's wife? This point of aqeedah does not benefit and is not important. If the ummah was fighting over this, it would be correct to tell them to stop fighting and simply unite. So you should make an in-depth video explaining the beliefs of ashari/maturidi aqeedah, and how these beliefs can seriously jeopardize one's standing with Allah on the day of judgement. Until you do this you haven't established the hujjah against him on this particular point.

If the great salaf as saliheen had to agree to disagree in these matters why do we need to keep bringing them up, the bottom line is if you have chosen to accept a particular understanding of aqida no doubt there will be a big scholar of the past with huge credentials who would disagree with that understanding not just Sheikh yasir qadhi and they derived their understanding from the same Quran and the same Hadiths! so we just keep bouncing back and fourth, it sounds like your implying it’s your way or the highway! And this is how we get into sectarianism.
It's like this, everyone makes an informed decisions based on their knowledge. So if we just start discounting scholars for a couple of things here and there then we will be left with none. Yasir Qadhi or whoever, unless they firmly stand up in public going against Islam at large, I would never let them go. A few examples here and there are not enough to discount someone. It only proves Allah is the only Perfect one everyone else is fallible.
akhi you say there are a couple of things here and there he said himself he doesn't even understand Aqeedah, just because one does well in testing, regurgitating information or having a great memory does not mean there is a benefit. There are differences for sure in regards to many things but for the fuquha and all those who came before him suddenly he has an epiphany and discovered some secret idea no one has ever come across before him.
It depends what that one thing is. If someone said ‘you don’t have to pray’, then that one thing is enough not to take from him anymore, because the issue of prayer so heavy in Islam and can keep you in or take you out if Islam! The issue of aqeedah is also very heavy and can keep you in or take you out of Islam! So it’s extremely important. So even though you might feel it’s just one mistake, it’s a BIG mistake subhanallah.

I have read that one of the last quotes of Fakruddin Razi was that he spent too much time with the secular sciences ( living in the time of mu'tazilites) and he regretted that in his deathbed, wished he could have spent more time with studying Allah's Deen, - I remind this quote of Imam Razi myself whenever i get obsessed about dunyavi knowledge. I have seen Yasir mentioning physics when he was mentioning jinns being created from smokeless fire. I believed him then, but now seeing that he is giving the sight of the eyes more importance than sight of the heart, I have realised I cant follow his lectures blindly. I love the man, he has helped me a lot with guidance in the deen and insights into islamic history , buI I will be careful from now on,

The 2 interviewer were infantile childish Muslims. They should not be allowed to talk about serious themes of Islam. I watched both presentations and now this one too. I've been Muslim for around 40 years, like yourself I came from Christianity. You've spent over 2hrs on your presentation and however long it took you before that, may Allah swt reward your efforts. You could have simplified this argument by using Surah-Al-Maidah 5:3 and then Ar-Rasulullah saws last sermon, which would have taken all of five minutes.
People too often blinded by their own intellect become tools of the Shayateen. When a complex argument occurs you don't counter it with further complexity, you simplify it and go back to the Qur'an and Sunnah or the "Guiding Stars" because that's what Muhammad saws the last Prophet told you to do. The truth is simple, and lies are complex.. Allah knows best! As'salaamu'alaikum.

Yasir Qadhi is also spending a lot of time refuting the major Ulama' without going back to them and discussing. He is not at the same league of many scholars in this time. Many people just don't realize this because of the language barrier.

