Isn’t funny how things that excite us change over the years. We used to wait to go out dancing on Friday nights now we wait for sour dough starter. Lol
Thank you for this informative video….I got started during the Covid timespan ….but have been since then just doing the homemade rustic with no sourdough starter! Ty …you have me back on track for winter baking! I got my starter from a friend! 😊
Too funny, when you were spending the measuring cup around and you said something about happy bubbles. I saw a smiley face like two eyes and nose and a smiley face so the bubbles are most definitely happy this made my morning. Thanks for sharing.
I remember it too but I only watched and read everyone’s comments. This time I’m going to try it. My starter won’t be here till Tuesday. But I’m exited to give it a go this time. And hopefully I’m going to get through it. 😂 I’m an old grandma and baked bread My whole life… but have never made a sour dough bread or had a starter. Never too late to try I hope 🤞
I am so excited for all of us! hahahaha This, this is what I would think about when I was laying in that bed healing....one day, Im gonna be back with my girls baking bread as a circle of sister-friends. hahaha I AM SO HAPPY!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader aw Heather that is so you ! You make my heart so happy.! 🥰 I’m super excited to try this time. Now I can’t wait till Tues till mine comes in the mail. lol. 😂
OH MY GOSH HAVE I M ISSED YOU SO MUCH!! I'm not sure if you remember me but I was probably the only one on your channel who didn't bake or cook 😂 I just loved stopping by to chat. I just want to let you know there was never a time when I wasn't thinking about you, praying and wondering how you were doing. Of course you always were my favorite UA-camr. One of the nurses I work with actually mentioned you... actually it wasn't by your name, it was "Ms Kneady" 😄 and of course I had to stop by to see how your doing 🌹 You have always been a huge light in my life whether you know it or not especially during my toughest days here at the hospital. I will always be grateful for you Heather. I guess we truly don't realize just how much we touch other people's lives and you certainly were that person. All of my colleagues and medical staff who I continue to work with send prayers and warm hugs your way. By the way, I still don't bake 😄 but it won't stop me from coming by. Take care my friend xx
Hello Heather! Awesome video on how to feed your sourdough starter Day 2 with tips!👍 Thanks for sharing!💞 Blessings to you and your family!🌹 🦋11/19/2024🦋
Cool, I'm excited for you....I purchased the Baker's Creek or "Rare seeds" starter, and mine has done very well. It's from a mountain village in Tajikistan that's over 500 yrs old. I love their seed selection as well.
Omg🎉 my mouth is watering 😊 It looks so Yummy 😮😮😮 I have to make it one day 😊 By the way I loved your video about your teeth I love them You’re so Beautiful. I had dentures since I was in my 30’s I was in a very abuse relationship at that time for 10 years I couldn’t believe I was with him for so long. But those kind of Ppl know how to rap you around their fingers and make you feel like you’re nothing without them 😢 The final straw was he hit me with a baseball bat and broke 3 of my ribs 😢 I literally ran for my life. please please if you’re in a bad relationship get out now!! You can do it I’m living proof.. My BirthMother was not so lucky 😢 ❤ xo
I bought the King Arthur dry sour dough starter kit. A long time ago. Just been kind of chicken to try it out! I know it is not rocket science. Will watch your videos on this and finally give it a try! I love good sour dough bread! And making it myself sounds pretty awesome! Can only imagine the smell of it baking in the house! Thanks for sharing. :)
well, not local, but it will adapt to your kitchen, your flour, your water, your tools, your environment.....it is forever changing! There are great studies on it, it is what's so beautiful about this living culture.....some microorganisms last for years or even decades....it is the stability in such a starter that makes it so wonderful for people who may struggle to start one in their kitchen environment.www.researchgate.net/publication/259394155_Ecological_parameters_influencing_microbial_diversity_and_stability_of_traditional_sourdough
well, now you can see how easy and fun it is! I hope you join in! hahaha you onlyy live once AND if there was ever an emergency, you starter can feed you as long as you have flour and water!
I'm so thankful 🙏 ❤ I was able to watch today. If you can, let me know the class info. I did EMT CLASSES LONG AGO. Maybe I can take the stop bleeding class by me. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏🇺🇸🙏🇮🇱🙏🀄🏡🇺🇸🙏
Heather question when you make that kind of sourdough dough in the beginning, it’s the San Francisco brand but after it’s been in your home and it’s took on the characteristics of your home I don’t think it’s still San Francisco is that correct?
oh yes, EVERYTHING can effect sourdough starter..... even the daily changes in the air.....the utensils you use, the humidity, the feeding times, let along the flour, water, ect. What you are purchasing with this started is its stability. The fact that this starter is so old, so established.....and there are studies out there that showed some microorganisms remain in the starter for years up to decades. It's what's so incredible about this living organism.....it is very much alive! And forever changing and adapting! www.researchgate.net/publication/259394155_Ecological_parameters_influencing_microbial_diversity_and_stability_of_traditional_sourdough
You could if you want multiple starters. I don't. 😆 I only want to feed and maintain one. Remember, this little series is about helping those who struggle to get a starter going. I am only focused on that. We are NOT over complicating that goal. You feel free to do what you want especially if you have no issues with feeding and maintaining starter. My.focus is only on the few folks out there that struggle and kill theirs. We wanna get them up and running and baking bread! 🥰

Yep! For sure!

Save discard and use it to make Italian meatballs in place of breadcrumb/milk mixture. Did it last week with a recipe I found online and OH MY! 🤤
Oh wow! I would have never thought to add it in meatballs!

Great video Heather! Thank you! Give the discard to your chickens! They will love it and so good for their guts 🌻❤️🌻
They won't eat it 😆 they are snobs.

I bought a live starter from Breadtopia and it’s amazing.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Intently following along on this sourdough journey! I've never had a starter.
do you bake bread, Earthy? You might really have fun with this!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader Yes I love to bake bread, pastries, etc. I may try the starter, like the jar and covers too 😊. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Heather! 💕🌷
Y’all have a blessed day!
Same to you😊
You can even use the bread machine. Uses Less flour! On King Arthur site . I tried and it turned out perfectly.
Thanks for the tip, mogirl! I didn't know that!
Thank you Heather this is great!
You're so welcome!
Enjoy your class!
Thank you, hon 😊

Within a few feedings your starter will take on a different flavor and become a local starter.
well, not local, but it will adapt to your kitchen, your flour, your water, your tools, your environment.....it is forever changing! Why do you have to throw the discard away?
I'm going to really look into this more.
you could use it but they tell you not to, sometimes the flavor isnt right yet.
@TheKneadyHomesteader oh right thank you.
Can't you just use more of the discarded to start another one? Then discard rest?
Can the discard be used to make another “starter”? If that’s the right word. lol.
Hi Heather! Do you think you could do this with Einkorn flour?
Looking good 👍. What have you named it?
Not yet!😆 Gotta pray on it!

I’ve wanted to make sourdough but it seemed difficult

How much was the starter?😊
$14.99! But it's priceless if you have tried making starter over and over, only to struggle and fail!
VERY REASONABLE!!! Thank you 👍