I was very uncomfortable with what he was saying but when I listen to your videos I understood why I was so uncomfortable with what he was saying. Yes our Aqeedah does not change. I loved Yasir Qadhi for the sake of Allah so much that I promoted his lectures to my family and friends, back in 2008-2014 i watched every single one of his videos, but in 2015-2016 thats when I started to hear some weird ideas coming from him in his lectures and my spidey senses went up.
Before that i had heard people say that he was changing but i wasnt listening to anyone until I heard it myself from his evolution video he did a long time ago, thats when i started to notice some cringe worthy statements from him. Then i felt very very uncomfortable listening to him and bang that same year dawah man (imran) brought out his first video refuting yasir qadhi on things i had heard myself so i knew i wasnt imagining it.
I read comments that were written by people under that refutation video and i realized that many people had noticed this change too. So from that day on i have never stop making the dua “ya muqallibal quloob thabbit qalbi 3alaa deenik” (o turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on your religion). I became worried that if someone like him could change like this then how about laymen like us. May Allah protect us all and guide yasir qadhi back to the true dawah of islam ameeen
For me it was easy to stop listening to him because my love for him wws purely for the sake of Allah so when his dawah started to change, i stopped listening to him for the sake of Allah, i gotta keep protect my heart and my deen.
Yes... His old lectures were beneficial but now I can't listen to him out of fear for myself. I remember that time when brother imran had a video out exposing his views on the authenticity of the Quran. It was scary.

I would definitely agree it would be better for Yasir Qadhi to clarify his stances, but akhi, I can’t help but to feel that there’s a great deal of extrapolation you are making over his statements. When you talk about aqeedah, you refer to what you learned from the university of madina.
But yasir qadhi refers to the differences in the exact “codified” aqeedah taught by the varying groups especially all the madhabs since they have differences whether big or small. I honestly *don’t see how YQ was referring to the simple and basic aqeedah taught by the prophet pbuh* .
But when he talks about *sitting with the people of bidah* , he presents the example of the top mufti of saudia arabia for the prime purpose of getting together, *not adopting or being “fine” with other views* . Otherwise you have to call out the top shieyookh of saudia arabia.
And finally, if yale “changed” him or caused him to deviate, should we not have at least seen deviance in his lectures or teachings to reflect that? *yet nobody complained or had a problem until just recently in the podcast* .
And is it not true that many scholars over history have discussed aqeedah throughout the various books, with many getting into advanced and complex discussions of what actually constitutes aqeedah?

However....just to give you that one example, within ahlul sunnah itself there are “creeds” which have difference in further *nuances* such as athari/ashari/matrudi. I wouldn’t go as far as to classify madina grads as such at all, but with all due respect to brother sajid, I think he has genuinely erred, with the rest of the comments basically approving and saying yes, without placing proper context on what was said, or even considering who YQ was even criticizing or referring to.
On one hand sajid is defining aqeedah in its simple form the way learned in madina, while yasir qadhi is simply referring the differences between different schools/madhabs.

I've been following these refutation videos by yourself and certain other scholars, one thing in common is that you all studied at Madina University.
After listening to Yasir Qadhis interview with Muhammad Hijab things became a little clearer in why he has openly shunned certain scholars from Saudi and it is not just this 'Yale orientalist ' theory as you and your colleagues propose.
YQ explained that he was the ONLY straight A student and non Arab that particular year and he wanted to complete his Masters when he was stopped in his tracks by the Madkhali zealots who prevented him at every opportunity to further his studies. As he was not a card carrying Madkhali as most of his fellow foreign students were ,he was viewed with disdain and treated unjustly .He was so determined to further his studies that he decided to pursue it all the way to the top including getting written support from his Ustaadhs and government officials.
He sued the head of the education at Madina University ,an extremist Madkhali,and eventually succeeded after going through extreme hurt and it became a big thing in the country as well as being viewed with great interest by his fellow non Arab students.
So....firstly if these ' Ulema' are so shadeed on following the Sunnah and the Salaf us Saleeh,why do they display such blatant racism,devilish behaviour in turning a seeker of knowledge with the best grades away from furthering his studies.??
YQ makes it clear that specifically the Madkhalis were at that time in charge of very powerful areas in government and his criticism was only reserved for them and not all his Ustaadhs.
Brother Saajid...please for sake of Allah, consider that not all the over 1.5 billion Muslims in the world have the same awe and greatness which you guys who studied have for the Saudi ulema and they are above criticism. Bosnia went down that road and lost themselves because of immense European influence and our lack of strength. We compromised and got defeated spiritually. Then, after our war alhamdulillah people started coming back to the true teaching. However, we face a uphill battle because our secularized Islamic institutions are deeply rooted. This is a warning to American Muslims wallahi. Do not go down this road of secularizing the Islamic institution and clergy.

You may need to review your study of the Hadith of Bani Quaidha. This term did not even exist during the period of first three generations (Salaf al Saaleheen)! Hence, no matter if the whole world stands on one side, it remains a subjected that can be discussed, debated and criticised and even rejected as bida'ah. PERIOD! May Allah make us understand the standards of our Deen properly, and save us from duality and ghuluw of the great men of the past. It is this ghuluw that has given rise to the great men being worshipped as idols, so we must stop where our Prophet Muhammad SAW stopped! And confine ourselves with the term he (SAW) used all his till till Allah completed Deen!

We should protect people from being mislead. However we have to recognize that Dr Yasir and others alike, are not bad people, but rather humans who make mistake. They have a forgiving God behind them, who is indeed Al-Ghaffur, and we should be nothing but forgiving towards them too (while still correcting their mistake). I don't idolize celebrity shaykhs, but the weakness in your refutation against Yasir Qadhi in my opinion is that you are making the broad, general claim that he is belittling aqeedah as a whole when in reality he is only belittling one specific aspect of aqeedah. Namely: he is belittling the differences between mainstream athari/ashari/maturidi schools. Not every issue of aqeedah is important. For example: Who is shaytaan's wife? This point of aqeedah does not benefit and is not important. If the ummah was fighting over this, it would be correct to tell them to stop fighting and simply unite. So you should make an in-depth video explaining the beliefs of ashari/maturidi aqeedah, and how these beliefs can seriously jeopardize one's standing with Allah on the day of judgement. Until you do this you haven't established the hujjah against him on this particular point.

Saajid Lipham no doubt brother you can quote the Hadith from memory and il have to look it up! But the point I’m trying to make is that I don’t believe this is compromising our religion! If the great salaf as saliheen had to agree to disagree in these matters why do we need to keep bringing them up, the bottom line is if you have chosen to accept a particular understanding of aqida no doubt there will be a big scholar of the past with huge credentials who would disagree with that understanding not just Sheikh yasir qadhi and they derived their understanding from the same Quran and the same Hadiths! so we just keep bouncing back and fourth, it sounds like your implying it’s your way or the highway!

Yasir Qadhi or whoever, unless they firmly stand up in public going against Islam at large, I would never let them go. A few examples here and there are not enough to discount someone. It only proves Allah is the only Perfect one everyone else is fallible.
akhi you say there are a couple of things here and there he said himself he doesn't even understand Aqeedah, just because one does well in testing, regurgitating information or having a great memory does not mean there is a benefit. There are differences for sure in regards to many things but for the fuquha and all those who came before him suddenly he has an epiphany and discovered some secret idea no one has ever come across before him.
It depends what that one thing is. If someone said ‘you don’t have to pray’, then that one thing is enough not to take from him anymore, because the issue of prayer so heavy in Islam and can keep you in or take you out if Islam! The issue of aqeedah is also very heavy and can keep you in or take you out of Islam! So it’s extremely important. So even though you might feel it’s just one mistake, it’s a BIG mistake subhanallah.

Many of us commenting here, not watching the podcast but just watching your response. Why are you trying to divide Ummah rather unite? I have read that one of the last quotes of Fakruddin Razi was that he spent too much time with the secular sciences ( living in the time of mu'tazilites) and he regretted that in his deathbed, wished he could have spent more time with studying Allah's Deen, - I remind this quote of Imam Razi myself whenever i get obsessed about dunyavi knowledge. I have seen Yasir mentioning physics when he was mentioning jinns being created from smokeless fire. I believed him then, but now seeing that he is giving the sight of the eyes more importance than sight of the heart, I have realised I cant follow his lectures blindly. I love the man, he has helped me a lot with guidance in the deen and insights into islamic history , buI I will be careful from now on,
